  1. I love my monthly meetings. They usually have a topic and we can ask any questions we want. We sometimes go around the room and tell what type of surgery we have had or are thinking of. Tell our weight loss. I have learned a real lot at these. My husband usually goes with me and has learned from the dietitian a lot about carbs (he is a diabetic). Bringing a note book is a great idea, too At one meeting one other bander, sort of took over the meeting (she was rude-I thought) but she explained the Fitbit and now I own one. Have fun tonight. I have mine next Thursday which is good because Boston is having another snow storm right now.
  2. I gulp my iced tea all the time and have never had a problem. Not even when I did drink and eat together, which I don't anymore. I have never felt my band tight either, so i don't know what that feels like. I like learning about everyone's views on drinking. thanks!
  3. I am an over drinker, iced tea or water. My doctor told me no drinks for 30 minutes before and after every meal. It was a hard habit to break but I am getting good at no drinks. My hardest time is Chinese restaurants because I love Chinese tea. Just ask your doctor and or dietitian. They all have different rules. If you go to the support groups offered, that is a great subject to bring up, also. I went to the groups for 9 months before I had the Band and loved them all and learned a lot. I still go to them.
  4. I had my gallbladder out a few months after my oldest son was born 38 years ago. I was told that when a shock happens to your body, the baby, other parts of the body change. Like the gallbladder would have had to be removed many years later but the baby made it happen sooner. Maybe the band had the same effect. I am not a medical professional but it sounds like the same thing. Good luck with everything.
  5. Sorry to hear about your insides. Follow the doctors orders. I am happy the band did help you lose 90 lbs. That is amazing.
  6. That was wonderful. Were you really thinking to yourself-that fish is killing you? Fat in the veins and fat on the hips. That is how I have been thinking lately. Awful but true. I love to read of great success in people's lives. This is one of them.
  7. I bought mine at the AT&T store and they sell them at Brookstone and Best Buy. So if you have trouble go to one of those stores. It may just need a new battery. They really don't come with any instructions. It was hook up to the computer and do your own thing. Good luck.
  8. Because of hospital changes where I went, I waited almost 10 months. During that time I went to all the monthly support meetings. I started drinking the protein shakes 5 months before the band, also. I still have them every morning for my breakfast. Another good thing to do is walk. Try it, it may help with your weight loss, also. Keep logging onto this site and learn and ask questions. We don't judge, but tell the truth and always try to help. Good luck!!!!!!
  9. When I put the Fitbit on the charger it lights up and shows if it is charged. There is a button on it also you can push. I love the Fitbit. I can see how I am doing with food, like the protein and water. I also keep track of my activities. Very good purchase for me.
  10. Never for me. I have had stuck food and I walk it off. It was caused from eating too fast.
  11. You'e doing nothing wrong. I stay within 3-5 pounds all the time and I over drink. I know when I have certain foods, there is more water retention. I also go by monthly measurements. Today was my measure day and forgot so i will do it tomorrow morning. Don't beat yourself up. The weight took more than one month to get on the body and it will take more than one month to say good bye. I think you're doing fine with your numbers.
  12. Welcome. It is never too late to start the rest of your life. I started mine at almost 62. Just remember when to stop and chew, chew, chew. Good luck with your new life and journey.
  13. Hello and welcome. You will be fine. We are all here to help you with your new journey. We are all here because we eat and we all needed help-thank you BAND. I am very happy that you are doing something about your weight in your 20's not 60's like me. Good luck and keep reading all the blogs, good, bad and ugly. You'll be fine.
  14. Ok, now I get it. I can understand being scared of the unknown. I almost changed my mind during pre-op because the doctor was about 4-5 hours behind because of the person before me. She had the sleeve-not the band. I was scared but I knew I was going to become a healthier person and I AM. I can walk more and have more fun with my grandsons. I know I can take them to a zoo and not worry about sitting every 5 minutes. All good. New clothes are fun. I only bought a few pieces but about 10 long sleeved 't' shirts. When Kohl's has their sales, watch out. They were under $8. each. As for CG-she is wonderful and has helped a lot with he thoughts of the day etc. She tells the truth and others do too. So make today your last day of over doing everything and wake up tomorrow with I Am the new me day. We are all here to try to help and answer all your questions.
  15. Maybe you need to have some counseling before you get the band. There is no drinking after the band. I don't drink so I am not missing that in my life. I love food. I know the band is the best thing that has happened to me and I just love knowing I have help finally with my life. Good luck with what you chose to do.
  16. Sorry to hear about the bike accident. I hope your arm is doing better today. WOW-about getting the date! That is super.
  17. I am afraid of the membrane. I eat Mandarin oranges from the jar almost every night. I love them. I was told you can't have the membrane or grape skin. Ask your dietitian for advice. Good luck.
  18. I order from the children's menu a lot without any problems. I live in the Boston area. One of my favorites is Not Your Average Joe's. They have a wonderful salmon with green beans and mashed potatoes. I couldn't finish the kid's size yesterday. Also, Smokey Bones had wonderful 1/4 chicken on the kid's. I love eating out. After 42 years of being married, time to stop cooking so much.
  19. It is real. Very expensive where I live. It is $25. Per pound container at BJs. I just had a few lumps. I buy one container month. You can buy it on line but don't know prices.
  20. I am having a nice salad about one hour before dinner and then having a 4oz burger with cheddar cheese and butternut squash. no bun for the burger. For my after dinner dessert I like Mandarin oranges. Everyone enjoy your wonderful menus.
  21. congratulations!!!!! you'll be fine and do fine. Best thing I ever did. Just sorry I never heard of the Band until my lung doctor told me about it.
  22. I have lost inches every month. I take my measurements once a month. My weight was about the same for 3 months but I saw the inches go down, so I was fine with that. After my last fill about 3 weeks ago I finally lost some pounds. You're doing fine. One of my dietitians said you have to eat to lose weight. Which means you need 1000-1200 calories a day. I get about 12-1300 in every day and lots of protein. Good luck.
  23. Every doctor and hospital have their own rules. It took me 10 months because the hospital merged with a big Boston one. My insurance approved me right away. I had all my pre testing and that takes about 3 months. I finally had the band in July and it was the best thing I ever did for me and my family. I can walk and play with the grandsons better than ever. Good luck.
  24. I love my protein shakes for breakfast. I have been having them for one year this month. My go to for protein is jumbo lump crab. Very easy to chew and I love it. I don't use anything on it, no mayo, lemon-nothing. I also enjoy broiled salmon. Enjoy the new you and remember, chew, chew chew.
  25. Congratulations on this wonderful journey you are taking. Husbands can be such wonderful support team leaders. I know mine is and it sounds like yours is too.
