  1. Teresa the garden firttata sounds great I might have to put that on the menu at my restaraunt Yum Yum I'm going to go in there this morning and make it since I have all of those ingredients on hand there. I have a fabulous chiken recipe for those of you who are not tired of chicken yet. This is my families all time favorite Chicken Wondermere 1 can golden mushroom Soup 1 can cream of chicken soup 1/2 c sour cream (fat free if desired) 1/2 c mayo (fat free if desired) 1/2 c shredded cheddar cheese( fat free if desired) 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts in a 9x13 pan place chicken and mix remaining ingredients together in a bolw and pour over chicken cook 1 hour uncovered at 350 ( Can be served over white rice or egg noodles) Mock Spaghetti For those of you who can not do Pasta or want sphagetti without the carbs 1 spaghetti squash cut in half and bake cut side down for 40 minutes at 350 your favorite meat sauce cook spaghetti sqaush and remove from skin, it looks just like spaghetti once it is cooked then pour over your favorite meat sauce...while my family enjoys the real deal I make this for myself and everyone is happy These next two I got from another group and both are delicious Mock Danish 1 egg 2 tbsp cream cheese 1 tsp lemom juice 1 packet of splenda or equal 1tbsp of vanilla mix together and microwave for 2 minutes or until done This tastes just like a cheese dansih without the carbs Artichoke Chicken 4 boneless skinless breasts 1 can cream of chicken soup 1 jar of marinated artichoke hearts diced and cut 1 cup of mayo 1/2 cup of grated parmessan cheese Mix all together and pour over chicken and bake 350 uncovered for 1 hour (can be served over rice or egg noodles)
  2. Hi Whippleddaddy I concur with the reasons above for chosing the band over the bypass. Jessi's book is a good read for anyone considering to have surgery, I too reccomend getting that. What questions do you have that we can answer for you? With all of us crazy women I'm sure we can give you all the info you need to let you make an informed choice with the band. Seriously though...any questions you have about the band just post em and you will get lots of valuable info. Good Luck on your decision
  3. How much was your first fill? It could be that you have too much of a fill and may need to have just a tiny bit removed. Sometimes it can take a couple of days for your fill to kick in this is why you are now experiencing discomfort instead of on the 19th, my fill took a week to kick in. It has been a month and a half since my fill and I can honestly say I still have restriction and I only had 1.1cc's Today has been a very tight day for me, havent been able to eat much without getting the golf ball feeling in my chest. If you continue to experience this pain just on liquids please call your doctor and explain it to him. If you have this with liquids ...solids will be hell. Good Luck to you
  4. Dr. Kuri's after care is awesome..there is another group in yahoo called OSCB...most of them have used Dr. Kuri and I'm sure they will be more thne happy to answer any of your questions Here is their web site.. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/OSCB/
  5. Hi Angel I had a BMI of 42 which is high for my height I was a self pay in Mexico. It cost me 8995.00 For everything. It has been the best money spent on myself ever. I love my band! There are several experienced doctors in Tiajuana Mexico Dr. Kuri....Dr. Ortiz..to name a couple of them. Both are very reputible. They were both trained by Inamed. Several women here also went to Mexico to have their surgery so I'm sure you will get many responses to your post. Good Luck your search and with your decision on surgeons.
  6. Some times your fill can take a few days to a week to kick in. My first fill took about a week. Then like Marie ..Bam! Restriction! Still have it too 6 weeks later...
  7. Hi Sultana I have read Jessi's book It was OK...honestly it is alot of what us bandsters all ready know. I would highly reccomend it to any one considereing the band or anyone who is just fresh out of surgery. It is very easy to read, you will read it in a couple of hours. It is 23.95 (a little high priced for a 132 page easy to read book) but I now have a copy of it to share with others who are considering the band or who are newly banded for it Just my opinion..
  8. Teresa your crying is normal...I have told Lisa on several occassions that my emotions are out of control. My therapist warned me of this... I guess I used to eat instead of cry before the band. So now that I do'nt eat...I cry. It's just my emotions coming out instead of me hiding them with food. makes sense right? I now longer eat for comfort or emotional reasons..so my emotions are all coming to the surface. It does get better as time passes... for me it was mainly the first 2.5 months. I seem to be doing much better these days except my PMS week and then WATCH OUT! It's normal... You are not driving anyone crazy either...you are to sweet to do that.
  9. Hi Janis 3 more days and you will be officially banded. Just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you...hope all goes grea for you on the 23rd... Let us all know how things went when you are feeling up to it!

Hi B And welcome I also live in Southern California (orange county area) I was a self pay and went to Mexico. I have no regrets what so ever. I would do it again in a heartbeat it is worth every penny I spent. I'm 3 months out and have lost 36 pounds as of this morning. Tiajuana has several very experience band surgeons...Dr Kuri..Dr. Ortiz just to name a couple of them. Many of us here on this board went to Tj to have our surgeries preformed. I'm in the same boat as you, my insurance would not cover the band and I wasn't going to waste time fighting them on it so I opted to self pay and so happy I did. Otherwise I'd still be haggling about it with my insurance company and now I'm 36 pounds lighter and no hassle from the insurance comapny. You will love this support group here. Everyone here is so friendly, knowledgable , supportive and helpful. I'm a memeber of several other boards but I find this site to be the best so I am here alot more then the others. I second Pennis advice on getting Jessi's book it is very informative for people thinking of getting the band and for us Newbies...Good Luck with your decision on whoever you choose. You will be so happy you did it... I love my band!
  11. Happy Monday to all of you... I want to start a scale challenge...this is for all of you (including myself ) that get on that scale more then once a week... Today I have made the challenge to myself to only get on it every Monday morning.. As of this morning my weight is 229 This is a great way to not obsess with what the scale reads through out the week if I have some challengers to do it with me Next weigh in Monday 7/27 Any takers??

Ruthy Congrats on your surgery date...You are going to love your band. You will be so happy you chose the band over the bypass. The complications with the band are nearly none compared to the complications with the bypass. This site is great. Lots of knowledgable people here who are very caring and sincere unlike other boards (wont mention any names) Don't be shy. Come here often, post often and read often.
  16. Leslie you are normal. I experienced the feeling of having to burp but could'nt...it went away at about 2.5 weeks post op Debra - Good Luck tomorrow, I will say a prayer for you

  19. Alex Thanks for such a awesome post. Your post did not offend me at all if anything it inspires me . I only hope at 11 months I havent had any problems. So far I'm 3 months out and going good. Congratulations on your 60 lbs . You must be so proud of yourself and feel so good about your self. I'm proud of you
  20. My docs instruction were as long as you are lsing 1-3 pounds a week, no fill is needed. If you go 2-3 weeks with no weight loss then schedule a fill. I think you are doing the right thing.
  21. I'm sorryto hear of your leak..but your doctor found it and you now have anwsers as to why you werent losing so that should be some what of a relief at least you know its not you and anything you have done. Contact Inamed personally and alos tell them what has happened, they will help you The anxiety and frustration will all go away once you get all fixed up .You will be losing again in no time. Hang in there!
