Addiction Addiction Addiction
I was smoking a pack a day of Reds. I have asthma and it was terrible for me, but I did it for almost 7 years. I quit cold turkey in January, and it was the best thing I ever did. I'm constantly surrounded by smokers..both my parents smoke, my boyfriend, and almost all of my friends. I felt like it was unrealistic for me to think I wouldn't be around smokers, their everywhere. And of course from time to time I really want one, but I won't allow myself to have one. I have really strong willpower. If you don't think you can quit cold turkey, my advice is to start smoking a brand you don't like, and also try stopping your "favorite" one. For me, my "favorite" was the one I smoked on the way to work. Once I stopped having that one, it was a lot easier. Just a few pointers! Good luck! You can do it!

Anyone Doing The I Can Change Program?
My doctor told me it could be up to 2 weeks before they called, but luckily it was only about 4 days later! Try not to miss the call and any call therefore after. She told me if you miss them its equivalent to missing an appointment and Tufts can either drop you from the program or make you restart it. Are you from Mass?

Anyone Doing The I Can Change Program?
Hiii! I'm enrolled in the Tufts "I can change program". I am very excited and nervous also! I've been in the program for a month, I finish up January 5th. Next week is my 3rd phone call. It's just a series of phone calls. The 6 Months officially starts at the date of the first phone call. I've been pretty lucky, the lady I've been assigned to is awesome, we hit it off right away. I was having similar reservations about telling my friends about the surgery. I actually made a post on here and got a ton of great feedback from members. So far I've told my parents, my 3 sisters, my boyfriend and my best friend. I haven't told any of my other friends about it. I'm only 25 and just worried it'll get around my town really quick. I think I'll tell them once I'm a few months post op and have started shedding some weight. Maybe you should bring your husband to a WLS so he'll know more about the surgery? Its very invasive and maybe if he hears that it'll make him feel more comfortable? That's what I did with my parents and my older sister. Good luck with your first consult!!

Pcp Problems?
I mentioned the lapband to my old PCP about 3 years ago, and she dismissed it right away saying it was a terrible idea, very dangerous and would never agree to me having it. I was so discouraged, I thought it was a great idea for myself. I ended up switching to a new PCP a year ago after getting terrible care there and being misdiagnosed often. My new PCP gave me a big hug when I asked her what she thought about the surgery, and signed my papers for my insurance company. Hopefully I'll be banded in the next few months! Good luck!!

Do You Have A Favorite Brand Of Protein Shakes?
I'm so glad I'm going to a WSL next week..apparently I have a lot more to learn before my surgery. I had no idea you needed to mix unflavored protein in with your food to make sure you're getting enough protein. What type of food do you usually mix it in?

Lets Be Proud
I'm 25..and have been overweight almost my entire life. I'm 5'7" 265 which is my highest weight I've been. I've always been the "fat friend" and the "one with the pretty face". I can't wait to see what its like the live as the other half. I have back problems, asthma, high blood pressure..etc. I just finished my first month of Tufts 6 Month "can change" program, and hopefully will be banded within a month of finishing it. I've only told my immediate family, boyfriend and best friend..all of them have been very supportive! My Dad is also doing it with me..I'm more excited for him than me!
