  1. I think everyone ends up with one challenge or another. Mine went well, tolerated little pain and gas. But I had such nausea! Mine all went to hell when I got home and tried to juggle fluids and protein into a stomach that didn't want it. I was overwhelmed to say the least. Physically I did fine but my brain took a beating, lol. Congratulations!
  2. The thing that drives me the nuttiest? It's how long my pant legs have become! I can totally walk on the bottoms of some of my jeans! The skinny jeans are a little bit better but I still have this pool of material at my ankles. I look like I'm wearing my dads 6 ft plus pants!
  3. By "fats" I don't mean bacon. I mean salad dressing, cheese, cottage cheese, beef, half and half, olive oil, butter, almonds. Of course with the sleeve I can't eat much and proteins are first. I do on occasion have carbs from some pasta, or a small potato (kind of makes me feel yucky) and I will eat a little bread from Subway from time to time. It is working for me.
  4. I follow Atkins. sugar free, low carb, regular, full fat food and drinks, high Protein. I learned from Atkins that often when a food is made low/no fat, they replace the fat with sugar to make it taste good. Compare labels and see. Sugar is my trigger, I must avoid. I've never heard of the diet you describe so I am about to google, lol.
  5. I asked about using a straw for the same problem. You may want to call your surgeons office and see what the nutritionist says. Mine said as long as I wasn't getting gassy from it, it was fine to use a straw. MUCH easier to get in your fluids!!! Congratulations on having your surgery. Very soon you will have a pile of "donation" clothes.
  6. Yesterday I went shopping at Kohl's. I was just looking at clothes and buying a gift. Of course I head right for the clearance rack. I'm out of habit, pulling out 2 x size. I can't believe how big they were! I've always hidden myself in loose clothing until over the last few months I've been trying to wear more form fitting clothes. So I go to the regular size racks just for fun. I'm looking at the xl and thinking "I think this might fit!" When I left the house I grabbed a sweater that was a 2 x because it was very cold. I got in the store and got overheated. I took off my coat and eventually I came upon a full length mirror (I don't own a full length mirror). I looked ridiculous! My skinny jeans were baggy, the sweater was just awful not to mention my underwear were baggy, lol. I looked so frumpy. Time to go through the pile of "I can wear this in 10 lbs sizes." I just can't believe how different I look and feel in just 8 months. Wow!
  7. I'm not intentionally trying to starve myself. It's my reaction to stress. I get so sick to my stomach I could puke. You would think I would stall but I don't. It's really a strange reaction.
  8. I, too am well versed with Atkins. It in combination with the sleeve is awesome! I don't drink much milk, because of the high milk sugars. I use it for an occasional carnation instant breakfast sf. I love almond milk! The almond/coconut milk is delicious too. I saw at Walmart they now have cashew milk...I'll pass lol. Congratulations on such a huge weight loss!
  9. You clearly do not have the capacity to deal with a depressed person. That was cold and out of line and inappropriate. If you have nothing useful to say to this women then I think you should excuse yourself from this page.
  10. I'm impressed by those of you who track your daily intact. I don't. I do not eat or drink sugar. I eat until I get the sign to stop, which isn't much. I have an obsessive personality and I don't want to obsess about food...period! I eat fat. Not deep fried fat but I do eat/drink milk, full fat cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, cream cheese, butter, olive oil etc. not everyday mind you. My weight loss is great, I'm very happy with what I have lost. Kudos to those of you who can track, it would make me crazy, lol!
  11. I'm an at home baker. I've sold Cookies for awhile. Pre-op I ate half of what I baked to sell (which was a lot). Sometimes I'd eat an order and have to remake it. Since surgery I've pretty much lost my interest in baking. I stopped selling. Now that I'm 8 mths post op I've started baking again and I give my treats to neighbors, etc. it doesn't bother me a bit. It's rather cathartic actually. I finally realized I just love to bake! I don't need or want to eat it, I just enjoy baking.
  12. I've been divorced since 2008. I saw someone for about six weeks three years ago. I really have no interest in dating or booty calls. I figure if you didn't like me at 312 than I don't need your shallow self.
  13. You need to see a neurologist!!!
  14. I haven't looked up the definition of body dismorphia but it sounds like plain old OCD to me. Obsessive, compulsive. That WAS my relationship with food. Edited: okay I should have looked it up first, lol. Disregard. Idk how to delete a post.
  15. Make sure you get the latest addition of the book/diet where they include more healthy carbs than what the good Dr. initially wrote about. I didn't have this surgery so I can still eat candy, drink coke, eat cake and ice cream. I have always believed in this approach. The difference now is, I have the tool to make it successful!
  16. I hope your stress and migraines end soon.
  17. The hospital didn't keep you??? Honey, if you're taking a handful of pills and admitting your depressed, you have a serious problem!!! That is suicidal behavior. I can't believe they did not keep you. I've been in your shoes several times. You need to see someone like YESTERDAY. Do not hesitate to start seeking therapists. If you are self medicating or purposely over dosing then get in to ER. I've been on the psych floor. It's actually very helpful. It isn't men in white coats. It's everyday people that just can't cope. You have to do group therapy all thru the day. It really helps and you lean on and also support those around you. Your husband sounds like an a$&, sorry to say. PLEASE GET HELP ASAP!
  18. Your body is just catching up with itself. Don't let the scales mess with your head.
  19. It sounds as though she will be hostile either way. That's really too bad. Listen to your gut. Good Luck and I hope she can deal with being told beforehand or being surprised after. I'm not so sure I'd want to surprise her but then you don't need a Debbie Downer thru the process either. You need supportive people around you. It's not an easy road.
  20. They pumped you full of a lot of fluids. I gained 9 lbs the day after surgery. Please don't be so hard on yourself!!!
  21. I followed the Atkins diet for many years. When I was at the meeting about surgery I asked if the Atkins "approach" was a good way of eating after having the sleeve. Yes was the drs answer. Sugar is my enemy. Plain and simple. My choice after surgery was to go sugar free but not go low fat. I don't believe in low fat because usually when they remove the fat they add sugar. Don't want it. I don't eat bacon but I will use half and half in my coffee, 2% milk, butter, olive oil and red meat to name a few. I don't use much sweetener. I adapted the Atkins to include fruit and sometimes juice. I snack on almonds. Just thought I'd share my probably unorthodox way of living.
  22. Enough already! Can we just let this thread die??? Ugh so sorry I started it in the first place! I had no idea how offensive it turned out to be. Let's just all agree we are grateful for this wonderful tool and this great forum meant to SUPPORT EACH OTHER!
  23. Ahhh there IS another sugar free, not afraid of a little fat person out there!
  24. I refuse to give up my 14 year old 2x faded brown hooded carrhart coat with a hood. I'm pretty much in a xl but I'm a country girl (pink camo is MY style lol) and from Michigan. I care next to nothing about being fashionable...I want to be WARM! Underneath my huge coat I can get on a tee, a sweatshirt, a hoodie and I still freeze. I do have a dress coat but it has no hood. Useless
  25. Thank you for serving our country. I'm glad you made it home. Semper Fi.
