  1. I haven't made the fries but I make butternut squash almost every night. I hate cooked veggies but love this. I buy the cubed butternut and put some olive oil and Splenda brown sugar in a pan and mix them together. I then put in the squash and put in the oven on 400-450 for about 20 minutes and take them out and mix around in the mixture and put back in the oven until well cooked and gooey. It is really good. I make about 6-8 pieces of squash for me , they shrink a lot when cooked this way. Enjoy!

A very sad but wonderful story/life. I am so happy you have a husband with a great family. It is very nice to have loving children and grandchildren. I have 3 grandsons and they are the best! Thank you for sharing so we know you.
  3. I have the 4 and it works great. I actually bought them together at the AT&T store I love the fitbit
  4. Many years ago my husband was the very thin one and we are still together for 42 years. He has been up and down on the scale too. Right now he sort of trying to get thinner with me. We go to the gym together and we both enjoy it. I married for better or worse and my worse was my weight. Get your husband involved in your journey and he will be great helping you. Good luck with re-enjoying your clothes. I call it, clothes shopping in my closet.
  5. Don't feel bad because I would have too. If you want to tell it is when you are ready.
  6. Go for a walk. Go to a large mall or store and walk for a while. When I had a few stuck moments, I walked until I felt better, usually 15 minutes. Good luck. The band does not let you go crazy when eating. It hurts and reminds us of small portions. Feel better.
  7. education is a great word to describe the Band.
  8. It is very hard cooking for others. I took my mentally challenged brother out for a steak birthday dinner and had tea. Now that was hard. I went for dinners many times and had drinks or brought my own Carnation instant drink with extra protein with me. I never explained to others other than saying I am on doctor's orders and have to watch my intake. Left it there. I didn't have a fill for 2 months and then it was a small one. I loved having SF Popsicles. I still have them a lot. I buy the Edy's brand. Good luck, you'll do great!!!!!!!
  9. My surgeons office did all the paper work for me. They never said anything was not covered. I have medicaid and had to change plans to have the band and it was one phone call and the next day everything was perfect. Good luck. Every state is also different with their own rules. I have Romney care in MA. He was good for insurance at least.
  10. Thank you. I would go to your classes but Boston is a long drive from FL. I don't expect to lose all my weight in one year because it got on this gorgeous body over many many years. I did know this when I chose the band.
  11. I had a burger for dinner with cheese but no roll. I was told when stuck, walk. I have had to do that a few times and now I try to make sure, I eat slower and smaller bites. Also, no liquids for 30 minutes before or after eating. Good luck. I do eat bread, though.
  12. The one I buy, Body Fortress is at Walgreens but more money around $21-$23. in the Boston area.
  13. I really want to be thinner and healthier. I didn't get fat in on year so i know I will not be thin in one year. I am getting there slowly. I now enjoy the gym. I have been sick all week, so no gym or exercise this week. I am still enjoying some of my old foods but much smaller portions and recooked for lower calories. I do not want to give up everything because in the past when I did I went back and then added more pounds.
  14. Call your doctor and the dietitian. They should be able to help you. I find eating a salad about an hour before my dinner helps me a lot and I eat it very slowly.
  15. I know at least 6 people who did the by pass and gained the weight back plus. I feel the Band you are more in control and it was not a major surgery. The sleeve is too much of the body removed. With both of those surgeries you lose weight much faster and being over 60 I wanted slower so my body could adjust better. Best thing I did for me, sorry I didn;t know about it years ago or this site before the surgery. Thank you Alex for this site, it helps me a lot.
  16. I use chewable vitamins. I have the Bariatric Advantage brand from the doctor's office or you can get them on line. Today I was told I need more vitamin D, the one I take doesn't have enough in them. Ask your dietitian what you need. She was the one who gave me the list. Good luck. Bring a magazine.
  17. .Sorry to hear about the port. Never heard of that. Good luck next week,
  18. I only drink chocolate. But I add decaf instant coffee and peppermint extract.
  19. I have the Hamilton Beach small blender, around $15-$20. It doubles as your drinking cup.
  20. Every doctor and dietitian are different. My doctor goes to 2 different hospitals so I switched dietitians and they have different food plans. Did you get a print out when you met with yours? I have from both of them. First food in is protein, then veggies, fruit and then carbs. Good luck.
