    Congrats on your dedication to working out! Zumba is fun cardio and an excellent way to meet healthy people.
    Assuming that your calorie intake is appropriate to achieve your goals then I can def tell you what's going on. Your body is adjusting "adapting to imposed demands" a rule of human physiology. Therefore, it's important to vary your workouts to keep your body "adapting"... in this case losing weight, becoming more lean. I would keep Zumba but trade out some days doing some other exercises. A combination of cardio and resistance training WILL give you the results you seek and DESERVE!! You are putting in the "work" so you should get the results - it's a matter of tweaking your routine, in essence working smarter not harder.

    In Florida, if you want to exercise outside you have to be flexible (and I'm not referring to limber limbs!) I have been riding my bike a lot lately. A couple of friends and I are training to ride the Pinellas Trail in January - all 37 miles of it! We have started at 5 mile a day and will increase one mile each week. That will put us to the date we wanted to shoot for - mid-January - riding 34 miles. We have found the 7 pm hour is usually pretty nice for riding in May. By July we'll have to switch to early mornings when it isn't so hot. We have a gym in our community, albeit a very small on, and we have started going on off-cycle days. Need to train the upper body as well.

    I'm in sales so I set my own schedule. I keep a fully stocked gym bag in my car every day so I can hit the gym after sales calls are done but before I go home to finish paperwork. If I don't go while I'm out, I know that it's highly unlikely that I will go back.
    Old sales saying is "failing to plan is planning to fail" so if I always have my gym stuff with me, I am planning for success.

    Krzy (crazy) like a person that is hanging their life for the better ! I Love this example of exercise as a Priority! Just as people that have successfully saved $$ for their future - they almost always say that the "pay themselves" first, meaning that $ amount goes right into the 401k fund before anything else happens or can happen. You are "paying yourself" first when you exercise in the morning BERORE anything can "steal" it away. Exercise is the closest thing to a magic pill that exists : )

    You on the "secret" ... People always say to me it must take extraordinary things to achieve such a weight loss but I tell them , No... It's actually not about the extraordinary, it's about doing the ORDINARY daily : ) by setting a very do-able goal and adding small incremental increases you are setting yourself up for Victory Frederic, Congrats! And thanks for sharing your success.

    Hey Jrock,
    Congrats on your decision to embrace exercise!! I wast 450+ pounds and on oxygen and started my walking program with 30 seconds and now I compete in Triathlons. The key is start today... And increase a little each day. Also I used to live in Vegas and understand the heat you are dealing with there.
    I suggest:
    1- Immediately get a Leslie Sansone walking DVD / pop it in and follow - keep track of the time ( how long you do it) start with what you can do without it being an huge huge effort - write down the time it took - maybe 3 min maybe 5, it doesn't matter just document it. Then do it EVERY day adding 30 seconds each time.
    2- Two additional days a week go to the mall or a target or Walmart and walk briskly and with purpose - distance and time of walk depends on your specific rate needs etc...
    3- The DVD walk should be done as soon as you get out of bed - Pre coffee Pre shower - right away.

    Yes I have the Lapband without which I would not have had the "success" I am enjoying. I explained this to the author but they wanted to focus on the "work" involved, around nutrition, Exercise and sleep ALSO without which I would not have had the "success". It's really not an either/or (WLS or exercise/food plan) it's a BOTH. I view my Lapband like the glasses I need to read - without my glasses I can't read because my vision is blurry (where others don't need glasses) BUT once I put the glasses on I still have to READ (do the work) the book and comprehend it.

    I try to run every morning. I realized just like changing my eating habits I needed to focus on making exercise a habit not just an activity.
    I started by just walking 5 minutes then added a minute after 5 days. I then went to 7 minutes after 6 days. Currently I run 23 minutes. Every once in awhile I think I should just increase my exercise time to 30 or 40 minutes but than I remeind myself when I've tried that in the past it gets easier and easier for something to interrupt my routine. With this method I'm slowly adjusting my schedule and my internal clock it actually gets easier and easier to make those small adjustments to my workout time.

    Hi Lavada,
    I am sure that's frustrating! The general healthy weight loss is 1-3 lbs a week - that's a general rule. The 3 things to exam when "stuck" are the following:
    1- food plan (how many calories are you taking in each day - at what time of day and what are they made of, meaning % of protein/carb/fat
    2- How much sleep are you getting each night
    3- What are you doing for exercise and how many days a weeks and at what time are you doing it.
    Accumulate this info and you may see your answer right away (like, I don't really know the exact number of calories I am eating or Exercise? Well I don't really have a plan or measure my exercise etc...)
    If when you look at the info on these three items and you don't see a clear answer then feel free to PM me with the info and I will examine it and provide feedback - if you would like me to.

    Calories in calories out still apply. Maybe you are drinking items that are to high in calories. Do as much walking as your body will allow and increase it a little every day, hugs to you.
