  1. If you pick a good shake that's has lots of vitamins and minerals I think it shouldnt be a problem. But again I'm not a Dr. I had to do a two week 4-5 shakes a day plus clear liquids. I started that around 316 and the morning of surgery (12/10) I was 300.1. So almost 16lbs in 14 days. The shakes they put me on were Bariatric advantage and I had to purchase the through my center. They were ok. They got kinda thick upon blending and yiu could doctor them up with fruits and sf syrups. But Dr said it definitely did my liver some good Good luck to you and always check with surgeon first.
  2. I had bad nausea and threw up a few times 2 days post op. I'm now 4days post op and have terrible gas. But the nausea stopped. Never had any pain. I only have two incisions so I'm sure that helped but I was out of bed the next morning. I didn't get in my room until 630pm. And had nausea so I stayed put.
  3. I was the 10th and doing ok. I was in the hospital until last night. My first leak test in Tuesday didn't go well as my sleeve was very swollen. Did a repeat yesterday and it went much better. First couple of days were rough with regret, nausea, some vomiting. But I got though it and am now home. On the plus side I don't have much pain. Haven't had pain meds since Tuesday night.
  4. Does the place you will have surgery through have a therapist that specializes in Bariatric? My place has one and it has really helped. You can do one on ones with him or twice a month he has behavioral classes. And he also runs a sleeve specific support group.
  5. Welcome to the group. I started snooping around here back in June and finally just got sleeved on the 10th B-)
  6. I ate like normal except I cut out pop and sugar a few weeks before. But i did have one last big meal the night before preop diet started. Hubby took me to red lobster. Yum
  7. I'm not telling you what to do im but giving you a story on someone I knew. 10 years ago a girlfriend of mine decided to have rny. She was young, early twenties had no comorbidities. She was 30lbs shy of her insurance covering the surgery without those comorbidities. She was so. Distraught about her weight and new this was her only way out thay she carbed up and gained 35lbs. Her surgery was then covered under her plan. Now I know 35lbs is a lot different than 10lbs. But it's both being done for the same reasons. Good luck in your decision.
  8. That's crazy that you were awake during it. I had two prior to surgery and both times was given propofol to knock me out.
  9. Oh maybe it was... My hubs and I assumed it was for the liver.... Hmm ill have to ask next week.
  10. Surgery was on Monday at 130. I had single site incision. Surgeon said it could take about an hour and a half to two hours. It ended up going much better than he planned and he was done in an hour fifteen. I had a lot of swelling the next day in my tummy so much that I failed the leak test Tuesday morning. I had the repeat test today and there was a lot of improvement but fluid is still moving slowly. I did get released tonight and have been home for about an hour. Still pretty gassy and having some chest pain thay goes away upon belching. Yesterday I had buyers remorse because I felt like **** and wanted something to eat. But all in all I am doing really good. Moving around fine. Haven't really had any pain. I have one incision inside my belly button and then one that's not even an inch just below my sternum and to the right a little. That's where they held up my liver. Glad to be home and resting here. My two years old is made at me for leaving her for four days :-(. But shell come around soon enough. Hope all the newly sleeved are doing well!
  11. It's kinda like the upper gi you probably had preop except instead of the 10oz of barium you take a few sips of this clear contrast and they take pics of your esophagus and stomach to make sure everything is moving. I had so much swelling when mine was done Tuesday morning for (surgery was monday) that the contrast stayed in my esophagus . We waited 30 minutes and did pics again and it was still in my esophagus. So i am had to stay until today. But doing much better and the repeat upper gi went well
  12. It was strained cream of chicken. It's on the full liquids diet. Sorry left out strained.
  13. Hey there. I was sleeved on the 10th as well and was going through everything you described. I actually just got released tonight and got home 30 minutes ago. I had severe nausea and when I took my leak test Tuesday morning I failed as the contrast was not leaving my esophagus. Yesterday I got really upset with myself for having this surgery. I think part of it was because I didn't feel good and the other part was in didn't know what was going on with the swelling that I had. I feel 100% better today and I won't say that it might not ever regret doing this again but take it one day at a time. And deep down I know my days of battling this weight is over.
  14. So glad this was on the main page. I just got sleeved on Monday. Started clear liquids yesterday got discharged today on full liquids. I just made my self 4zoz of cream of chicken soup and half way through it got this terrible pain in my chest. I'm assuming something was telling me to stop so I did. I guess now it's all learning about our new bodies
  15. I say fug them and do it. It's not like you 15.
  16. Welcome to the group. As others will tell you it goes by quick. I started all this in June or July and got sleeved on Monday. All day Monday I kept saying I couldn't believe the day has finally come. Good luck to you and there is a lot of great information on this forum. Of course listen to your dr and use this as reference
  17. Many thoughts and prayers to you. Mine just being this past Monday I can relate very well. Good luck to you.
  18. I Have bcbs of il I'm sure they are similar. But mines was submitted on 10/25 and I was approved on 10/29. I was approved on bmi alone. Had no other comorbidities. Keep us posted,
