Too much fill? Can't decide
Sounds like it to me that this is your stop point. Many of us get stop points, mine was an ice cream headache, others have experienced a runny nose, a hiccup or a pain in the shoulder. If you have to throw up everyday, you are too tight, constant throwing up on a daily basis is not good for your band, you risk slippage, having as littler as .2 ccs removed makes a huge difference in being able to eat without throwing up but still able to lose weight. 1.8 for your first fill seems like alot, I would not wait until your next appointment call your Dr and tell him you are throwing up everyday, I bet he will agree you are too tgiht. I know my doctor would not like to hear I was throwing up everyday he would definately want me in for a slight unfill.

School Bully's
I have always told my 3 boys to be the better person and just walk away, dont let then get to you two wrongs do not make a right. Now a days is does not matter who starts the confrontation all involved get punished for it so standing up for yourself couldresult in troulbe with the school as well. No one bothers my boys becasue they know they will get no where with it.

Sounds to me like they are giving instructions for an RNY patient. I have never heard of such a thing. Who is your doctor?

What is my Malfunction! I'm not losing!
It's a proven fact that any kind of anti depressant slows down your metabolic rate. Many doctors will not tell you this. I was on Paxil and it was my demise with my weight gain. Also 1000 calories a day is not enough. Try upping it to 1200-1300 ...many people think if they do not eatthey will ose weight, you have to eat to lose weight. Eat more often throughtout th day like 6 mini meals to keep your metabolism going especially if you are taking and anti depressant. Just my 2 cents worth...good luck

Bi-Polar Meds - The skinny and the fat
I can relate to your situation First let me say all of my weight gain was from my Paxil I was on for 1.5 yrs and gained 70 lbs. Me too! The anti depressants will slow down your metabolic rate is what I was told by my PCP to almost zero, the meds are used for depression but after time for me I was more depressed from my weight gain then from what I was being treatedfor so I quit. Secondly, my son who is 19 is Bi-Polar he was also on the lithium whicvh made him a zombie, no motivation and all he did was sleep, then he went to depakote and his blood pressurewas so high the doctor was in fear he would have a stroke, so he quit taking that, then the prozac which did not do much so he is now smoking marijuana, he has one of those cards from his doctor where he can gfet it legally, it has been the only thing that has worked for him. No bi-polar episodes but every now and then he has panic attacks so takes an occassional xanax. Every person that I know personally who has taken any kind of anti-depressant has had weight gain, you may find that just getting off of the anti depressante will be enough and wil lstill be able to take your bi-polar meds my son never had weight gain taking his bi-polar meds if anything he lost weight. Have you ever tried lexapro, that is an anti depressant that my husband takes and has had no weight gain it works well for him, my doctor told me it has the least chance of weight gain..but everyone is different.

migrains and vomiting?
this could be your "full" signal since as bandsters we do not feel that full feeling any longer. What happens is you get a signal, some have runny noses, some havea hiccup, others have a pain in the shoulder. I had the headaches, it was only at dinner, it was like a ice cream headache. Listen to your body this could be your signal telling you that you are full if it only happens when you eat.

Flower, wise thing you did for your health and for the longevity of your band..a too tight of fill can lead to many bad things.

Does Anyone Follow the Weight Watcher's Program After Banding?
I was banded for 18 months it took me 18 months to lose my 104 lbs

Does Anyone Follow the Weight Watcher's Program After Banding?
I am confused by this...you said getting the band is a total change in your eating habits but then you say you eat everything you used too..what eating habits changed for you with your band other then portion control? Without your band would you eat the same things? . I have no band anymore so I can not go back to eating how I did pre band. I hope you are fortunate to have your band forever and not have it eroode like mine did. I was the perfect bandster for 18 months . I never abused my band I followed the rules I made healthy choices. I used my head with the band which is why today have not gained any of my weiht back in the last 10 months. I joined WW to help me lose the last 20-30 lbs I did not lose with my band. Doesnt matter which program, diet, band or other you use, if your head is not into it and you do not change your eating habits ..the end result will always be the same..gain the weight back. Even with the band you can still gain weight if you do not change your habits in your head and your food choices . We all know there are ways to eat around the band.

Does Anyone Follow the Weight Watcher's Program After Banding?
I lost over 100 lbs with my band but the it eroded. I have been banless for 10 months now and have managed to keep the 100 lbs off but I still want to lose more So A month ago I started weight watchers, like you said not so much for the points but for the support and encouragement. I feel more accountable and make better food choices when I know Iam going to WW every week to weigh in. I had my 4th weigh in this morning and I have lost 8 lbs. However the points system is very easy to follow and you can eat anything you want, its just a matter of tracking your points.

No more band
I am sorry to hearyou lost your band .I too was a patient of Ortiz I had my band for 18 months and went from a size 22 to a 10-12. I lost my band too so I know how you are feeling but on a possitve note it is very possible to maintain your weight loss I have maintained my 100+ lbs now for 10 months without my band. I know you are pregnant so it may be a little more of a challenge but we are all here to offer you support. best of luck to you during your pregnancy. right now is the time to focus on healing from surgery and your pregnancy..weight loss will come later

No support from friends.
Sure you can , you have in the past according to your post with WW but that is not the question. The questions is can you lose the weight without surgery and KEEP IT OFF. Everyone of us here has lost weight without surgery but none of us kept it off that is why we got the band. I have been bandless for almost 11 months now and I have kept off all of my 100+ lbs I lost with my band, not easily I must add but I am doing it. All I can say is this, anyone who does not support you in this is not a true friend or lover. Plain and simple!

I'm a bad bandster-a badster!
Yes you can but if you can do that without pain then you need more fill or to have your band checked for a leak. When I had 2cc's in my 4 cc band there was NO way I could drink with my meals and push my food through without having the most horrible horrible pain and feeling like I was backing up like a toilet.

One month post-op very restricted still
All I can say to you is take advantage of the restriction while you can without a fill, you are one of the few. I too had restriction up until 9 weeks post op. Go with it!!!

A Mexican Mess!!!
Have them either your PCP or your Dr. in MX to check for a port infection, I do not mean to alarm you but an infection in your port can lead to the band eroding. As much as an inconvenience it may be to go to MX you need to cal lyour MX doc or go to MX and have them check it out. I know of more then one bandster who had port infections and the all have eroded. This is not something to wait until your insurance kicks in for. This is serious, I wish you the best and hope you get back to ormal soon Who was your Dr.???

Unfills for vacation purposes
If I was to tell my Dr. I wanted my band unfilled so I could eat on vacation I know for a fact he would say NO!!! I wouldnt be questioning my doctor, I would be questioning myself why I would even think of such a thing. When I was a t my tightest, I was stil lable to eat any food, just took me alot longer and I ate alot less of it. Vacationing with the band was the best for me. I could still enjoy food but not gain weight.
