I'm still waiting to hear if I'm approved with my insurance. I don't believe e paperwork has even started yet. I haven't even met with my surgeon (only my primary care physician). But do u guys feel that self pay is worth it? If I don't get approved I may just do self pay. I won't be going to Mexico tho. My friends brother went to Mexico for dental work a few years ago and never came home. To this day no ones heard from him :/. It'd prob be like 15 k? I'm in the Austin area

Just faxed over my insurance and paperwork to the surgeons office. Waiting for them to call me (takes about 2 weeks). Not sure that I currently fit all of the criteria so I may have to wait 6 months to get approved but I feel it'll be worth the wait. Met with my regular physician yesterday to get bloodwork and discuss the surgery options. Anyone else in the early beginning stages? Just want to say how helpful u all have been! I tried all different types of eating disorders back in the day to loose weight. I've since have never considered the thought of doing it again. I even went to a therapist about it a few years ago. Will this hinder me in my approval process from uhc? I'm wondering if I can use my meetings with my therapist as help for my approval? Or if my past eating disorders will hurt me?

Do the last 5 years need to show a bmi over 40 or just a bmi that shows you've been obese for that long? What if u missed a few years of visiting the doctor? This is regarding the choice plus program

Hello all! I'm thinking of getting surgery as stated in my subject line and I'm so happy I found you all! Your stories are really helping me make my decision.
