About Me
In January 2012 I was 301 pounds. I was diabetic (insulin dependant, insulin resistant) with an A1C of 11.4, I had high cholesterol, thyroid problems, Gall stones, non alcoholic liver disease, kidney problems, and due to the fact of being so overweight I was always exhausted. I wanted to be able to do more with my 4 kids without getting tired or worrying about embarrassing them. It was time for a change.
I went to see the bariatric surgeon and decided the gastric sleeve was right for me. I did everything he asked me to do and was approved by my insurance for the surgery. Started full liquids on July 20, 2012. Surgery was July 27, 2012. Everything went great. Got the sleeve, gall bladder removed and a hiatal hernia repaired.
Released from hospital July 28, 2012 on full liquid diet. Started purees August 3rd. Softs August 10th. Regular diet Agust 17th. No problems.
I watch what I eat (never get hungry), take my supplements, go to the gym 4 or more times a week, walk every morning atleast 30 mins and try to get another walk in the afternoon or evening and the weight is coming off nicely. I feel good. My A1C is down to 6.1, my liver enzymes are getting better, my cholesterol is normal, and I am HAPPY. Its a lot of work but man is it worth it! This is just the first step to my new lifelong health.
