Hi & Welcome to LBT This is a great site for lots of support and information. Alot of caring kind people here.. Wishing you the best
  2. Lots of us bandsters lost hair right after surgery...I think it is a combination of things, anasthesia, lack of protein, lack of fat in your diet...Once your body adjusts it does get better...my hair loss is very minimal now 16 months post op
  3. Keep the Protein high , it will keep the hunger down..lower carb intake. Start your da ywith protein, no carbs you will be amazed atthe difference. Fopr me it is vital to have no carbs for breakfast, if I do..I'm doomed all day long, I pick and graze and never feel satisfied Carbs and sugar only crave more carbs and sugar..Viscious cycle , once you start you cant stop.
  4. Congratulations, I wish you lost of success with your new band. Heres to a happier healthier life!
  5. Vines you have the right attitude, I'm right there with you Brenda---You have lost 132 lbs AMAZING, it only normal for your body to slow down, maybe take a reprieve for a few weeks ( dont go crazy with food) but less focus o nthe scale. Even though the sacale is not moving all that exercise is going to re-shape your body. THis is what I have noticed. People keep telling me all the time " wow you've lost more wieght" I haven't my body is just changing and shaping from the exercise and we all know muscle weighs more then fat so if your building muscle this could bew why the scale is not moving, if you know you are doing everything right and everthing you can do, then that should be all that matters, not what the scale says!
  6. MC. Dr. Ortiz in TJ has preformed the band on many bypass patients. There are a few of his bypass/band patients on his web site you can speak with at lapbandforum.com . I know right now he is one of a few that do it. Met a woman in his office in July who couldnt find a Dr. in the U.S. to preform it so she flew in from the US for the surgery.
  7. I was on a plateau since April I tried just forgetting about weight loss not stressing about it, not getting on the scale..it works for me to just let go..I have lost 2 lbs not even trying. For me it seems when I exercise I do not see a movement in the scale but when the next week comes and I do not exercise the scale moves. GO figure. I do not worry so much any more about the sclae and it's numbers, if it take me another year to get these last 5-10 lbs off then I'm content as long as I'm not gaining. I have so many other possitive thing to be grateful for since my band. Try letting go, take a step back from the scale for a couple of weeks . You may see a difference when you do get back on it in. It works for me.
  8. Hi Tess & Welcome to LBT..This is a great site for suport and questions you need answered. Good luck on your insurance covering you, if not there are other options so dont give up if the band is what you REALLY want! Best of luck to you
  9. Yes, it is so sad.... I woke up this morning and turned on the news and New Orleans is under Water and officials can not figure out why water rose during the night and why it is still is rising They are going to need more money then FEMA and Red Cross can provide, it is going to be a national fundraiser like the Tsunami or Sept 11th
  10. Karen, I am so happy for you. Im glad you got relief and feel better. Good girl you were for being the smart bandster and listening to your body instead of thinking the weight loss was great no matter how bad the discomfort was . Your band and body will thank you for it in the end.

Vines I can relate to this..I have no women friends, all of my friends are men. I read the sports page everyday and watch ESPN where as the other women I know read Vogue or Glamour Magazine and watch Nip & Tuck I got to baseball games where the other women go shopping at Nordstrom's But I can tell you one thing I am happier then all of them. We all fit in this world in our own little way, each of us gives something to this world that others don't. Honestly I think most of us here felt like we never fit in..I think it is more from being the fat kid all of our lives not from our likes & dislikes ...ignorant people all of our lives never gave us the chance to feel like we fit in. You fit in perfectly here Vines..we love you
  12. Flower, glad you are all fixed up and found your way back here
  13. For all of you ladies who are nervous...Dont be nervous. ( what are you nervous about? Or is it excitement?) This years group is smaller then last years, it is very low key and very casual just like Lisa said. It's about getting together and finally getting to know eachother on a more personal level. Lisa is a great host and makes you feel very at home..Bring your cameras and appetite, and I hope you all can drink! ( and swim) LOL and I hope you all are ready to laugh your asses off. If it is anything like last years bash...you're gonna have a blast!!! Lisa are you making Carols famous Margaritas?
  14. Bowling Coke or Pepsi?
  15. Hmmm.. 1. The band is a tool, not a magic wand, we have to do some of the work if we want the band to work it's best 2. Patience Patience Patience , the lbs are not going to fall off. There will be times you gain and times you plateau 3. Do NOT weigh everyday or more then once a day!
  16. Sending you good vibes that all is well on the 8th Hope you are having a great time in Cape Cod
  17. Audrey, awesome job.. I love your attitude, that is very inspiring to me as my weight loss has come to a snails pace but I am happy and content with my 95 lbs lost in 16 months from a size 22 to a 10 and a BMI of 42 to a 29. I will not let the numbers scale dictate my success, your story has proven you have not either your attitude is fantastic!..Good for you! I'm very happy for you
  18. Yes it is, my doctor told me eating after 20 minutes defeat s the purpose of trying to fill your pouch since after 20 minutes food is slowly falling through which means it will never get full if it is emptying as you eat. The 20 minutes has worked great for me. Once your filled right eating longer then that becomes a chore, atleast for me it does.
  19. I dunno, I am still thinking I'm a fraud, and if I go, y'all will find out.
  20. Vera, Proud of you girl! I know how important this NSV was to you. So happy you accomplished it
  21. Usa a smaller fork, this forces smaller bites and slows you down. I use one of those little crab forks, it works great Once you get your fills, you'll be lucky to eat for 30 minutes before you know you are done..I was told 20 minutes but every doctor is different.
  22. Glad to hear you are OK Paula
  23. My first thought would be slippage, but you say your band is in place. Do you vomit everyday after every meal? Will anything stay down? Vomiting with liquids and food could be a sign of slippage from what I was told by my Dr. Let us know how it goes today at the doctor
  24. DeeJay read the link below, of course it is normal to be hungry you have NO Fill!!! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=9148&highlight=struggling
  25. LOL..great NSV.. I loved it when I finally weighed less them y husband, first time in 15 yrs Congrats! keep it up
