  1. I have no idea what that means
  2. Anyone know anyone who has been banded ten years or more? My fear is they say you can live with the band.. But I haven't met anyone whose had the band longer than a few years.
  3. Just wondering how long you all have had the band for?
  4. I was in the same boat but missing two years, and the surgeons office didn't sound very confident in sending any records over. I have since found a new surgeons office and they mentioned if I have a hiatial hernia my insurance will cover for half the surgery. I'm getting my edg to find out on the 27th. Since checking with two different surgeons officices they have both told me different things pending an insurance approval. But one did ask me if I visited the year prior and what my weight was so u may want to check that. If not, maybe see if any pictures or weight watchers or any other recorded weight records will work or someone suggested a picture with the date on it then a handwritten letter of why your missing that year... Good luck to you!!!
  5. I think it's a good idea to review all the negatives along with the band as well. I feel for you and what you may be going thru with having a daughter. We are the same age but I have no children. I haven't been banded yet but pending if I have a hiatal hernia (aka insurance pays for half) is pending on if I choose to get the surgery now. This is a huge life altering decision that you have to be prepared and commited to. I suggest to do your research on this forum but also YouTube and other websites. Maybe ask friends who have had the surgery as well. Also most places will offer a free consultation as well to just get more information. But this is my opinion from someone who hasn't been banded but had basically made the decision to get banded... Just gotta figure out finances. good luck to you!!
  6. Surgery scheduled in San Antonio jan 25th! Pending that I have a hiatal hernia. Egd is scheduled for December 27th. I've never wanted something wrong with my health so bad! Such a weird feeling! Lol
  7. Tomorrow is my first appt with my surgeon.. I was at work when scheduling the appt so couldn't really ask a lot of questions.. But anyone know what to expect?
  8. 2.99 in Dallas.... Woot woot!!!
  9. I found this website when I was considering the sleeve surgery... Thought it was really informative and wanted to share it with you all!!! Www.lapbandsurgery.com/gastric-banding/gastric-sleeve-vs-lap-band/
  10. How quickly we're they able to schedule your surgery date from the time that you had the edg done?
  11. I went and met with true results to discuss self pay options. Even tho my insurance covers it I don't meet the years of documentation they're requiring. The patient advocate said I may have a hiatial hernia because I get acid reflux often.. Which then they'd pay for nearly half of the surgery. Is anyone else In a similar boat? Or did u go thru true results? If so how was it?
  12. I'm 5' 8'' and when I was 216 I was considered obese.. Even when I lost weight down to 186 I was still considered overweight... And I thought I looked great. Sometimes you can't always go off of the bmi table and u just have to go off of personal opinion. However, when I was 216 I felt I was a lot bigger than I was. Now being 310 I'd give anything to be back at that weight. This app is a great tool for some great advice. I wish I would have been more thankful for where I was when I was there. And I wish I would have made the changes then to a healthier lifestyle. Now instead of going over the hill I feel like I have a mountain to move :/... Best of luck to you and your decision...
  13. I am so sorry this happened to you! Stay strong!!!! Everything always works out in the end!!! Keep fighting for what u want!
  14. I just went to visit true results and they suggested I may have a hernia bc I have gastric reflux? Does getting an egd hurt? And what does it entail?
  15. Gordon Ramsey Dubai ? Omg! Sounds amazing!!! Goodluck! How did I handle 5 years of going back and forth?
  16. I have uhc and they require a 5 year medical recorded weight of 1 each year from a physicians office. Well since I didn't visit the doctors office In 2007 and 2008 I don't have a recorded weight for that year. Now I need to wait till 2014 to even submit my ppwk to insurance. So it's not an approval story........... Yet! Lol
  17. Who is ur insurance thru?. And how did they know it was for that period of time?
  18. Insurance can't approve me bc I didn't visit the doctor once a year for the past 5 years. So I gotta wait till 2014. To even submit ppwk to insurance. It's 10 k outta pocket... Anyone else in the same boat? Any advice? Kinda bummed right now :/
  19. Ok so I got a call today from the surgeons office and they've contacted my insurance and found out my insurance does cover it which is great. My bmi is over 40 so that's good. But she said they need 5 years (1 recorded weight via physician each year) I believe I may be missing a year. Anyone run into this before?? The next step is to meet with the physician on Thursday to see if he feels I'm a candidate then to submit my paperwork. But is it worth amortization g if I don't have everything they need? Thanks!!
  20. Lol wow!!! That's great! How has your experience been so far?
  21. Thanks for starting this thread! If self pay is my only option I won't be going to Mexico but this sounds like an option!!
  22. I just want everyone's opinion whose had surgery and lost weight. Or I guess anyone who had an opinion about this for that matter. Do you believe that after your weight loss more career opportunities opened up?
  23. Woohoo whose your I insurance thru?
  24. Thank you for the great replies! Colin, this isn't really a situation to be taken lightly. Thanks again!
