I'm 5'2.5" and I've been stuck at 181. I wear a size 10 in Jeans and an XL in shirts. I don't know if my shirt size went down yet. Probably has since everyone I know says my shirts are big on me now.

    I'm 5'8 and about 359. I wear size 28 or 30 pants but I usually wear dresses/skirts and I take a 3X in most of those. Shirts 2X or 3X.

Oh how scary! So happy you made it through! I'm not an experienced bypass patient, but I do know fried, greasy foods can cause dumping as well. You'll want to find out if your meds can be crushed, or switched to formulations that can be, at least for the first couple months postop.
You will experience slower weight loss than a fresh bypass patient would.. and ultimately your final weight will be what you make it out to be. (If you stick to the program and can exercise, there is no reason you can't go as low as you like). But, 240 or 220 is probably obtainable within a year without too much hardship.

This morning, my scale said 397. That's a total of 62lbs lost since November 2012 high weight, and 20lbs lost since surgery 11 days ago.

    Hi!
I am also 5'11, my high weight was 460. I lost about 50 pre-op, and almost another 100 post op. But I plateaued and then started to regain. I had my surgery in 2012. I'm also having some complications now, I go see a surgeon tomorrow and may be revising to DS.
The sleeve was an amazing tool and it really is my fault that I didn't continue to lose with it. I fell wayyyy off post-op diet and then got pregnant. I'm currently still well below where I started at 460, but I want to lose more and since my complication will likely require surgery, I may go for DS as well so I can get back on the losing track!
I opted for sleeve initially because I felt it was the best of my options and I knew there was the option to revise to DS if needed. Personally, I would recommend starting with a sleeve as post-op DS is a bit more intense because of the malapsorptive effect it has.

OMG! I can not believe what you went through in January! Horrible is an understatement. And the trying to keep food down now? I am so very sorry for you about this. And yes, of course your son was more than worth it, but you have paid a huge price. And I think it's so very strange that the weight isn't just falling off of you now, because you don't keep everything down. I hope your appt. is EARLY April because you must get yourself taken care of!! And thanks for the DS answer. I have heard of it, but know nothing about it. I will educate myself and look it up! I truly hope that you will keep in touch, as I am very worried for you. (But I don't even know your name, lol) which if you'd prefer not to offer it up, that's fine. If you would like to write to me off of the site, you are more than welcomed. tomswifeforever@aol.com
PLEASE take care of yourself and keep in touch!

    Hi everyone!
I had sleeve surgery in May 2013. Initially I lost about 140lbs, but then about a year and half post op I got pregnant. I gained some weight during and after pregnancy, and then lost some weight as well, and now I'm having a complication of some esophageal issues where I'm not able to swallow correctly. I have an appointment with a really great surgeon at an exceptional hospital in the Chicago area. I will have my first visit with them in April.
I was hospitalized in January for Fluid build up and severe infection of my right lung. This was caused by aspirating food and fluid due to my esophageal problem. They did an esophogram and upper GI while I was in the hospital, and the gastroenterologist who was treating me in the hospital informed me that my sleeve had stretched, my stomach was nearly the size of a normal stomach. Additionally, the lower part of my esophagus where it connects to the stomach is dilated, as if my lower esophagus has been acting as a food pouch for quite some time.
I was really shocked by this, as I had no issues post op from my sleeve and only stopped losing weight when I became pregnant, which I figured was to be expected. But since I had my baby in May 2015, I have struggled to lose anything. I was doing a Keto diet at the end of last year and that was working, until I got sick in January. Now that my esophageal issues have been diagnosed, I have trouble eating anything solid. My weight has maintained since I was admitted in January but I haven't had any significant loss since then.
Long story short, my primary focus is to get my esophagus issues figured out and fixed, but they referred me to two different docs - one that specializes in swallowing disorders, and the other is a GI/bariatric surgeon to address my stretched pouch. Since I'll likely need surgery to fix my esophagus, it would make sense to do any revision to my sleeve at the same time.
I feel like I have 2 options (maybe 3) to discuss with regard to fixing the sleeve. Either re-sleeve, DS, or revise to gastric bypass.
I should note that my highest weight was around 460, so even when I was at my lowest weight before getting pregnant, I was still at 306ish. I'm currently around 340-345 putting my BMI around 48.
When I first started thinking of going the surgical route for WLS, something about the gastric bypass didn't appeal to me. So now I am struggling with if I should re-sleeve or go for the DS. I'm thinking since I still have so much to lose, the DS might be a better choice, but I honestly don't know enough about it to make a decision.
I've read the limited info I could find about DS, I realize it's not a particularly popular surgical choice, but I want to hear from people who've had it, possibly people who had it after having a sleeve. I'd love to hear your stories and thoughts on the DS!

Good luck to you, too - how long do you have left? Do you have a surgery date?

well, first off I think you need to find something else to scratch that itch when you're not happy.
for me it's cleaning. yes, I am a stress cleaner. I do feel a lot of satisfaction when I've beaten the dirt out of my kitchen or bathroom.
second, back to basics with the eating. It may numb you up in the feels for a while, but it doesn't last and it all comes crashing down on you in the end. so - have to retrain your brain to think of food as fuel.

I lost 160 lbs at my lowest but have since gained 70 back. I had surgery almost 3 years ago.
I am still better off than where I started. I was able to get pregnant and have a child, which accounts for some of my gain, but I was slowly gaining prior to that because I stopped following the diet and exercise program.
Now that my baby is a little older, I'm getting back to the gym and hope to lose all I gained back, and then some.

I know the feeling... I've regained a lot of weight since my post-op low weight, due to pregnancy and backsliding on my diet. I'm not yet to the point where I don't fit in some chairs or booths, but I'm getting close. My lowest I was a size 24 (on my 5'10" body, it was quite slim, especially compared to where I started) and I really miss being that "skinny".
I haven't fit into my jeans since about 3 month mark of my pregnancy. My baby is 10 months old now. I'm determined to get there, and beyond!

*pretty sure* she's talking about the opurity vitamins that are sold on the Unjury site. I got them as well, but haven't tried them yet - saving them for post op (which is less than a week, had to throw that in there!). They make a multi-v specifically for "bypass & sleeve" as well as a different one for lap band, I believe. unjury.com or opurity.com. 90 day supply for like 35$.

I think I'll always be fat.

    I'm actually okay with that.

I was near 500lbs when I started this journey. My physical ability was nearly non-existent. Had I not had my sleeve, I would probably need motorized cars at stores at this point.

I've lost over 150lbs. My lowest weight was 317 at 2 years post op, and then.... I got pregnant!

See, life changed completely after my sleeve.

I found out I was pregnant in September last year, so I was about 16-17 months post op. I'm 37 weeks pregnant now and just had my 2 year anniversary of surgery on May 2nd.
My symptoms were just a missed period. I tracked my period religiously on an app on my phone, so when I still hadn't gotten it on the day it should have ENDED, I took a pee-test and was positive. I wasn't trying to get pregnant, but the only "birth control" we used was the pull out method, which obviously isn't a good method, lol.
I'm 34 and this is my first, I really didn't think I'd ever have children because of my weight in the past. So I'm glad that I was able to conceive without the stress of TRYING to conceive! I literally had my last period on my 34th bday and cried that night, thinking "I'm never going to have children, it's too late for me now..." something in my mind said if I didn't have a child before turning 35, I never would. So turning 34 was bittersweet because I felt like my time was up, and I was finally getting to a point in my life where I WANTED children.
Well... those tears were heard by someone, because the next time I ovulated, I got knocked up!

Oh honey, I'm so sorry this happened to you. I would definitely report this to the hospital management, it is so unprofessional and unnecessary for anyone to treat you that way. Ever. Especially in a medical setting.
I feel awful that you wanted to "justify" your body, saying you were getting sleeved, as if you were "fixing" yourself. Our bodies are all made differently and our scars are the badges of what we have been through. For this person to take your attempt to gain empathy from her and turn it into MORE shame, is despicable and she should not have her job. Period. Please report this. Spare someone else a similar agony. The hospital will have record of who tended to you that day, even if you don't remember her name. If you write a letter, include any physical description you can of her to assist them in finding out who treated you like that.
Most hospitals will send out random surveys for their patients. Most hospitals ARE interested in knowing when things like this happen because they are, in addition to medical providers, a business. A business is only as valuable as it's reputation.
I've got my share of scars, from my sleeve and other things. Body pride isn't something I have exactly, but I don't want to be ashamed of it, either. I try my best to avoid that. All those scars are reminders of your strength and what your body can recover from. Please let this experience let you think less of HER, not of yourself. You've done nothing wrong.
    You've survived.

stress eating is so hard to control. get rid of unhealthy foods from your house so that when you need to stress eat all you have on hand is carrots or cottage cheese or something that is good for you!
I hope things get better with your family. Also, look into a gym with child care. My gym has it, it's only $3/hr! Plus the gym I go to is part of the park district so I can take my 6 year old and she can shoot hoops or walk the track for free. I'll use the childcare for my baby on the way.
