  5. Anyone have any post surgery must haves? I got a food scale, gas x, hearing pad, and Soups for right after surgery. Surgery is friday... Any thing else i need?
  6. I did. I cheated 4 days in my preop. It was only once.. I get my surgery next Friday and I'm going to be perfect until then. My preop is low carb (under 20 a day) so I'm glad I get to eat! I dunno what I would do on liquid only..
  7. That's great! What a great story! Good to hear from someone whose following the rules so well. We all pre opers haven't listened to our body in years! (At least myself)
  8. I cheated in the pre op diet tonight! Basically I'm on a really restricted Atkins. I've been doing my diet to the t and working out and have been perfect. I just caved tonight. Surgery is 10 days away.. I'm freaking out :/
  9. I heard a story about a guy that didn't follow his preop at all and they couldn't do his surgery! They opened him up only to find his liver was huge and hard as a rock. So they opened him up only to tell him that! And that he didn't have the band. Can u imagine how horrible that would be? And he had to pay for it!! That story I think of often and it keeps me on track
  10. Woot woot! Soon2bsmall same date as me!
  11. Lol I dunno I think qt may be right in thinking its the muscle. It's not like the skin hurts or anything it just feels weird. It also kinda tingles on the tops and backside of my thighs
  12. It's mostly on my inner thigh. My thighs are where i carry most my weight I think
  13. I started my preop diet yesterday. Basically it's the Atkins diet but very very very limited carbs. I'm having trouble on finding good foods. Anyone have any advice?
  14. After walking for a while, or anytype of aerobics I guess.. Does anyone else get the tingles in there legs or anything? I've had that my whole life and always joked that it was the fat burning. But thought if ask on here- anyone know what that is?
  15. you can youtube true results and youtube your surgeon. I did that with mine (who i only met once for 2 seconds and im having surgery in less than 2 weeks) but ill be dealing mostly with the staff and im more concerned with if I like THEM or not. My concerns with the surgeon were his success rate, how long hes been doing this etc. but you should youtube them, true results has a channel on there... hope this helps!
  16. Just get approved for financing.. Doing 5 thousand for my loan.. That's sooo much money tho (to me anyway)! I'm so nervous!
  17. My surgeons office requires Atkins as the pre op diet for 2 weeks. A max of 20 carbs per day. Is there anything that y'all liked? Any recipes? Or any foods? Start the diet on Friday!!
  18. Don't be so hard on yourself. I'd kill to lose 60lbs as your still under 60 from your pre op weight. Just stop yourself from allowing that number to creep back up and make that number go back down. Weight is something most of us have struggles with our whole life. We lose then go up. But don't give up. We're human, were going to mess up. We can't be perfect allll the time. Just pick up where u are. Take it day by day. And you'll see that number go down. After all your recognizing the issue now instead of waiting until your current weight is higher than your pre op weight. Which is great!!! You got this girlfriend!
  19. Great job! Not sure what to expect next.. Didn't hard to do a 6 month diet. But your surgeons office should keep In touch with u as to what h need to do when! Woo Hooo!! Congrats on the beginning of your journey !
  20. I'm sorry but your question about exercising struck me. We are all getting banded to change our life and lose weight. Exercise is part of a healthy lifestyle and helps you lose weight. For optimum health it's best to exercise.. Even if only a few times a week. Is there a medical issue that would prevent u from exercising? Or is it jus that u do t want to?
  21. I have my final visit with surgeon, nutritionist, and EKG Monday. Start my preop diet right after for surgery on the 25th. I talked with my partner tonight and now she says she doesn't think I should do it? She's concerned about the risks. It worries me... The risks. And asking myself why can't I just give it a good strong "diet" try for a few years and lose the weight that way. But I've tried and yried and failed so many times. Anyone else nervous e? And second guessing it? Failure rate is high, extra skin is almost a guarantee, and what's this I hear about it slipping or eroding or my body rejecting it?
  22. Congrats lvaughn 12!!!! What a quick time frame from approval to surgery! That's great!! Best of luck to everyone! Let this month be the beginning of a new "us"!
  23. One of the things they told me is to let them control the journey. I believe that to an extent... But basically what I took is tell them what I want/need then let them do their work. Depending on the situation they may have called me right away. Right now I'm waiting for them to set up my phsyc Evals and nutritionist stuff. It's been a few days (4 total) but u think its bc of the holiday and the weekend. If ur concerned about something call them! After all your paying them for their service. Lemme know if u need any more help! I've met Austin team and San Antonio team! Their all great!!
  24. I think it's the majority of us pre banders think that. I mean we're all use to failing. And we're going into this without a guarantee that it will work. In my opinion... No weight loss surgery is going to work if we don't change our lifestyle. If we continue to put the same crap in our mouths we can't expect different results. Eventually the weight will come back. I think we just have to look at the lapband as a tool to help us stay on track. It's just a tool, (a very expensive one). Most weight gain or loss is a mental effort. If your addicted to food, as I am and I'm sure many others then that's an addiction that you have to break.... Mentally. I'm going with the lap band because I feel it's a tool that will help me stay on track. As many others too. I've lost the weight before and know what it takes. Deep down under all this fat there is a fit person that loves being at the gym.. And looks at food as energy. I think we all can change to that.. Sorry for the rant... This is just a question I've been battling personally as well
