  1. I get generic Previcid at Walgreens. It works great!
  2. I put it in some homemade soup I made...just have to be careful it's not too hot or it gets clumpy and gross. I mix it in chicken stock especially the first few weeks. It has no flavor at all. Comes with a scoop, but smaller than the other nectar scoops. One scoop is 1/2 the normal nectar scoop. When I make smoothies with fruit I use half unflavored and half flavored nectar because I want to taste the fruit. You could add it to Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, applesauce, almond or soy milk or regular (I seem to be having lactose issues.) I use the unflavored to give me the needed protein when I'm eating "regular" food. It is lumpy sometimes, but no flavor at all.
  3. There is something good about finding others in the same boat. I really thought I was doing something wrong. Knowing I'm not alone in my struggle helps so much. The weight WILL come off...I guess it will just take some of us longer. It will give our skin more time to spring back! We didn't gain 100 lbs in a month so we can't expect to lose it that fast Our blood pressure won't drop so dramatically that we pass out in public Lots of positives...lol. I really am happy I'm not alone.
  4. I use Nectar unflavored in a bunch of stuff.
  5. I made a pot of homemade split pea soup and I put unflavored protein powder in it. Just don't let it get to hot or the powder gets icky. Good source of fiber (with all that protein...fiber is a goooood thing.)
  6. I was tired for several weeks, but I had a UTI, then for about a week from antibiotics and then lactose intolerance. It took me a long time to recover. I personally feel that less energy (calories) in equals lass energy to use. My shakes were only 100 calories.
  7. I started Peanut butter with the soft food phase. My nut suggested it to get more calories.
  8. I use Previcid twice a day. It works great. Was sleeved May 8th.
  9. Omg! I am 3 weeks post op and there has been nothing easy about this. I'm not even loosing weight as fast as others. 11 lbs in 3 weeks...25 total. But I'm loosing. This is the hardest "diet" I have ever been on. I don't tell people I had the surgery for the reasons you listed above. We've all lost 45 lbs before...just didn't keep it off. I've lost count of how many lbs I've lost. Those people are not your friends. Ask them why they think having someone cut out 80% of your stomach, going liquid diet for 4-6 weeks, soft mushy foods, reflux, lactose intolerance, constipation and diarrhea, bad breath, low energy, is "the easy way?" What exactly are they doing that is more difficult than all of that???
  10. Noooooooo. Popsicles. No soda...no carbonated beverages after surgery
  11. Fever, vomiting. It was day after surgery. No burning, but pee came back positive. Antibiotics did a number on my stomach.
  12. There are certain vitamin deficiencies that will cause these symptoms as would dehydration. Or you could just be sick? If it continues, it wouldn't hurt to follow up with your nutritionist. My surgeon requires blood work 1 month post op (like 12 vials). Would tell if you are missing something in your diet.
  13. I am having the same problem. I was sleeved May 8th. Was only getting about 400 calories in daily but almost all my fluids. My stomach felt like it was starving. I also have had diarrhea since last Sunday which is making everything much worse. Added several meds today: Immodium for diarrhea (two doses finally worked...yea) Pepcid, and Probiotics ( I was on antibiotic for UTI) I expect the Pepcid to help with the noises and discomfort. A lot of people also suggest omnezoprol for the acid. Our bellies are virgins, and some of us are more sensitive than others.
  14. Low sodium chicken broth is saving me. Sleeved May 8th. Having a hard time with shakes and plain water is icky. Also having 2-3 sf pops a day.
  15. I ran a fever for 4 days. Turned out to be a UTI from the catheter. Don't let it go for too many days...just have to pee in a cup to get it checked. Definitely push the fluids.
  16. Thanks everyone. I am using Nectar shakes which are Lactose and gluten free. I was mixing with skim milk but stopped thinking it could be the problem. I have discussed with doctor and nutritionist. Had chest X-ray and bunch more blood work this week. All came back normal. I'm convinced the antibiotics in my virgin belly did a number on me. Combined with acid, my belly is sad. I think all would be manageable if I didn't have the diarrhea. The Immodium may help. If you have any other suggestions...post them. Oh and I just started probiotics too.
  17. Hi, I had Sleeve on May 8th. Got fever, vomiting from UTI in hospital. Doctor put me on antibiotics for three days. I have had horrible diarrhea since last Sunday. Also burning in my stomach most of the time. Today started Pepcid and have had three Immodium. I am weak, exhausted and never feel satisfied in my stomach. I have adjusted my diet but nutritionist said I need to be adding the extras to my shake. Had a delicious scrambled egg this morning, but diarrhea again. Sweating just walking from room to room. This is so not what I expected. Any suggestions for meds or foods to try?
  18. I have the same kid issue (15, 13, & 11yo) I have been preparing the kids for a while telling them I am seeing a doctor and a nutritionist to help me lose weight and get healthier. My kids are all big outdoors fans and we camp and hike. Obviously, I can't keep up. So I tell them I want to be able to do more stuff with them. I have not told them I am getting surgery. Nor have I told any family or friends. I'm just telling them its another "procedure" like the sleep study, EGD, or stomach emptying studies I have had.
  19. I'm worried about postop too. I was pissed when I found out how long the process is and ALL THE TESTS!! But looking back I'm glad the doctor made me do all of it. I know all of my comorbities. I know all of them can go away or improve with weight loss. I know I have a good heart, no cancer or some strange illness that would have been found with all the tests. And, most important, it gave me many opportunities to back out or change my mind. But I didn't. I went to every appointment and am 100% sure I am making the right decision. The process is worth it, but it is a pain in the butt!
  20. Ok, take a deep breàth it's gonna be ok. I too am very impatient. I decided to use the waiting period to break some bad habits. I am down to about 6 oz of coffee in the morning. Ingave up all carbonated beverages. Most recently, I am eating 1 shake and 3 smaller meals a day. I have started taking walks. I was more worried about being bombarded with an entirely new lifestyle after the surgery. I can't control my insurance company or the surgeons busy schedule. I can control me pre-op preparations. Some other stuff I did was order my Protein. I got it on Amazon.com and its great. I switched to Water bottles that have measurements on the side so I can keep track of my water intake. All of these little things are making me feel more in control and less nervous. I'm not even worried about the actual surgical procedure. July will be here before you know it.
  21. Hi everyone This waiting is killing me! 3.5 weeks to surgery and everything is done. Preop stuff all done. Not looking forward to the 2 week starvation/liver shrink diet. Trying to prepare by having 1 shake/3meals a day now. Surgery is May 8th, Mother's Day May 12th, daughters school awards ceremony May 13th, sons confirmation May 19th. Gonna be a crazy crazy week after surgery. I'm a little nervous about feeling ok for these events. Don't really care about Mother's Day, but kid stuff very important plus will have out of town guests. Haven't told anyone about surgery so will have to fake it (not sure how ill handle meals) during the 10 days after surgery. Has anyone experienced negative feedback regarding surgery? I'm afraid my family will judge and be negative. Won't tell them until after surgery...or maybe never. Have been telling them I'm in a weight loss program at the hospital..which is the truth. Comments? Advice?
