  1. Thanks Kerry - I spoke to my doctor and increased my calories to 1000 and lost 8 lbs in two weeks.I can't wait to go to gym tomorrow and start losing more and hopefully get some energy. That is my biggest complaint Im so tired.Had blood work done and vit D level is down probably why I'm so tired. Thanks for you words of encouragement..
  2. I had surgery on 9-6-2012 and as of this week I have not had any soreness.
  3. I get recipes from skinnytaste.com
  4. Thanks everyone. If it does not get better I will call the doctor.
  5. I had my first fill yesterday and now have 2 cc in my band.I can feel restriction when I'm drinking fluids today it gurgles going down.My doctor's instruction was liquids yesterday, soft foods today, and normal diet tomorrow. I don't think I can eat soft foods today I'm afraid of having a stuck episode. Did anyone else have these problems?I don't know if this is normal or if I should call his office?
  6. Good luck and we are all here to support you!!!!
  7. Oh honey I promise there is a light at the end of the tunnel.I went through this last month.By the fourth day it was easier for me it was so hard the first three. It's so important to do this it shrinks your liver and makes it easier for the surgeon to do his job.I heard a horror story of a person not following drs orders on liquid diet and the doctor had to cut patient open instead pf doing the surgery laproscoptic
  8. I have blue cross of pa and here were my requirements keep in mind every insurance differs. My surgeon verified my attempts at weight loss.My Pcp never had to notify ins co.I had to have blood work, chest xray, upper GI swallow, meet with a nutritionist, and a Psych evaluation.I started process in April of 2012 and was approved in a day I had my surgery September 6.My surgeon required a two week pre op diet of liquids. My surgery was laprascoptic (I'm probably spelling that wrong lol)I had a lot of gas pain after some people don't. If you have anymore questions I will be happy to help I hope my answers help you.
  9. I'm 42 and I want to kick myself for not doing this 10 years ago..Good for you!!You sound like a very intelligent young lady.Best of luck.
  10. Im right there with you.I told everyone because I was so proud of myself.I work at a hospital and everyone thinks they know about the pros and cons of my procedure. I really don't care who knows but wish they would keep some of their negative comments to themselves. I told a co worker off the other day to make a long story short I told her "I dont have to answer to anyone but my self if my surgery doesn't work not anyone else.""if you don't have anything positive to say keep your mouth shut.I'm sure she will not say anything more to me.However it probably got around work because they stopped looking at me as if I was a scientific project.
  11. Mine is scheduled week 6.And I can't wait because I feel I need one.
  12. Thank you everyone for your advice. Sometimes I get a little crazy. While deciding on this surgery I gave myself 2 years to lose 100 lbs. Which I feel is a decent amount of time.I put my demon scale away and I will only weigh myself once a week.I know it takes time that's why I chose the band over other wls.Good luck to everyone and again thank you for being honest and real :-)
  13. I walked to move gas, used heating pad and iced my stomach. I used gas x when gall bladder was removed and it did nothing for me.They gave me liquid vicodin for pain and I took it every four hours and slept a lot lol.Fyi if you get that pain med it tastes disgusting but it helped.
  14. Hi I was banded on 9-6.Shop for all your post op food before hand.I was same day surgery and had a lot of gas pain when I came home so walk walk walk as much as you can to move gas.Heating pad helped and I also iced my stomach and that relieved pain and swelling.Sip water and try to get all your fluids in it's hard at times because you feel full but sip sip sip.The most important tip for me to bring to the hospital is chapstick ahem I was in recovery my lips were so dry.Good luck to all of you.
