  6. It so funny that after a year, I still want to gravitate back to my old ways..at least I am strong now to recognize and not go there. I have to figure out what it is that I am actually wanting or missing...food was my friend for so long. I have been exercising more and I feel better about that. Soon the weather will be better and things will be easier I think.. I think I have been dealing with the winter blues and it is time for the sun to come out so I wont be in the house so much! One day at a time...

A year ago this week I started my two week pre op diet....I was so scared that I couldnt do it! It was tough! But my mnd was right and I knew that I needed to get healthy. Now as I look back, I am proud of how far I have made it. It is a journey and it has been slow going the last 6 months but I have always moved forward and it is a process of lifestyle change. Almost 35 years of bad habits are hard to change and break. I had always thought that this was an impossible dream and I have never had success with something this hard. I have and advanced degree and THAT was hard work but school was not that hard for me and I had no doubts I could do this. When I started this weight loss journey I had so many doubts and had always failed before. This tool that was provided for me helped me, but I have never worked so hard at something like this. It is life changing in so many ways. I knew going into this that this is a lifetime battle. I will always have to fight this. It feels good to have some kind of victory though! Keep moving forward....slow but sure...I can do this!

I haven't posted in awhile....life is getting in the way. I am finally on track again, I started tracking my calories and protien and making a point to drink all of my water and of course exercise. I am at 220 now and I am on my way.

geesh, finally below 250! So happy, I havent been below 250 in such a long time.....20 years! lol. Finally broke thru this plateau too! I wasn't too worried about this standstill because I know I have been doing the right things, and I am just enjoying this ride. It is the journey that has been really fulfilling for me, lots of appreciation and enjoyment of life.
  13. Oh I am so happy for you!! Congrats and keep up the work!! And thanks for inspiring me!
  14. I used to absolutely hate Crystal Lite and most anything else with sweetener in it....now I drink quite a bit of crystal lite and use a bit of suger free jam.
  15. wow....I DO isolate myself, didnt realize I wasnt the only one....I need to think about this one! and yes tthis surgery was hard although now I am at a point where I do not feel so alone. When I was really struggling, I had the mindset that I was alone, because it was/is MY battle. Now that I have gotten over the big humps, I am not as isolated...you have given me some things to ponder!
  16. yah did ya see the diet coke one?? yikes then again...good discussions on there too!
  17. Were you really sick for awhile too?? Our bodies are responding to alot of stress, and if you had a leak, that didn't help matters any. My nutritionist recommended the biotin vitamins but I had never seen any proof that they really worked( I am in the pharmaceutical field) I wonder if they work or is my body healing and getting better nutrition? My hair starting falling out about a month ago, I am also wondering when it will stop. All the more reason to fill up on protiens instead of any carbs! And I am taking the biotin just in case it does help!
  18. Anyone noticed that their tastes for certain things have changed??? I am 4 months post op...I used to love drinking water, now it is hard to choke it down without a bit of flavor, I have also tried a little peanut butter...yuck it has no peanut taste, all I can taste is the grease/fat in it.(not that it is a bad thing that I dont't like the taste anymore!) Also chicken tastes so plan and blah...maybe it is because I am losing the "thrill" feeling of food and am now eating for the nutrition. Not complaining, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
  19. Well, I am glad I was able to provide some great discussion with my original post!! A good place to exchange ideas and advice! thanks! oh...it looks like everyone is experiencing great success with their plans...keep it up!
  20. I miss my Diet Dr Pepper!! I stopped drinking it 2 weeks before surgery. I missed my morning coffee too! My surgeon says no caffiene or pop until 6 months post op. Well, I did try the pop at 3 months post op and it sure does NOT taste the same!! And now, when I drink a decaf coffee or a pop, my body is not used to the caffeine!! I pee like a race horse!
