    Extreme Lower Abdominal Pain

Before I was banded I had to take 6 pills a day to eat because of a hernia and my stomach was in the wrong place. Were you tested for these? Maybe some foods are not agreeing with you. I was banded 7/30 and get terrible gas at night (my poor husband). Tomorrow I start Stage 5 so who knows what will agree or not. Good luck, call the dietitian.

    Holy Stuck Episodes!!!!

OMG! that stinks. I had my first fill on Friday. I was on liquids for 3 days and then soft foods for 3 and tomorrow I start stage 5 for life. Maybe you were suppose to have just liquids not any foods at the beginning. Feel better.

    Dr. Oz

Hello everyone, On Dr. Oz today Lisa Lampanelli is going to talk about having the sleeve surgery. She did it in the spring and has lost 80lbs. Great weight loss but way too fast. That is why I think the Band is so much better and safer. her husband also had the sleeve done. I can't wait to hear Dr. Oz's opinion on the sleeve. Enjoy Happy Hump Day, all!

    Please Help!

protein, protein for hair loss. About 25 years ago a cousin had gastric by pass and then they didn't know how important protein was and she sent bald. I make protein shakes for breakfast every day and use 1 1/2 scoops of the powder. I don't want to lose hair. Diet pills can be so dangerous. Maybe you need another fill and don't weigh yourself every day. My son told me to throw my scale out, but it's my friend. I don't exercise enough at all and know that would help my weight loss. Good luck.

    Notice Me, Please!

I know what you're talking about. I hate to be noticed yet I want people to comment. I just saw a lot of people for the Jewish New Year and most people said nothing and I am down 57 lbs. That sucked. I feel for you. I just put on a new pair of jeans that I bought last week and they were tight. They are a misses, not women's size 18! That is great for me. Good luck.

    Crazy To Be Dating Pre-Op?

Great story about the date. Good for you to date before banding. Did you tell the man? Sorry to hear that your ex won't be part of your new "you". His loss when he sees the new you. I have not felt this great in years even with a bad back and terrible knees. Good luck with your new wardrobe.

    Countdown To 1St Fill

Glad to hear your bleeding is over with. That really was awful. I just got my first fill on Friday, 2 months after my banding. So for 3 days I was on shakes again and the weight comes off fast. Now until Thursday it's back to soft foods. Then Thursday, my birthday, I am on Stage 5 for life. Can't wait to have lobster again. My stomach never stops grumbling, especially when I go to bed at night. I don't dream of food anymore. My husband said to me today about taking small pieces of some of my favorite foods but I didn't do this to be bad. I am going to try pizza this weekend. I do miss that a lot. Stay positive and think thin!

    Do U Still Feel Fat???

This morning I said to my husband I know my clothes are big but I still feel fat. When I look into the mirror, I see fat me. I was banded 7/30 but started losing weight in March and I am down 57 lbs. I put on a size 3x 't' this morning and it is huge! The sleeves are very long. That makes me feel great but I still feel very fat. When does this disappear? Good luck with your weight loss.

    New Week, New Start...

Nice to hear your 2 sons are getting better. I see you're from my area. What hospital did you go to? I went to the BI in Boston. They were great. If you are near Rt 1 in Walpole, the IHOP has a great pot roast with mashed potatoes. I have had it a few times. I am over 55 so the portion is fine for me. Good luck with the boys! and yourself. You are worth it, just remember.

    September 29

I love protein shakes. I buy only chocolate and add some decaf instant coffee and peppermint extract and a real lot of ice. It becomes very thick like a McDonald's shake. I use skim milk also. I just had my first fill and will be on shakes until tomorrow. One good thing, I am losing a real lot of weight! Since Friday at the doctor's I am down another 5 lbs. Think, thin and smaller size clothes. Good luck, it's only temporary. I also had a hernia repaired and my stomach was in the wrong place. The banding is/was the best thing I ever did for ME! Have a great week.

    1St Fill

Just had my first fill. Back to liquids for 3 days, then soft mashed foods for 3 days and then STAGE 5!!!!!! Can't wait. I miss shrimp, lobster and salad. My husband misses us having Chinese food. Today really starts the rest of my life. I am making a promise to myself never to be obese again. I didn't go to this extreme (surgery) to be fat. I really enjoy this site and reading about everyone. Thank you all. You all give me encouragement that only Banders would understand. Have a great weekend. If you're from NE, stay dry.

Tomorrow I see the doctor and may get my first fill. I am nervous. I am doing fine as is. After the doctor I have a dietitian meeting about new foods. I miss bread. I went to Olive Garden today, no bread sticks, no pasta and no salad. I ate a small piece of chicken grilled and mashed potatoes. Tasted great but it was Olive Garden, home of the endless salad. It is 2 months since my banding and I'm doing super. I don't get enough exercise in. I can't afford the gym right now but hope to join one within the next month or so. Next week is my birthday and I would like to go walking around down town Boston and window shop but my husband isn't well enough to walk around. He has health issues. Last year on my birthday I took him home from the hospital after open heart surgery. The heart is fine, it's the rest of the body that isn't doing well. He's another whole story. I just needed to vent-thank you for listening.

    Eating Out

When I go out to eat, I eat out a lot for dinner, I order from the children's menu. I have been very strict with my eating. I hope it lasts.Yesterday I had a lunch order of turkey tips and mashed potatoes and had more than enough food. My biggest concern is this week coming up. It is the Jewish New Year and eating at other's homes and an engagement party. I haven't eaten with people who do not know about my banding and I am very nervous when people see a very small amount on my plate, it is buffet dining. My husband said to just say I am watching what I am eating, that is how I lost 51 lbs. since March! I do not plan on telling others about my surgery, too much privacy for me. I know most people are very proud but I feel like a failure and this was the only thing that can help me. A doctor told me that I am not a failure because I went for help by being banded. Do any of my fellow banders feel this way? Have a great Sunday. Super weather in Boston.

    What Is Normal?

What is a normal weekly weight loss for a bander? I was banded 7/30 and have been losing 1-3 lbs. per week. Is this normal or just normal for me? I see my surgeon and dietitian this Friday. I have not had a fill yet. I hope to go onto stage 5 of the meal plan also. I miss salad, bread, pasta and pizza. I hope they are allowed. I know small amounts but I would like to have them back. I do miss my Dunkin Donuts ice tea, which had caffeine. I brew my own decaf every day, I drink a lot of ice tea with Splenda. I also like Dairy Queen soft serve ice cream. What do others miss that you gave up when you were banded? Have a great day. Happy New Year to all.

    Pre-Op

Good luck. We all lose weight while on the pre surgery diet. You still need the extra help of the Lap Band. I had the surgery 7/30 and now food doesn't interest me like it did before. You will do great. Remember the LapBand is like a band aid-it helps but does not cure you. You still have to exercise and eat properly. I just came back from a huge buffet dinner and ate what I am allowed. I had no hot fudge sundae, no fruit or other great looking deserts. But I will weight less than the people who ate all that in the morning!!! Clothes buying in smaller sizes is fun too.
  17. dylanmiles23

    Its Official

Good luck with your new surgery. Sorry to hear that the band didn't work for you. Good luck with the sleeve, hope it works and look great soon.

Lack Of Support From Family Md

Time for a new doctor? My lung doctor set me up for the surgery, not my PCP. My PCP is behind me with the banding, though. My surgeon likes by pass better but I don't. I know about 6 people who had by pass and they are all big again. It is a band aid not a cure. We have to want to change our nasty eating habits. I have and I am proud of myself. I hope one day to wear a size 12 or 14. I don't need to be skinny, I am 62 next week. Do it for you and no one else.

    She's Baaaaack!

Hello, I totally know what you feel about the mirror. My face does look thinner but I still see fat, fat everywhere. The scale is down and clothes are huge but I see fat. Since March I am down 53 lbs., banded in July. I have thought of seeing someone but where they take my insurance they are very young and keep leaving as soon as you get comfortable with the person. Ugh! Keep up the good work. I am glad other people have the same thoughts as me.

    It's Approved

I totally know what you are talking about. I was Banded 7/30 and up until I went into the operation room, I was ready to say NO. I am so happy I did it. I look better and feel much better. I can walk now and I actually enjoy it. I can now buy clothes in the misses department not the women's. I call it the FF department, Fat F-ck. That is what I also called myself, FF. No more. After being on protein shakes for so long, food means nothing to me now. I do miss pizza, my favorite food. Some day I will have one slice again. I miss salad but know protein is more important. You will do great! Do it for your better health and new clothes. What woman doesn;t want new clothes in a smaller size? Good Luck!!!!!!

    Blogs

Happy Sunday evening. I wanted to tell everyone I really enjoy reading your blogs. They help to keep me going and show that anything is possible. I am in stage 4 of my food plan. I make a super turkey stuffing with Ritz and cooked vegetables. Since I am allowed those, can I have some stuffing? Or is it too heavy? I am torn. I know I can eat the turkey. One food that I really enjoy and eat too much of is jumbo lump crab. Does anyone else enjoy this? I eat it as is, no mayo. Thank you fellow Banders, you're all great.

    Blogs

A New Dawn-thank you very much. I use Ritz crackers not bread. I am not going to have it tonight. I'll wait until Thanksgiving and have a tablespoon.

    Omg Phlegm

Hi I know what you mean. I have Phlegm when I have my protein shakes. It's the dairy. I never asked the doctor about it. I see him Friday.

    Preparation

I wish you a lot of luck. The band is the best thing I ever did. I was banded 7/30 and since my highest weight in March I am down 52! I am very different than you, I weigh myself way too many times a day. One son told me to throw the scale away. I just can't part with my friend. For chewable vitamins I use CVS and Caltrate gummy bites for calcium and vitaminD. You will do great, November 7th is my 42nd anniversary. Great date.About hair loss, just make sure you get in all your protein. I had a cousin who did by pass over 25 years ago when still on the newer side and they didn't know about protein then and she went bald. It's the protein that keeps you with hair. My dietitian said to have protein before the other foods when eating. I use 1 1/2 scoops of protein when I make my shakes. Enjoy the weekend.

Why Must I Learn The Hard Way? Seriously....

I once ate too fast, same feeling. Had to walk around the house many times. Never again will I eat fast. The experts know their business. I go for a follow up next week. Maybe a fill, don't know and maybe stage 5 of the food plan. That would be nice. I miss salad and pasta. Good luck.
