  1. What are the health consequences for not getting enough protein after your surgery?
  2. Hi! I cant wait to have a salad or some fresh veggies, was wondering when others started there's and how it went..Im 5 weeks post op, so I still have a few weeks yet but am nervous and wondering (who would of thought i would be drooling over a salad???~~lol!)
  3. I have been having pain in both of my sides,it runs the length of my ribs to my abdomen, and its not an extreme pain , more like a soreness, and uncomftorableness. It does hurt though too. There is some pain in my lower back as well... I am not sure what it is, i dont have any other symptoms, i am almost 5 weeks out... I thought maybe gas, but it doesnt feel the same as typical gas and I have used the bathroom just fine today. Any ideas anyone? Should I be concerend?
  4. Does anyone know when these are allowed and /or tolerated? I have read a few posts by a one person on here who does sunflower seeds alot but I cant rememeber how far out she was. I am wondering if it would interfere with the staples at all? Things like almonds, peanuts,or even popcorn, they have low salt choices, and some nuts can be good sources of protein no? Just wondering if anyone knows?
  5. Instead of getting my protein in by protein drinks, can i do those protein bars?? some have as much protein as 20g, as much as my drinks which i can barely get down! Anyone know, 4 weeks post op.

    Migrains

I have had migraines for 20plus years, I am on daily meds to avoid and I have Imitrex for when i do get one, I am able to swallow half of one, because crushing them was a nightmare, both need prescriptions but it was worth getting them, you shouldn't continue to suffer with them. There are a lot of different meds you can take to help. I am at 21 days post op and swallowing it has not caused any problems.Good luck to you.
  9. Why is bread such a no-no? I get the calories and carbs, but is there a digesting issue?
  10. Isnt there protein pills or shots I can give myself, I can not stand these drinks!!!!!!!!! I can only get 2 in a day and feeling like i need to throw up and I need more protein, Im only getting 40-50 a day , im 17 days post-op. I just want to scream!!!!!!!

    Unjury Powder?

What are EAS? and where do you get them? I do like the slimfast Choc low carb but they are $9 for 4 and I need 3 a day to meet my protein plus an aftertaste..need some variety too...I orderd the sample pack of the Unjury, and will try that.
  12. So I have decided to order some Unjury from the website,it seems to be the most favorite around the forums,I am having a really hard time getting in my protein,so any suggestions on what flavor(s). I am afraid to buy something that I will hate ,like a huge canister I already have sitting on my counter.I am 3 weeks post op.Please advice awesome friends.
  13. I am so glad it helped, Best wishes to you all, and to all of us!! Take care of YOU!
  14. I just passed my 2 week mark , have had my first post op visit with my doctor and nutr. last Friday and thought I would share just a few things I have learned the hard way that I can look back at now with some humor and relief. If any of it helps someone get through a few days great~~ 1.Don't trust a toot to be just a toot the first few or so days....that was something that lasted a week or so for me and I actually was so happy to be finally passing gas that I just passed gas..or so I thought that first second... So I got up and down a lot to the toilet just in case but after that first oops, I wasn't taking any chances. 2. Don't push yourself. Everyone tells you,EVERYONE!~~~ LISTEN,when it comes to moving and drinking, your body knows best.So easy to over do it. 3. Do not drink drinks with red dye in them~~~I mean holy moly I freaked out! I thought I was bleeding out,and was going to die,it was the red crystal light fruit punch working its way out,,,thankfully the awesome folks of this forum had my back, while I called my doctor. 4.Remember how difficult this whole thing is and it is emotional and its ok to feel those ups and downs, I thought there was something wrong with me because I was so upset and sad. But it goes away and you WILL feel better! 5.And finally visit here often,it makes you feel better to know others are feeling the same, so many of you all have had my back through my posts or just by me reading yours. This place has been a Godsend. And while this is still a big,big battle for me, I'm working it and I'm going to keep visiting here and I'm going to be patient with myself and keep a sense of humor.....
  15. Thanks Izuri, They still haven't called back I paged 2x its been an hour, dont know if i should wait till tomorrow , I have an appointment anyways but Im just so upset...All of this support is so amazing, thank you so much.
