Hi all. Just an update that I'm getting back to normal slowly but surely. I want to push myself and Corey keeps reminding me that it's only been three weeks so I'm trying to find the balance. Speaking of balance, I've gained ten pounds since my back went out. Some of it I know is remnants of the swelling from the surgery but I know better and I've been eating poorly due to boredom, fear, entitlement, all of it. I said I wouldn't be keeping a closet full of different sizes and I mean it. I weighed myself on Monday and owned up to the gain. I've been very thoughtful since then about my choices and am hoping to lose that extra ten lbs. before I head out on my Scandinavian trip a month from now.
Sounds like you are doing well Sharpie and I can't tell you how happy I am for you. Am hoping Julie and JWM are good. I'm FB friends with Lisa and Tammie and they seem to be well. I've no idea what's happened to the others who were on this site. I don't even keep in touch with Virginia (CarolinaGirl) anymore. I want to believe they are living happily ever after but who knows...
I promise to post pictures from my 'trip of a lifetime' when I get back.

Hi all. Just an update that I had my surgery a week ago. I'm dealing with typical post-op pain but the important thing is that I'm walking upright with no more leg pain. Once the incision pain and other related discomforts recede, I am thinking I'll be good to go again. Had a bad day yesterday because I couldn't make it to Opening Day which was really important to me. I spent the day feeling very sorry for myself and eating poorly but that was yesterday and today is a new day.
Hope everyone else is doing well.
    Liz

Had my band surgery 2 years ago at age 66, I don't think you are ever too old to get healthy. I tell friends and family, I wasn't going to ever model swimsuits but I will probably live a healthier life for whatever time I have left. My main goal in getting weight loss surgery was to get rid of diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I was on a collision coarse with serious health issues and I wanted to change course If you are ready to make a change, age doesn't matter.

yes I totally know how you feel. When Bob was in the hospital last week I felt like a lost puppy even though I spent as much time as I could with him, I spent the first night after surgery in his room. he was so sick I stayed up all night hoping he would be okay . we both are so happy when we are together it's scary. I almost forgot how my life was without him. he must have told me 20 times how much he loved me when he was waiting for surgery, think the drugs had him a little nutty.. lol anyway I know that I hate sleeping without him also.. even now he is still sore and not recovered we have to be careful how we cuddle.. I am amazed at how much I love him already . my daughter is finally getting better about him being with me. so, I hope cory is able to stay close to you. Life is such a adventure sometimes , but its all supposed to work out. Take care of yourself and you are in my prayers.

We are all here in our own small way, to support each other . I truly value the input here as life changes (illnesses, deaths, divorces, and ok. Weight gains )keep happening and ....
We have no choice but to deal with them head on!
I send support to all my veteran friends who know how difficult the years get.
( i have a bit of indifference to those boasting about 3 month losses... yet I remember how good it felt to see the weight dropping)

THIS is where I go to see the real, everyday struggles and achievements of my tribe.
    Fondly,

Oh Sharpie...so glad you were there to save him. Wow. Good luck with your surgery. I'm trying to just put one foot in front of the other so to speak. I can't actually walk so that's a very absurd statement..lol.
Anyway...yes, Corey is taking care of me and I would do the same for him. I love this man. I can't say why...I just do. I miss him when he's not here. All of a sudden, I went from someone who enjoyed her alone time to being someone who enjoys his company even when we're busy doing our own things. His son just found out that if he wants to keep his job, he needs to transfer to another state so the reasons for him to stay where he is just changed a whole bunch. I want to fall alsleep next to him every night. I don't like beeing alone in the bed anymore. I just have to be sensible and not let my emotions rule. I know I'm very vulnerable right now so alot of what I'm feeling is about this so of course we won't do anything now except keep on keeping on. Take care of yourself and your man. And don't overeat or make poor choices..lol.
    Love your girls!

    Liz

Reading all the messages and sending my virtual support and prayers. I'm down 53 pounds since getting banded in October. I'm not making progress due to lack of exercise. My knees ache. I'm going to see a sports medicine / orthopedic surgeon tomorrow (Friday). I don't a specific injury. I suspect age and obesity have taken a toll. I'm hoping he does x-rays and identifies the issue. I'm hoping he can give me cortisone injections in both knees to get me relief so I can exercise and take off more weight. I hope I don't need surgery. I wonder if I have arthritis? Hopefully all will be answered tomorrow.

    Lap-banded and love it!

oh my dear Liz I am so sorry to hear about your back issue. But, trust your Dr. and look forward to better days. You are always so optimistic for all of us so you will get better and Cory will help. I haven't been on the forum because, my significant other had a colonoscopy on the 15th, I brought him home and later that night he had horrific pain. I rushed him to my local ER, found out they had pierced his colon during the scope. He was rushed into surgery and it was repaired but what a horrific week. I got him home yesterday and he is doing better, still sore and very tired. Thank God I was with him and he wasn't alone, the Dr. said he could have died. I am having abdominal surgery on the 19th of April and he's on board for taking care of me. We discussed this way back when we first started dating and he absolutely is fine with it. I will be praying for you to recuperate well . I know your guy will take good care of you. Your plans can be re-made and you will be out and about before you know it. Take Care my friend.

so Grateful to be heading for 70 (i'm almost 69) and being healthy.
Grateful that I found the courage to have my lapband surgery
Grateful for my wonderful supportive family
So Grateful that I no longer have diabetes or high blood pressure or high cholesterol
Grateful that I was able to go to Alaska and ride horses (my bucket list)
Now I am grateful that I am physically able to care for my husband who has had some serious health issues lately.
And I am so grateful for my banded friends who posts their successes and difficulties. It's been a good thing for me to be able to discuss the ins and outs of the lapband. I still have no regrets and am extremely happy with my results.

Checking in now and again is a good thing, this is the only thread I follow pretty much. I am doing good, having skin surgery in April to remove my apron. a little nervous but I think it will be so worth it. I have a significant other . started dating him 4 months ago. We are very happy together, we have a lot in common. Did not really think I would take that leap again . Husband died in 2015 and it was a long happy marriage 39 years. but life does go on and I am going to live it . My health is good, no issues with anything. I just had a cold but otherwise I'm good band wise. Hope everyone is doing well and continues on a good path.

I was given a card too however I have ordered kids meals before and haven't had a problem. Also, kids meals are generally not very good for you. chicken Strips, mac n cheese, etc. I sometimes just order an appetizer or Soup and salad . I was at a Red Robin's Restaurant and asked the server about a small portion explained why and he lit up like a Christmas tree, he said OMG I had weight loss surgery too and have lost 100 lbs. I told him how proud I was of him and he made some suggestions form the menu for me. I have not had any restaurant refuse my request.
