Good luck! You'll do fine. Everyone I have talked to is up and moving around fairly independently by day 3

@Provost Maybe you'll still be so tired, you'll be zoned for the flight after going through the airport process? My best friend said days 3-4 post-op were her worst "ouchie" days moving, but then she was doing okay getting around.

My wife is also not supportive at all, maybe not to the extent of yours... no threats of divorce.

She is slowly coming around since I have made it clear that I am doing it (surgery is March 16th). I even had to arrange a friend to care for me when I got out of the hospital when she said she wouldn't do it (I think because it is a requirement to have someone watch you for the first couple days, she thought it was a way to stop it from happening).

I am not sure what is behind it, she struggles with weight as well and maybe she thinks she will be left behind or something. We have young kids and I just want to be able to be more active with them. I can't do things like to to the fairs and go on rides with them because I don't fit, I can't go canoeing or things they are starting to want to do.

@Xx1jpt5xx Just like a couple of others said.... get up and walk walk walk.... it's the best way to "bounce" back. SX on a Wednesday and i was back at work on Monday. I took one pain pill the day i went home.
You can't let her negativity creep into you... You have to put your big boy underwear on and show her. Now i'm not saying go and run a marathon or start powerlifting... but you have to keep moving. Take a walk to the mailbox, to the end of the driveway, to the front door... do not get sedentary...
Set your timer and drink your sips of water/fluid. Drink your Soup broth. I love wonton soup broth... sooooo good. Sip it. Nourishment equals healing...

I lived with a spouse who never supported my weight loss...ever! Always said it was a waste of time. My heart goes out to you. I’m 4 days post and my current spouse supports me 100%. Do what’s best for your family. I had to wait 20 years for my WLS. I WISH YOU THE BEST!

@Provost First of all congratulations on your decision to literally change your life and health status.. I'm very sorry to hear your wife is not as supportive as you would like her to be. However you must do this for YOU . More than likely as she sees your steadfastness without resentment or anger towards her she will come around. Just continue to be nice, smile and do what you have to do.. It may take some time but just hang in there and whatever you do, Do NOT host a pity party . just follow the surgeon and nutritionist instructions to the letter and you will have excellent results... Men lose so much faster and astonishing than women. Max out with the Protein requirements and Water intake . Worry about the other skin issues when and if the time comes.. Save some money in the next year or so just in case and if not then knock yourself out with a total new wardrobe /car . lol .Good luck and God speed to a quick recovery in your fast approaching surgery...… keep in touch here on the forum....

Recovery was not bad . Pain/uncomfortable for first day or two then just tired . Pubic area wasn't that bad but it looks better now with the skin tightening during Tummy Tuck. Very happy with results. Had Lipo of flanks/love handles as well.

We concentrate so much on weight !

Sometimes it's the inches lost that really shows up in your success! As one our bariatric veterans has once posted. " It's called Weight loss surgery but it should be called Fat loss Surgery" I'm ok with the inches lost ..

After my last post, people asked for photos, so here's a photo of me from around my top weight of 485 or so wearing 60" waist pants. The newer photo I took today where I am wearing a 32" waist.

Hello all! I had Gastric Sleeve surgery on 4/9/19. I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary but I am still 20lbs or so away from losing 100lbs. At month 6 I experienced a 3 month stall that I just recently broke after trying intermittent fasting. I'm kinda bummed that I probably won't meet the "100lbs down in a year" goal. Did anyone else NOT lose 100lbs in their 1st year? If you didn't, were you upset or discouraged about it?

My wife wasn't supportive of me having WLS surgery either in the early rounds, but she warmed up to it. She was scared of losing her bad-habit-eating buddy.
Now, believe it or not, she enjoys many of the leaner meals I cook up for us. And of course she is loving a leaner husband!

My husband was against it (married 17 years). He would say things like “you can loose the weight yourself without this” and be discouraging. He didn’t even stay with me in the hospital the first night, my mom did. Bottom line.. I did this for ME! Be too busy with were your headed then who’s coming with you.
