I lived in Italy for 13 years. They are top notch doctors in university hospitals ( teaching hospitals) with ZERO bedside manner. They are using lapband at a greater rate than ever before. As a whole they are not as obese a country as the US and they are twice the population of California but just half the size. So they may not have the upper hand on quantity but I'd trust any of them with my life. Sitting on a couch in America globalizing statements with no backing is not conducive to a productive group discussion. We all must hold our own trial, be our own jury, make our own decisions. It's just nice to get others opinions once I a while. This is my opinion of course. If my device must be removed down the road, so be it. Today, I am using this tool to make myself healthier and a whole lot happier!

I also was married young to a real loser and left after 3 years. Now I'm married to a great guy ( next year will be 20 years) Had a little 6th grade grad party for my son today. (Just family so small. sIL too chicken to show his face.). my little guy was so surprised! We signed him up for football too so he's getting all grown on me! I didn't find the article offensive. It's too early to see if Christie has what it takes to succeed. I prefer reading and article like this than watching the YouTube video interview of Jillian Michaels that's says the lap band is " wiring your stomach shut" and that it is "barbaric" I've spent too much time caring about others opinions before caring about mine. Dee, I'm so sorry about your doggie! So sad for you. My daughter called me last night outraged at her husband who is chatting with another woman on Facebook and late night calling her for hours. Exactly how he got her to run off and marry him. He is such and ass! She confronted him and told him what se would do to him and her if and to cut all ties or else. She told me "that bastard just needs to give me a reason to leave this hell I'm in!" I told u that they met in fb ad she is 7 years younger ad within 2 months they eloped. I just figured if they were at least happy who cares how I feel. Now I find this out! And this isn't even the bad news... I've been eating like crazy ever since! I'm literally depressed and saddened, can't barely speak because its such a horrible situation and I'm powerless. ( my eating like crazy is like 1200-1500 cal instead of 850 but I feel just terrible about it! ) How do I stop? I think tomorrow morning I will go running instead of eating to blow off steam. I don't dare tell my husband because he will kill the dude! So there I sit stuffing my face! Mow I'm double sad! Help?!

My understanding is that the sleeve cuts away a piece of your stomach where the plication folds it over and stitches it. That part they fold over triggers hunger signal so I think that plication is an added tool. I personally only have the band and am doing great.

I forgot to tell you what I did at the gym this morning. One of the exercises was to take this big band and do lunges with them. You basically stand on the band with your front foot and then stretch it out over your head with your arms stretch out out really wide and then drop your back knee. Well this girl had the band slip out of one of her hands and smack her square in the side of the head....omg did it ever hurt. I had a welt down my left ear and neck and my left arm. Now it's bruised. Good thing I was using the red band that has lower resistance and not the black band. I would have knocked myself out had it been the black band.

I don't so much care about the bubbles, I wanna know if you are still getting eaten alive by the Mosquitos!
