Today I decided that I am now going with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. I am still having my surgery on April 10th. I knew he cost more but I felt more comfortable with him. Can't wait soo excited and also thanks to Amanda Rae for all the insight.

Hey everyone... I'm scheduled April 1st with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali! Luckily... it is not April Fools Day in Mexico.

Oh MzMeka... I am definitely not stuck with you and I think we will form our own little sleeving family while we are there! You are going to love Gracie and she is going to help all of us understand what the heck is being said in Spanish!
My pre-op diet starts tomorrow... I am having my last meal tonight... alone... and doing way too much thinking and worrying! I went and purchased things for the trip today and some Protein liquid for the 15 day clear post-op diet... SF Jello... etc. I also broke down and got a Ninja blender thang since the revision is going to have me on liquids and mushies for quite awhile.
So... here I sit... drinking a glass of red wine after eating Pasta and trying to distract myself from thinking too much about the big changes ahead of me. Having this surgery is cutting off every single thing I have used for comfort for years and dang... I am scared!
How are you doing? Are you starting pre-op diet tomorrow too? How's the anxiety part going for you? If you ever want to chat... let me know...I'm happy to share my number.
P.S. If I am not barfing... I will be the one bugging everyone to get up and walk... just letting you know ahead of time so you can lock your door...lol.

I quit smoking smoking 6 days ago and have been on CHantix for 2 weeks... I had quit for 5 years and started again in a time of high stress on year ago. It was horrible the last time I quit and even with Chantix it is still pretty bad! I wish I could have quit earlier... it will only be a total of 2 weeks prior to my surgery which is not great.
It is a powerful... destructive... stinky... expensive and terribly unhealthy habit... I tell myself this over and over and over...lol. I'm praying that I don't have complications ... and I have learned my lesson... this will be the last time I go through the torture of quitting!
We'll show those sticks who is boss!

In regards to freezing... a gal suggested I take the warming Patches for sore muscles and the handwarmers that you squeeze and they stay warm for quite awhile... I already have them in my bag!

I know everyone has to consider the financial aspect of having bariatric surgery but please take the time to really research and talk directly to other patients that have had surgery with the Surgeon you are considering. My surgeon will be Dr. Aceves and he is more expensive but has the experience that I felt comfortable with for a revision. I have seem many warnings in regards to Dr. Almanza and although that not a substitute for actual experience with a surgeon... I would prefer not taking chances with my life... but that is just me. There are many surgeons that are reasonable and very few complaints... I'd go that direction! I also talked with Ron when I was researching and he was quick to respond with information I requested. Good luck with your journey and the surgeon you ultimately choose!

Boy how time flies! Scheduling my revision has been such a whirlwind of "ta dos" and now... here I am thinking I will be sleeved on April 1st! It's just around the corner and I am excited... scared... worried... hopeful... and a million other emotions! I will be so glad to have my Lapband removed... especially the port as it has bothered me for 9 long years. I pray that my journey to Mexico and my surgery with Dr. Aceves both go as planned!

I can't wait to meet Dr. Aceves! Pretty scared about the surgery but it helps to see your experience... thanks so much for sharing... especially for those of use that will be following in your footsteps! Good luck with your next leak test... and I bet you will be glad to get that drain out!

It's exciting that we've connected beforehand. I'm flying on Easter from Ohio and landing in San Diego at 10:55am.

Congrats Amanda Rae! I hope the pain and nausea subside soon and that you are able to get up and walk the halls a bit! You sure have a lot of fans here wishing you well and I am wishing the same for you. Tomorrow will be better and don't forget to tell me that when it is my turn!

Hi! I am having surgery with Dr. Aceves the 1st week of April and am as nervous as a cat in a sack! I feel really confident about my choice of surgeon and even more confident after watching some of the videos that others have made about their experience in Mexicali. Nina has been wonderful and has had much patience through my times of stress and anxiety during this process. It has been quite a journey to choosing the right surgeon for me and along the way I have learned so much! My passport arrived 2 days ago... deposit is paid... tickets booked and hopefully I will have financing in place soon. This is really hard for me to do financially with one income but everything is falling into place. LessOfSarah videos are awesome... watched them today and felt so much more at peace about my decision. Wishing the best to all that have had or are waiting to have surgery with Dr. Aceves.

Hey All... Back from Cabinland! It was WONDERFUL having indoor plumbing once again and this time I actually ventured into the whirlpool tub...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I think we are going to buy it... we really do love it there... the problem will be getting me to stay home... ever.

Betty... Snow... WOW...lol... I actually thought of you when we watched the news and they told of snow in Texas...lol. Of course... we had snow Saturday but that is certainly more normal around these parts! So sorry about your Aunt... (((hugs)))

Before I was banded... I watched my sister go through the gastric bypass... I was highly irritated by the folks that wouldn't even aknowledge her weight-loss because she had bariatric surgery... as if it didn't count because she wasn't losing it "on her own". Well... news flash... if one is going to WW or Jenny Craig... or any program... they are getting tools to help them do it on their own... just like we are. I even heard titterings of... "she'll gain it back"... well... the person that said that was attending WW... lost a huge amount of weight and guess what... SHE did gain it back and my sister hasn't said one unkind word to her and she looks pretty darn fabulous in her silence.
