8 Days Preop! Packing List?
Since they are saying three days, I would take my laptop if I were you. You might feel like using it the second evening or so. You might not even turn it on, but if you are like me just as soon as you don't bring it you will want it.

8 Days Preop! Packing List?
i am still pre op, but when I had my band seven years ago I remember people said CHAPSTICK and your lips do get dry in the hospital. If you have very far drive a small pillow to hold on your belly helps. If you have a favorite bed pillow take that and put a different color case on it so it doesn't get mixed with other linen charger to your phone I am sure others who have been through this more recently have more suggestions.

Im At My Pre Op Apt....
hope you have a great day, lots of tests and questions and stuff I am sure, don't remember from when I had the band. But it is still one more day closer and feels like you are doing something besides just waiting. Tell us all about it later.

New
I had the lap band placed seven years ago. Losing thirty pounds (and gaining them and some friends back) never did anything for my uncontrolled diabetes. I am seeking approval for a revision from band to rny. Purely for the hope of the diabetes being undercontrol. there are studies and proof that for many the surgery itself changes the diabetes. That is my hope. i am on over 300 units of insulin a day and the insulin causes me swelling and body aches and pains that have caused me to be on medical disability. I wish I had went with the rny to begin with. I just hope and pray insurance will approve this surgery so I can start to live again. I wish you the best and hope you make the right decision for you With your diabetes I hope you go the RNY.

The Easy Way.......
EASY craziest thing ever said. THis is not easy. Losing weight is not easy no matter how someone goes about it. I don't know why anyone would think that. Surround yourself with positive encouraging people. tell who you want what you want and know you are doing this for you and it will be a very hard and very rewarding experience, I sure don't think of wls as easy, I think it takes bravery.

Switching from band to RNY Gastric Bypass (Pre-Op)
Nursetab did you have to prove your band was "defective" prior to getting approved for the revision to rny? I have been banded for seven years and it has not helped me much at all. It hasn't hurt me, caused me any pain or anything. Just never have lost more than 25 to 30 pounds and always put them back on and they would bring a few friends. I like you thought the rny to invasive, I so wish I had done it the first time. I understand about not changing the habits. I also fell into the trap that soft and carby things went down well with the band. Now I am waiting for insurance approval for the revision, but since I don't have a slip or anything I am so afraid they will not approve it.

Less Than Supportive
What don said. Also I just don't talk to a lot of people about this. Not secretive, just don't really need to hear a lot of different opinions from people that don't have a clue. Surround yourself with those who support you and come here for knowledge and encouragement and just let the others roll off your back. This is about you.

Help With The Hair-Do
do you think it would help to do some of these things pre op like the biotin and the special shampoos. I am already pretty thin. Was thinking I could start some of this prior if anyone thinks it could help.

Revision From Band To Rny And Why.
Seems the insurance company wants more medical reasons for the revision. My silly husband just said, drink a carbonated beverage and cause it kick up a fuss. But he has no idea how much pain would be involved. This road may be even longer to hoe then i expected. Not giving up.
