  1. Back from jury duty. Made it through to the jury panel stage and then was not picked. It was for a speeding ticket. I wouldn't have cared who said what, I would have said not guilty as I don't believe in traffick tickets. There's much better use for cops. My DH gets pulled over and ticketed for almost everything and anything. I'm a speed demon and roll through stop signs all the time and rarely get pulled over. When I do get pulled over, I just get a warning. I haven't gotten a ticket in 17 years. That just goes to prove that cops issuing tickets are capricious so I have no respect for traffick cops.
  2. WooHoo! Way to go Orea! You deserve a major pat on the back!
  3. So, do you think if I answer the same way as you did, especially if it's a murder case, they'll let me go home? :smile2:
  4. I'd hate to keep you waiting in suspense so I'll just throw the other shoe at you. :smile2:
  5. mrboswell, we got through it because we had to; you will, too. Once you start getting fills you will feel some restriction and the hunger will abate. It may take up to 3 fills for that to happen depending on how senstive you are to fills and how aggressive your doctor is with the fills. I was very sensitive to fills so with the exception of the first fill which was 3 ccs all other fills were only .5 cc. My doctor will do fills as often as you want them and doesn't make you wait. I waited 2 weeks each time between fills for the first 3 fills and then 3 weeks for the 4th fill and this last fill I waited 5 weeks. I was self-pay and paid for 1 year of free follow ups with unlimited fills/unfills.
  6. I've been summoned! I hate jury duty! You show up, you get shuffled around like cattle, then you get penned in to a "waiting room" where you wait for hours just to be sent home. At least that's how it went last time -- You'd think in a county as big as Harris County, they'd only need to pick on you once. I had to go 2 years ago and you get a 2 year moratorium before you go back into the lottery -- I guess I'm just lucky so long as there isn't any money to be won! Argh!
  7. News flash - all women are sex toys to men!
  8. That's what plastic surgeons are for. Don't get worked up about something that hasn't happened, keep positive and know that if worst comes to worst, there's alwayd good old silicone!
  9. Fanny, there are no words we can say here to make you feel better BUT, it sounds like he said all the right things and answered you truthfully. He's with you because he thinks you are wonderful and he loves being with you. He's admitting he's attracted to you the way you are and admiring you for working on getting even sexier than you are now. Don't compare yourself to his exes unless you think being an ex is something to strive for...Obviously, their slim bodies were not enough to keep the relationship going. I've found that the way I feel about someone affects how attractive I think that person is. Initial attraction often is a result of pure physical chemistry but over time as you get to know someone your perception of the other person's appearance changes based on how you feel about them. He found you attractive enough initially to get with you and now he's discovered your inner beauty as well, he's hooked. You've got to get over being self conscious about your body around him because if you don't it will affect your intimacy. You were attractive to him when you first met and you are even more attractive to him now. If you let your insecurity get in the way, it will get between you two so beat that ugly monster away! That's an order!
  10. I got my 5th fill today to take me up to 5 ccs in an 8 cc band. It's too early to tell whether this is the sweet spot since you really won't know until you eat a couple of meals and the restriction can vary from day to day. Even before today's fill I definitely didn't have the same hunger I had before the band. Now the hunger monster is tamed, I need to figure out how to shut up that sweet tooth and that salty tooth and that bored tooth... the list goes on and on... Anyway, I think the band is doing its job, I just have to keep up with my end of the bargain.
  11. Kimaly, I hope your biopsy results are fine. Keep thinking positive.
  12. Thanks MiniMe for this thread. I am a fellow Sprivak bandster and also a slow loser. When I get discouraged at the scales sitting and doing nothing and feel down, I remind myself that at least it's not going up and giving up is not an option because the band is there and it will not allow me to overeat. Now, eating around the band is another issue... I love sweets and can't have just one so I have to keep away from it altogether. Halloween was rough with all the chocolate and candy in the house and I indugled in a handful and sometimes 2 handfuls on a daily basis for 2 weeks+. Amazingly I didn't gain any weight doing that, but of course I didn't lose any weight either. Makes me think that if I hadn't indulged like that, I would have broken 190. I've been fluctuating back and forth between 190 and 192 for the past 3 weeks and it's so frustrating!
  13. I'm back from my 5th fill which takes me up to 5 ccs in an 8 cc band. I can definitely feel more restriction (I can even feel it when I drink water). The test will be when I eat dinner tonight.
  14. So close... I remember how excited I was thinking about how wonderful it was going to be to meet my babies.
  15. Back from my 5th fill. They added another .5 cc to take me up to a total of 5 ccs. I can definitely feel the extra .5 ccs. Now I'm hungry but I don't know if I can eat -- I'm going to stick to liquids for the rest of the day and ease back into solids. I'm hopeful this fill will help me break 190 by the end of the week.
  16. I'm heading out for my 5th fill to try to find it. I'm beginning to think it's an imaginary feeling that only delusional people get. It's been explained that the sweet spot is achieving satisfaction after consuming approx. 6 oz of solid food and remaining satisifed for 4-5 hours.
  17. I'm a slow loser too and know that for me I have to exercise to lose weight because I'm not into food diaries and don't want to be on a diet for the rest of my life. I got the band for help with portion control and it is helping me there but to get better results I know it has to be exercise. You don't have to go to a gym to exercise. There are cheap exercise dvds, there are stairs you can go up and down and and walking is free and can be done anywhere, even inside your house. You can also jog in place, jump rope, etc. There are a number of things you can do on your own and in your own home. Now, I just need to follow my own advice...

So good to see you back and posting again BBK.
  19. Have either of you tried the 5 day pouch test? It seems to help many that are having problems to help calm the esophagus and the stomach and gradually gets you back to solids. Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test I haven't had any issues but tried the 5 day pouch test just for the "renew" feeling. I found the 5 day diet eas to follow and consider it more of a detox diet.
  20. Under the right circumstances, I've found that most men will do just about anything...
  21. Orea, it's so good to see you back and posting and even better to hear that the hunger monster is finally being tamed. It is amazing all the food others eat isn't it? When I eat around others, I'm always amazed at the amount and then amazed that I used to eat that much and maybe more prior to banding.
  22. I've had 3 MILs and I have either been extremely lucky and had great MILs or I'm so special they couldn't help but love me. Of course, I've got the mother from hell so maybe that's karma--sorry life dealt you such a difficult mom so you're consolation prize is great MILs.
  23. I've not been logging what I eat because I HATE doing it. For me, keeping an eating journal only causes me to obsess about food all the more. I haven't been losing so maybe I just need to force myself to log the food. I still think exercise is going to be the key for me and I just need to kick myself back into it again.
  24. So, you're going for inherent craziness that would have manifested regardless of fame and fortune? I hate to admit I might be wrong so I'll compromise and say OK, severe bipolar disorder that was TRIGGERED by living in a fishbowl of fame and fortune.
