  1. Hi all, well this is day 2 and they kept me for another night because the hernia test they gave me this morning was terrible. I had to swallow this concoction that tasted like dawn dish soap and bitter pills. I don't know how I got it down without it coming up. The hernia is ok but I guess when you have hernia repairs it makes everything tighter. They kept me in the hospital another day because they said I haven't got enough fluids in on my own. I'm hoping this all becomes a faint memory. It's been tough. I couldn't even take in s whole Popsicle today.
  2. Lisa, I was banded this afternoon too and I just screamed for more pain meds. This gas issue is soooo bad! I'm a tough cookie but this is horrible. They also repaired a hiatel hernia while he was in there. I had no clue. I've been walking but haven't had anything to eat or drink since prior to midnight yesterday. Because they repaired the hernia I can't drink anything until I have a barium test tomorrow. I've never wanted a glass if Water more than I do now. I feel like I've been in the Mohave dessert for a month. I keep saying I will get they this, and more importantly I have to succeed after this pain and experience. There are no options for anything but success. Hope you feel better soon too. I've been asking the nurses for hot packs to place on my shoulders etc. it's soothing, not sure how much it actually rids the gas, but it feels better.
  3. Chez, they won't let me drink anything because of the hernia repair. I have to wait until morning to do the barium test to see if the repair worked. I've never water a class of water so bad in my life. Not sure the hospital has heating pads but I'm just hoping to get some reprieve from the pains. My stomach incisions don't hurt at all. My tummy just aches from nothing in it since yesterday.
  4. I just got to my room, the surgery was a little more than 2 hours. I had a hernia they had to repair. The gas pain is unreal. The best way I can describe is feeling like I stuffed myself with an excess amount of food and its putting so much pressure on my chest. I have left shoulder pain that's awful!! I'm ok, but I can't wait to feel better.
  5. I'm just checking in at the hospital now too! So excited!
  6. I'll post as soon as I can tomorrow. Odd thing is that My doctor requires an overnight stay with his patients. It really is amazing how different each doctor is with diets, and overall procedures. thanks everyone!

  8. Meant to say excited at the same time. Autocorrect ruins my life! Lol.
  9. Well it's finally here! I got the call today to tell me that I'm scheduled for surgery at 12:30 tomorrow. I've lost 12 pounds on my two weeks of shakes! And of course tonight I'm starving to death! I'm drinking herbal tea and trying to trick myself but its not working. I'm nervous about tomorrow but excited in the right.
  10. Good luck! My surgery is Wednesday! I know what you mean about sleeping, I woke up at 3 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. Good luck with everything and make sure to post and let us know how your doing.
  11. Atkins advantage. Mocha, cafe Carmel and strawberry are really good.
  12. Thanks Everyone! I'm feeling much better about surgery on Wednesday. Can't wait for this to be over!
  13. I'm just curious, how long does the procedure take? I can't remember what the doctor said.
  14. The pre-op diet varies by doctor. Some require all liquids (protein shakes, clear broths, sugar free jello and Popsicles) and some require a combo of that and straight protein (meaning chicken/turkey/fish/egg whites and veggies). Most of the diets are very caloric restrictive. 500-1000 calories per day.
  15. Thanks everyone! I'm feeling better by reading everyone's comments. Thanks everyone.
  16. I have surgery scheduled for Wednesday and I'm getting cold feet. I've lost 11 pounds on the pre-op diet so far and am feeling like maybe if I can continue this I won't need to go thru it. I'm sure others have felt this way but wanted to post to get a reality check. I know the band is a tool to help lose and maintain, but I guess I'm just getting scared.
  17. That's funny that you both like the muscle milk, I could barely get it down! I did however order syntax double stuffed cookie and that was great. I also tried the EAS strawberry and that was really good! I'm happy for you both and wish you much success. Good luck tomorrow!
  18. For scars there's a product called maderma Patches that help scars fade. You get it in the drug store. For stretch marks, coco butter, Shea butter Vitamin E oil can be used to smooth the skin but from what I've seen. Stretch marks really only go away by laser treatment by a dermatologist.
  19. Please Help, I'm on day 3 of pre-op diet and doing well. I have to take clients to lunch today. I can't not have something as that will appear weird. Do you think it's ok to have a salad with chicken and. Fat free dressing? I'm having surgery 11/28.
