ojibway reacted to skylw6 in 7 1/2 months post surgery. Didn’t think I could do this!
    Hello All,

I don’t know if anyone needs this today so I’m posting it in case anyone finds it helpful!

    I had Gastric sleeve on 7/26/18 . I weighed 276lbs.
Post surgery the first six weeks I dropped 35lbs really fast.

Things slowed down a little after that because I kept expecting the rate to stay the same. I have hit plateaus and taught myself not to be a slave to the scale. I weigh myself once a week and after a plateau I waited 2 weeks.

I also work out, but started slowly. I was walking on a treadmill at an incline for the first few weeks. Then I got bored and started to alternate between using an app with all types of workouts and mixing it with the couch to 5K app. In October a long time friend talked me into signing up for a 5K (even though I hate running)!

Today I am 7 and a half months post surgery . I am down 90lbs and completed my first 5K! If I can do it... Anyone can!

detox is difficult! I've had to do it a couple of times after the holidays! too many temptations, but it can be done. I've even done the pouch reset a couple of times too, to get back on track.

Once you add sugars and carbs back in your diet, you crave them more. Ugh it's difficult to detox off it and start over. I have to kick my discipline in and accept that I am going to feel crappy and cranky for a while until it’s out of my system. I get temptation out of the house I keep healthy sweet and salty options on hand I set goals and join weight loss challenges for motivation and accountability I log my crappy choices.

My surgeon's dietician had me eating 5 to 6 times a day for 6 months, high Protein, low carbs. I lost 45 lbs in six months.
    Example:
Breakfast: one hard boiled egg with one turkey sausage
    snack: string cheese
Lunch: Half of a chicken breast and small salad without dressing
snack: Turkey snack bites ( sometimes I would do a Protein shake instead )
supper: chicken breast or fish with green Beans (frozen ones)
    snack: sugar free Jello
PLENTY of Water, I gave up soda and caffeine almost two years ago.
I was never hungry eating 5 to 6 times a day.
GOOD LUCK, you can do this!

Oh man.. reminds me of when my hubby jumped the gun, telling his mother about my first pregnancy. (Yours is worse, though because we would have eventually told MIL about the fetus.. you didn't ever need to tell about the surgery).
What may have happened is your hubby needed to have an outlet.. a way of bouncing his own feelings about your surgery off of a person/people. By restricting his ability to talk to anyone at all, it may have just been too much for him... and much like a diet that goes askew, once you eat that first bite of pie (cheated), then you might as well finish the whole thing.
Regardless of WHY he let the cat out of the bag, you should have the open conversation about it, and try to institute damage control. It's possible the business partner's wife HASN'T been told.. you can keep your fingers crossed about that.
{Hugs} Sometimes people do crappy things.

I think mine was around 1200 to 1800 a day. I looked for my paperwork, but couldn't find it, sorry. I gave up soda, coffee and alcohol and concentrated on Proteins and veggies, I think I drank at least 2 Protein Shakes a day as my Snacks and very minimal carbs. and walked at least 1 mile a day. it was tough, but so I the huge change in lifestyle you are about to do. Please check with your Doctor and Nutritionalist. Best of Luck to you, BELIEVE me when I say that 6 months will fly by! It is all worth it in the end.

ojibway got a reaction from MochaKelly in Phase 1: 90 day diet. Why am I always hungry?
During my 6 month diet required by my insurance, I ate 5-6 times a day. I was never hungry and drank at least 64 oz of Water. I drank one Protein shake a day at the most,
Breakfast: 7 am 1 hard boiled egg and a piece of string cheese
snack: 9 am 2 turkey sausages (like a slim jim)
Lunch: 12 pm 3-4 oz chicken breast, salad with a little vinegar and oil
snack: Protein Shake or no sugar applesauce
Dinner: Turkey Chili and a non starchy Vegetable.
    snack: sugar free Jello.
I mixed up my Proteins to add different flavors. swithed it up, walked everyday and I lost 30 lbs before surgery and the surgery wasn't bad at all. I only felt bad for a couple of days.

ojibway got a reaction from Mickel in Vsg and working in extreme heat, worried about dehydration.
When I returned to work and coaching baseball, I always had minimum of my daily Water intake with me at all times, I always had a cooler with ice, premixed Protein Drink and water with me (at least 64 oz of bottled water), I never knew how my day would go, so be prepared. I've been dehydrated once during the past 10 months and it is horrible. I could drink around 4oz at a time around a month out.

I was one of the lucky ones, I only had pain from my incisions. nothing else. Keep walking and walking too, I would only suggest when you get home to sip, sip, sip everything you drink during the liquid phase. you probably won't have a lot of energy the first few days. I think when you start eating real food again your energy level will take off, at least mine did. GOOD LUCK! and have a speedy recovery

I've had 7 surgeries in my lifetime, 4 knee surgeries, shoulder, sinus and VSG. The VSG was by far the easiest. I was only on pain meds for about 3 days. The incisions only hurt a little bit, I suggest using a pillow to get up and down, (pressing it lightly against your belly. YOU WILL DO GREAT! GOOD LUCK.
