  1. I think you still need to rest as much as you can. Your body is expending all of its energy to heal. (-: I was tired for the first couple of weeks with each day getting progressively better. Remember this is a major surgery.
  2. I havent tried it but Ive always heard you want whey protein isolate because it is easily absorbed. There are other types of proteins but its my understanding you wont absorb them as well.
  3. The gasX strips can be used in the hospital, no problem. They will not affect your pain meds or antibiotics. Good luck to you!
  4. LOL this post is funny! And hey, there is nothing like the feeling after a good poo!!!!! LOL
  5. Hi Janine and welcome back! I think its never to late to lose weight. I'm only 2 months out, however I have read lots of posts here about a "boot camp" or "5 day pouch test" to help you get back into the groove. If you google it, there is one specific to sleeve. Also, exercising and logging your food into something like myfitnesspal to track your Protein, cals, etc. would help. http://www.5daypouchtest.com/ Here is a link, but its for rny. I don't know if it helps for sleeve, but you can check it out. There may be posts on this vst site as well for the boot camp. LilMissDiva posted a boot camp somewhere on here. Good luck and let us know how you do! :-)
  6. Wow you look great! You will have to take a pic in your Eagles jersey!!!
  7. Yes I am the same. Even water is gross and my favorite crystal light drinks are no longer good to me. Im 7 weeks postop.
  8. Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!! This was very motivational....ty! (-: You look gorgeous!
  9. Happy birthday! Good luck to you...what a present (-:
  10. I had asked my anesthesiologist when he saw me right before surgery to please give me extra dose of zofran at the end of my case. So i woke up with no nausea and no pain. I remember thinking when i woke up that "wow, it doesnt hurt like i thought it would." They also had removed my foley catheter so i had to get up to go to bathroom often. I think that helped alot too, walking.
  11. Much rather you come to hospital and it be "just gas" than you NOT come in while you were having a heart attack doing irreversible damage to your heart!!hugs!
  12. You dont want to use steristrips now because it needs to be cleaned well first. If there is a hole, depending how deep, thats going to make an ugly scar if its deep. If it is dry and no redness or drainage then its ok, no infection. Also, if its been healing now for 3 weeks, im not sure it will even heal closed. You can always call your surgeons office on Monday morning and ask them if you can come in so they can maybe put dermabond or steristrips??? Like i said, without seeing how much it has healed, its hard to say. Is it a deep hole?
  13. Have you tried unsweetened almond milk? It is very light.
  14. Even though you ate a small amount, your stomach has to work much harder to break down that type of food vs. full liquid or pureed. You want it to rest so it can heal that very long staple line.
  15. Ok, i didnt lose alot of weight the first month either. In fact i am 6 weeks post op tomorrow and my total weight loss is 31 lbs as of this morning, and that includes the 10 lbs i lost on preop liquid diet. I have had a couple of stalls, longest one 2 weeks. Just dont worry about the scale. Just keep eating what you are supposed to and drinking Water. I tried a new Protein Shake the other day and it was delicious. Its called Cake Batter. 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1 scoop vanilla Protein Powder, 1 tbsp sugar free instant Jello pudding vanilla flavor (i used white choc flavor cuz thats what i had on hand), 1 tsp almond extract, 2 tbsp truvia. Add ice and water to desired thickness, blend in blender. Tastes just like cake batter!!! If you like cottage cheese, it is an excellent source of Protein. Good luck! Hope this helps!!! (-:
  16. I have been having a hard time getting in my fluid too...and yes, I feel the samr. I make myself eat so I wont get sick, but Im not all that hungry. Maybe we are ready to hybernate for the winter!!!! Hahaha
  17. I am 5 weeks out and feel the same way! Glad to know its not just me!!!
  18. I didnt have to start any vitamins until 1 week postop. Notepad for journaling or writing down questions. Maybe a robe for walking after surgery.
  19. No coughing blood...and NO PILLS!!! Why did they give you pills? That is wrong, you should have liquid pain meds. And if by some strange reason you were SUPPOSED to get pills, instructions would have been to crush them. RED FLAGS HERE call your surgeon now.
  20. Thats a sweet super sweet looking jersey in preop pic on 10/1. Watching Eagles now. You look great!
  21. It is my understanding that we will take Vitamins for the rest of our life. Chewables are more readily absorbed but i dont know if u have to have chewables. I prefer to have chewables. I took Bariatric Advantage with no problems preop. Postop however makes me gag and wanna get sick. So i need to find another Vitamin. I liked bariatric advantage because they have so many vitamins. But just the thought of them makes me queasy....maybe i will try flintstones complete. Does anyone else have any suggestions? I try to find one without a bunch of added sugars (like the gummy ones have).
  22. I go to my surgeon this Wed. for my 1 month follow-up. He told me if everything is good, he will release me to full activity (lifting weights, exercising). For now, I have only been allowed to walk and do the treadmill. No eliptical due to the twisting motion, and no weight lifting. You mentioned you may have pulled a muscle. Could that be from using the shaker weights? Even though you are using your arms, it uses your core muscles as well. You will have plenty of time to work your arms once you are healed. My surgeon had told me on the large incision, he had to cut through abdominal muscle to make that hole to remove the excess part of stomach. You want that to heal nicely so you won't get a hernia. Please be careful with the shaker weights. Walking is good exercise for now.....just sayin.
