It's not as fast as I thought it would be, but being a revision patient I was told it would be slower. Plus I really can't complain about 40lbs in 12 weeks!

I'm six months out from bypass and have experienced no hair loss. My recent blood work shows my nutrient/vitamin levels are all great.
The possibility of GERD issues was one of the reasons I chose bypass over sleeve. I have had zero complications and am only 16 pounds from goal. I'm very happy with my progress.
    Good luck!

I joined the gym last week and this week stuck in the house because of blizzard. I had my 3 month appt last week. Labs look great, I had to cut back on my B Vitamins and my cholesterol is 120! I am losing hair too. I have lost 28% of excesos weight. They don't like to set goals, but told me at 6 months they like to see 40-50% EWL. I think once I get in the gym. I have been snacking a bit much being stuck at home. Trying to drink plenty of Water. The struggle is Real!

SleeveandRNYchica reacted to Kathy Coop in 200 pounds a REAL look at weight loss (skin galore)
I posted this last year on another board. I will share it here as well. I actually got thinner after this and I now have a 6th child but I stand by the rest of what was said.
I wanted to give you guys a REAL look at what weight loss surgery does to you so that if you decide to get it you know all the facts. I would do this surgery again in a heart beat, however it is not all rainbows and unicorns. I have an insane amount of excess skin, 2 hernias and Iron so low I have to be transfused weekly. At my heaviest being weighed I was 368 but I HAD ALREADY BEEN DIETING so I was probably closer to 380. I have had 5 kids and that has a lot to do with my stomach being so baggy, I am going to get the apron surgery and have that removed once my Iron is high enough. This surgery saved my life, I am not longer diabetic, my blood pressure is perfect and 5 months out of surgery I got pregnant with my daughter. It was a miracle for me but I wish someone had shown me REAL before and after photos so I would know what I was REALLY in for cosmetically.

SleeveandRNYchica reacted to Djmohr in Sharing before and After pics finally
As of this week I finally hit a normal BMI and i promised myself when that time came I would finally share some pictures. By the way, I still do not like having my picture taken but before I hid behind everyone and because I was tall it was easy to hide the rest of me. Now I definitely am willing to get in the shot and I no longer cringe when I see the pictures.
The only pics I could find before surgery were taken on a cruise with my hubby, Son and Granddaughter. These were taken 1 month before my bypass.

My after was taken earlier today, down 137lbs and finally at a BMI of 24.9

I hear you. I joined a gym this week but so far I haven't included exercise into my program at all. I need to make time for exercising! I think as a mom of young kids (3&5) I forget about self-care. And exercise will likely help push us through these stalls.
Ok I'm committing to actually entering the gym I joined! Haha

Following... I am in the process for revision with FEP... I do think they require that BMI of 35, but if you have other co morbities, maybe they will consider. I do believe you will pay more out of pocket by not using a center of excellence. I am in month two of 3 month supervised diet....my original surgery was done abroad and paid for by BCBS. I have some medical issues as well. I would just be sure to get your PCP to write a really great letter of necessity and follow the requirements to a T. Everything has to be done again.

SleeveandRNYchica got a reaction from BlueBongo in Has anyone become single as a result of their weight loss surgery?
When I met my husband in 2007, I was smaller still overweight but smaller. I worked out with a trainer and was very active. He was about 270 and he is 6ft tall. I like chubby boys too :-). Well he proposed and got serious and dropped about 40lbs he is very muscular so at 230 he looked amazing. I have gained weight throughout the years. He went to NUT with me and worked out with me. He saw my struggle and understood my decision for surgery. He even did preop horrible diet with me for 2weeks! So here I am needing revision surgery for health related reasons and he is still my biggest cheerleader. We have spoken about this subject. I can't imagine us ever leaving one another. He wants me to be healthy and happy. Plus he knows when I feel better about myself I am friskier!
I do believe that with weight loss comes confidence. If there are issues pre surgery they are even become more evident post surgery. The decision to have surgery is so emotional, a strong support system is key. If people are not supportive I think it is important to purge them.

I went to my GP today & I weighed, 198 !!!! Yea!!!! I broke the 200 mark! So Happy!!!! Doing well with the holiday meals, I try a bite of most things without sugar now & still haven't had any problems. My Water is still an issue with me, trying to get my 64oz by the end of the day. I seem to forget still, but other than that, no problems with Protein amounts!!! Hope everyone is having happy holidays!!! Can't wait to hear about your progress!!!

So I don't post much but felt like I really needed to because I am so happy right now. I went in early to see my surgeon because I was experiencing GERD. He has loosened the reigns and I am allowed to eat whatever my little heart desires, best part is my little heart still wants healthy foods! The good news didn't stop there. I made a goal to be 299 by New Year's Eve I wanted to start 2016 by losing 100lbs. I am so happy that my goal was met today when I weighed in today and the scale read 298. I made it to twonderland and couldn't be happier. My surgeon is so proud of my progress I walked into his office in June weighing 400lbs today 6 months later I walked out of his office at 298. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that I've lost 102lbs!!!
    Starting Weight 6/30/2015 - 400
    Surgery Weight 10/07/15- 352
    Current Weight 12/29/15 - 298

Just want to say Merry Christmas to everybody. I love reading your updates and helpful tips about what you have been able to eat or what you think you should avoid or even about yourself because I've had a few myself and it feels good to know you're not alone. I hope you have a happy and safe New Year as well! I myself have run into only one time something came up and I think it was because I caught the 24 hour stomach flu that was going around in my area. I ended up trying the same thing later on well after I was done being sick and I had no problems. I can't wait till I'm able to go back to the gym in January I've been cleared for exercise but I had my membership put on hold for the surgery and it doesn't start up until January. I think I feel a lot better once I'm able to incorporate exercise into my life style again. I know that when I was going to the gym to lose weight before the surgery after I made it a routine it really became a good part of my life. And so I want to make sure I get back into that.

I know and thank you! I guess I am more concerned about what the dr thinks. My last visit I think they expected more and stalls where never mentioned. I expected it honestly. I am just concerned how they will respond at my next appt and I think that is where the pressure comes from.

Just tried the Barbeque chips and can't believe there only 120 calories, no sugar and 20something grams of Protein. I read the reviews on these and the negative ones were from people expecting them to taste like potato chips. They don't. But the crunch and barbeque flavor is yum.
I'm still in the pureed food phase but chew these until they're pureed. Just can't "stomach" Protein shakes.

@@SleeveandRNYchica Hopefully your doctor understands stalls. Although mine never mentioned anything about it before surgery when I went for my 6 week checkup and mentioned them to the doctor he told me not to worry about them. He said that often weight loss happens like steps with plateaus instead of a straight line down. I think what they want to see is a downward trend and that you are getting in your Protein, Water and Vitamins.< /p>
I have noticed that since I upped my calories to 800 a day and added a few good carbs that my weight is coming off nicely. Also drinking all my water helps alot.
Don't worry about what your doctor will say - just adhere to the plan. Knowing you are doing the right things and that the weight loss will eventually start again is what is important. It sometimes takes awhile for our bodies to do what we want them to do! Hang in there...
