Should I go onto my husbands insurance kaiser or stay with United Healthcare? Which is less strict? What is kaisers guidelines?

Does anyone know a surgeon in MD that will really work with you through the insurance process?

Now what about past weight records? I haven't been morbidly obese for that long?

If your BMI is 40 do you not need the last 5 years of weight records? Is it only when your under 40 that you need that?

I have United Healthcare and I went for my first consult today, I have to go to some nutrition classes and get some testing done. Since I'm 37 with no medical issues don't have to get to a BMI of 40 to get the surgery? I hate to gain anymore weight!

My BMI is 37.59 I have United Healthcare with no medical issues, I'm very borderline!

I'm hoping I'm covered I'm at a BMI of like 38 so it's really borderline! I have no medical conditions either, but my doctor doesn't submit anything until about a month before I'm ready for surgery and completed the nutrition classes!

What's your experience with them? They are saying I need preauthorization first before I can start seeing my nutritionist. The doctor said they don't submit anything into the insurance until I'm almost done my nutrition classes? Kinda confused!

Hi all! My name is Toni! I'm just starting my lap band journey! I went to the doctor today, and I now have to attend nutritional classes an have some testing done! My insurance company said they cover the surgery I just need to take 2 nutritional classes a week for 3 months! The schedule my doctor gave me is only one class per months? So I'm waiting to hear back in what to do!
