weekly scale challenge
A quick little hijack about all that food that was here... it's still here. I don't think anyone ate anything here! I brought leftovers to work, they ate every day for a week. I've eaten Mexican leftovers 5 times. There's piles more in the fridge and a heap in the freezer. Last night, I started warming it up and Chris put his foot down and took me to dinner! YEAH! He's over the bash food. So that's gonna be my new tactic to get out of the house. Just start warming up some tamales, and out the door we go!

Any One Up For an Exercise Challenge?
It's like 4:30 a.m., and normal people sleep till 7 or 8 on Saturdays, so in answer to "anyone up for exercise" no, no, no. Why can't I sleep? And the worst part is there's just so much to do around here that laying around on the couch isn't an option. So that's like forced exercise, which means maybe I'll meet the challenge afterall. Why does that banana keep dancing? He's a very energetic banana, or is it a she? Aussie, you should get someone to build you a little train baby carriage so you can push all them babes around - then you'll get an upper body work out too! But even easier, playing with the kids is great exercise. Just round them up for dance time to some funky music, play Follow The Leader, lift them up and down... just keep moving for a half our till you get a little sweaty. Marie, I heard you speak negatively about yourself - no, no, no. You are amazing, look how far you've come, now put some rollers in your hair and some cold cream on your face, get into your oldest robe and post a pic of it here. You're adorable and we all know it!

The saga of my tender port continues
HA HA BECCA, you just invented the Band Wagon! I think mobile band services is a fab idea. Where do I sign? Not only will I be the guinea pig, but I want in on the business. A whole menu of items: Fills, Fills under Flouro, Port Manipulation, Endoscopy... It's after lunch... no word from Teng's office. Phooey.

Vitamins
My doctor told me that you have to take Vitamins with a Protein because the vitamins need to bind to a protein in order to offer benefits. If you take them with liquids like milk, they will just pass through your system. So I went to my pharmacist and asked if this was true, and my pharmacist agreed with my doctor. Any thoughts? I have an awful time taking vitamins. The only time I'm able to consistently take them is with a glass of milk in the morning, and then I don't eat any food till noon. So, I'm I wasting my time and money, or am I getting any benefit?

The saga of my tender port continues
And by the way, as soon as I find out what's wrong with me, it will relieve a lot of stress. Once I can think clear again, I plan to start writing letters. My letters are famous for moving mountains. I think it's time INAMED and hell, George Bush (or Kerry for that matter) takes some responsiblity. This band has saved most of our lives. It should be the number 1 weight loss surgery in our country like in other countries, and insurance should be required to cover it. They'll pay for a coronary bypass - the band sounds way cheaper, no? WE NEED AFTERCARE, WE NEED AFTERCARE.... Penni, can you make up some signs?

The saga of my tender port continues
The only thing with Billy is he costs way more than Kuri, and going to Kuri and Billy are about the same distance as far as traveling goes. If I have to go to Mexico, I'll just go to Penni's, who lives a couple blocks from my lil brother (who I can visit while there.) Then Penni can drag me to Mexico cuz she said the train leaves right from her hood to San Diego, then a $2.00 trolly into TJ. to see Kuri. It's kinda a bonus cuz I'll get a Penni fix. But wouldn't it be nice if someone local could just tell me what the problem is and get me an endoscopy? That would be like hitting a jackpot!

Last Pre-op Doctor's Visit Look out surgery here I come!
Two new bandies by the end of next week? No Whiskey baths, it may seep into your pores and lower your resistance! Seriously, Betty, I hope you shake any potential bugs and get to keep your date. Remember me if you "think" you're feeling just okayish - you need to feel your best before surgery to ensure a speedy recovery.

The saga of my tender port continues
What's that saying about expecting the worst but hoping for the best? That's me. Dr. Teng is in surgery all day, but I talked to Peggy in his office and 'splained the whole Penni/Billy conversation. He'll be in on Monday. It would be a huge relief if he'd just see me. I'm not extremely hopeful though, since Dr. Rumbault called the other local band doctor here (Fisher) and asked him to take me on, but Fisher said Nevada Med Mal insurance simply won't allow him to take on Mexican patients. Band, what band, I don't have a band - where's Mexico?

Woe is me....
I'm feeling better today so maybe I have to delete this post! No more woe woe woe. I'll feel better next week when I (hopefully) get answers from the surgeon. I'm spending too much time on the boards so I should get some work done since today's Friday!

Last Pre-op Doctor's Visit Look out surgery here I come!
Betty, I'm the pro on this subject, and you are very smart to avoid getting sick. About 10 days before my surgery, everyone in my immediate life was horribly sick. I was so afraid of getting the crud that I ran right to the doctor. My throat was starting to get sore, so I explained the need to be healthy, and he gave me an antibiotic shot. So I felt better. Then the exact day of my surgery, I woke up feeling a tiny strange in the throat. I figured it was allergies since I had the shot. I got to Mexico around noon and was out of surgery by 4:00 p.m., but I woke up crying because I didn't think I could breathe - the tube they stuck down my throat kick-started the worst sore throat and bronchial infection, so I was really, really sick after my surgery. I still wonder till this day if all the coughing I did during recovery is what screwed up my port. I voiced my concerns prior to the surgery, but I was assured that coughing could not dislodge the port. But I was one sick puppy. I know you've waited so long for this day to finally get here, but you're gonna have to take my word - so if you feel the slightest cold or flu coming on, be smart (unlike Dumby Me) and reschedule.

Woe is me....
For 2 nights I've fallen asleep before 7pm. Banging headache & throbbing legs - weird. But this morning I crawled out of bed, put on a new sweat suit (thanks, Michelle) and put on my headphones (thanks, Donali) and went for a walk (thanks to this exercise challenge.) My head is still cracking but I feel quite a bit better today. Vera, I took Monday off work for "ME" time. I rode my Harley to the pet store, to the leather store (exchanged b-day gloves for smaller size) to the Avenue for undies, then to Palace Station for some solo R & R (Keno & Poker.) I refused to be mad at myself for losing a little money. I wish I could have a few more of those days. I wish I had a few spare days to lay around and catch up with the latest movies. I'm looking forward to Sunday, which is the day we meet our motorcycle people and go for long rides. I'm not ready for riding with the group, so I just sit on the back of my husband's bike and enjoy the day. Then next week is my appointment with a surgeon, so hopefully he'll relieve some of my stress, too. Thanks for all being here... the sun is starting to shine again!

Any One Up For an Exercise Challenge?
Katie, I started a "woe is me" thread that's appropriate for people who hate exercise. Last night, even after taking 2 Tylenol, my legs hurt worse than ever. But it's true - I feel better after a walk. I met the challenge this morning with a 45 minute "yank-and-sniff-along" with my 2 mutts. They act like they've never been to the park before! Next week when I'm visiting my surgeon for my port incision, I'm going to mention this achey throbbing thing going on. He'll probably give me a prescription for a walker and some Geritol. Getting old is a lot of work!

Hey Everybody!
Thanks for the info on NJ docs. If I ever go home for a visit I'll know there's a band doc there. I'm originally from Bergen County and have lots of family there.

Penni, send me an e-mail at work when you get back from Billy's. I'm curious if he's gonna stick a needle in to collect a culture. I hope it's nothing serious. Hurry!

Woe is me....
You think I'm just suffering from Empty Nest Syndrome? I was really, really down today. I had my first fleeting thought of wanting to have my band removed. Not sure what's come over me. I tried watching TV but I fell asleep. I never, ever nap, yet here I am sleeping before 7pm? I just had a glass of Soy chocolate Milk hoping to shut up the sweet cravings. I could never bring myself to try soy in fear of gagging, but the chocolate milk is something I really like. Maybe I should delete the "woe is me thread" because it's such a bummer. Maybe I'll wake up with more sunshine in my head. Peace n' love.

Any One Up For an Exercise Challenge?
I'm going to walk in the morning. I have no clue what's going on with the pain in my feet & legs, but if Marie says walking helps with arthritis, then that's what I'll do. Actually, I'm usually really good about getting in a real good walk several times a week, but I lost so much sleep last week that my bod is really mad at me.

The world's worst hostess? I think I got the crown for that one! I was in the pool while everyone else was cooking and cleaning. So, Leatha, what's your address? I'll cook & clean while you lounge around. Worked for me!

Woe is me....
I'm tired of smiling and being cheerful today, so here's a fun new thread devoted to whining and complaining. Who can whine the best? My back hurts, so do my ribs, feet, ankles, arthritic carpal tunnel hands, and I have a splitting headache. I'm tired. I want to eat gooey sweet crap. My job is boring. I miss my friends. Hmmm... this is depressing me. It's not as fun as I thought it would be.

The saga of my tender port continues
Okay, Penni, wash the make-up off your belly and stop trying to compete with me cause I won, fair and square, and my port is grosser than yours. But all kidding aside, if you're really going to show Billy my pic, tell him I have Blue Shield of California along with HPN through Plumbers & Pipefitters. Yes, it has a California name cuz my home office is in San Diego, but it only covers me in Nevada. Tell him my idea on getting the new port down low in my belly, see if he'd consider doing it all in once visit while jumping up and down on one foot, rubbing your sore port and patting your head.

Lisa, my fur babies prefer peanut butter bones to the beef ones. They're big and stinky, but they won't mind sleeping with you in your bed,

Bad Day
Nobody took the velvet ones, so I kept them. They're a little short & a little loosey goosey, but I might get them tailored for my Xmas party. And the black jacket, very cool!
