  1. I can't tolerate anything. I shut right down. I'll sip on A shake through the day to calm my upset stomach. It's better now, I ate well yesterday. Thank you for your advice.
  2. Pictures, pictures, pictures. I love them. My phone and FB is full of them. It is a visual journey, at times some pictures are hard to look at but I'm proud of how far I have came. Maybe it's vain but I will make an album of my journey. Be proud of who you are. You were brave enough to have the surgery...celebrate those little wins. Obviously your husband is proud of you. I'll bet he thinks he has one sexy wife!!! A dress and heels? I'm impressed. I'm more of a pink camo girl myself, lol.
  3. Friends, real friends support you, lift you up, pray for you. I'm so sorry that you had to get that smack down. She should have kept that to herself. Surround yourself with positive, supportive people. It will make the journey easier and fulfilling. It will be fine.
  4. It honestly gets better. Hang in there. I still have my days where even drinking causes upset stomach and I'm 8 months out. It's a HUGE adjustment.
  5. I've read so many posts about sleevers not wishing to tell anyone about their surgery and being offended when they ask. I've been extremely open. Through testing everyone knew every step I was taking. I'm not ashamed. In fact I've inspired many. My facebook is filled with friends and family who ALL support me. They cheer at my success and beg for more pictures. It's been a very positive decision. I've never had anyone say anything even remotely unkind. I got 14 inches of hair cut off and I told the hairstylist about my surgery. She completely stopped what she was doing and asked me to tell her about it as she was considering the band or the bypass. She had never heard of the sleeve. I believe my openness has helped open some doors for several people. Even my 13 yr old nephew was questioning the dynamics of the surgery and how I eat now. Everyone makes a personal decision to tell/not tell. I just wanted to share how my decision has effected my journey.
  6. It truly is normal. It will also pass. It took me three months to get it together. One month of such nausea I could barely eat. Try to stay hydrated. I know it's hard.
  7. I have SO much support and picture takers it's finally sunken in. I'm seeing what they're seeing. I have many many photos to compare side by side. It's hard to deny the change.
  8. Going through another stressful time where I don't want to eat. I've lost 5 lbs in 4 days. It's a temporary loss, I know that. I think my meals yesterday consisted of half a beef stick and not quite all of a protein shake and coffee. This is such a weird reaction.
  9. Does your surgeon or hospital have support groups? Ask yourself before you eat "am I really hungry or is it head hunger?" Then drink something if it's head hunger. It's a beast to conquer but you CAN do it!
  10. The shrimp and Salmon were not prepared with fat. I follow more of the Atkins approach, I don't use low fat but am totally sugar free. I barely had any of the coating but I suppose it could have been. After some sleep, I'm starting to feel better. Oddly, I can eat Subway tuna with no problems at all and it's made with mayo.
  11. I tried 3 shrimp, made me nauseous. Last week had half a piece of Salmon, I was sick for days. Still hadn't bought a clue. So I had half a piece of cod on Friday (fish n chips?). I'm still miserable. Bloated, the runs, nauseous, headache, hot flashes. Ugh. Buh bye seafood. 8 mths post-op.
  12. And my nephew and nieces bought me a cake. I had a tiny bite and pawned it off on my dad. I didn't want to hurt the little ones feelings. They were too involved in eating it to notice. I explained the surgery to my 13 yr old nephew and he understood. He said he was so proud of me :***)
  13. I'm in Michigan. It's a little Indian casino in Standish. About 80 miles north of Flint.
  14. Thank you! I'm not celebrating with CAKE, lol. My parents took me to the casino last night.
  15. Today is my birthday. I didn't feel this great at 30!!! Cut off 14 inches off hair and covered the grey.
  16. Good to know it's not just me!
  17. I'm almost 7 mths post op. I've been having dreams about sweets. They are so vivid when I'm awake I have to calm myself down because I think I really have eaten what I'm dreaming about. Is this weird?
  18. I'm very blessed. Everyone in my life are my cheerleaders. It's helped my attitude immensely. I got on the scale this morning and did the fist pump at the numbers, go ME. Thanks for the pep talk!!!
  19. I may sip on a coke zero once a month. Or I buy a large diet coke at McDonalds and let the ice melt and makes the pop flat. I'm from Michigan and we proudly make Vernor's Ginger Ale. That is the one pop that never goes flat. I can sip on it for three days and it's still fizzy. My McDonalds trick works well enough for me.
  20. I've lost 90 lbs in 7 months. The first pic is a month post-op and the 2nd a couple days ago.
  21. I suffer with mental illness and take lots of meds. I was scared I wouldn't make it thru the psych eval. It was fine. They ask normal questions. They're looking at how much you understand what will be happening to you. I did have to take some additional therapist appts because they wanted her input if I was in fact "stable."
  22. I was more afraid of the bypass, having everything re routed. The sleeve didn't bother me. In fact I looked forward to having 85% less stomach. I could eat such large amounts it was pathetic. I think we all, to some degree are scared at what we did to ourselves to be in this situation. I'm not concerned with "down the road" a few years. We've been left with a stomach...nothing re-routed just smaller. I hope you decide to go through with it. Hugs
  23. I thankfully have never experienced that! If I eat a bite too many it just plain comes back up.
  24. My stomach doesn't growl hungry it just gets the nauseous, I better feed it and soon feeling.
