cheznoel, Paleo is absolutely a lifestyle. Best thing that my family has done for each other. Healthy, clean non processed eating that makes sense for the way our bodies have evolved to metabolize food. I was looking for other Paleo folks, not feedback on whether its a good idea or not. I'm glad your way is working for you!

Did i just find the best thread! I do cross fit and my husband is a trainer. My husband has done paleo whether casual or hard core he's done both. I am very interested in what and how much people eat on paleo.

Hey I'm in Florida too! woot woot. Paleo makes so much sense and has changed the life of my husband kids and I. It feels so good to eat that way. I of course was not a strict Paleo or I wouldn't have needed to get the lapband. We have ALLLL the books, I have listed to a lot of podcasts and read several blogs. The pre op diet with these stupid chemical shakes has been killing me. And so many on here talk about eating so much bad food...its really remarkable. Let's talk about BACON!! ha. It freaks people out so badly. Oh wait, let me show you this funny

I am a total Paleo snob! I'm totally ok with it!

I'm trying to do Paleo. I don't think I'm quite 80/20 but I'm getting there. What I have done has allowed me to stop diabetes medication. I'm thrilled with that. I don't do CrossFit. I've taken up riding my bike and I do yoga once a week. Last week, I rode just over a hundred miles. I'm pretty proud of myself. When it warms up I'm going to try standup paddle boarding.
Have you read Practical Paleo it's a really good book?

Bandedbibi reacted to this sucks in Vitamins
Not true...malabsorption doesn't just occur in bypass. I only say this out of personal experience. At a little over a year out, I started having really odd symptoms that mimicked a stroke. It took many months of testing before my bariatric internist did "micronutrient"testing on my blood. I was deficient in many key vitamins-D, B12, Iron, Magnesium to name a few. I started intensive Vitamin therapy in February and didn't start to fell better until April. According to her, because we have less surface in our gut to absorb the nutrition from food, it's not unheard of to have issues.
I know this isn't a response to the Gummy Vitamin question, but I think it's important that ALL bandsters understand the importance of getting sufficient Vitamins in whatever form they can...

Another muffin tin recipe I make (which I got from that ***** guy show) is this:
Cook leeks and mushrooms, I add a bit of garlic to mine, season with a bit of pepper. In a muffin tin line with ham or bacon, spoon some of the leek and mushroom mixture in, break an egg on top and bake till egg is cooked, about 20 minutes. I will eat half and these are so tasty. When frying the mushroom and leeks use a nonstick pan so you don't need to add any oils or butter. I serve it up with either a small salad or steamed vegetables.

    Hello there!
I am still in the full-liquids stage, but I am getting ready for FOOD! My doctor wants me to eat Protein first and then if I am hungry green veggies. So for breakfast, I have come up with these mini-quiches (no crust) that I can add veggies to. They are baked in a muffin tin so there are 12 pieces and I can vary the ingredients so I don't get burned out and my family will eat them too. You can search online for "muffin tin quiche" for different recipes. For lunch, my plan is to start off w/fish and work up to more firm meats/poultry. I think making different types of lettuce wraps is going to work for me. A fish taco, without the tortilla (maybe use wonton wrappers instead?). Baked fish seasoned and wrapped in kale. Thai lettuce wraps w/ground beef? Mini-meatloaf also made in the muffin tin (it's a perfect size).
I've tried to take things that I like to eat and lower the carb content and make it in a size that will work w/my band. I've also gotten a lot of recipe ideas from some Paleo bogs.
    Good luck!

Yesterday it was in high 80's and now today it's dropped down to the high 60's. I was actually cold so I went into my closet to pull out my once favorite black cardigan.
The cardigan I wore the day I had surgery and I haven't worn in many months.
Holy cow, I couldn't believe how huge it was on me! I mean, I guess I should've known because I've dropped 5-6 sizes since then, but putting that sweater on was a "wow" moment. It really put into perspective how far I've come. Especially considering the day of surgery, I couldn't button it because it was too tight across the tummy if I did.
So, I thought I'd share the difference. Here is me in the now massive sweater

During the liquid stage my surgeon wanted me to have clear broths (chicken & beef), crystal light, sugar free ice pops and Jello as well as Protein Shakes. My husband & I noth use a Protein Shake put out by Myoplex (26 grams of Protein adn 3 grams of carbs). I am on the pureed stage and have added creamy Peanut Butter to the blender when I make my shakes to vary the flavor a bit.

    Hi there!
I am getting banded, TODAY!!! My family is having lunch and then we are off to the hospital. Not really nervous, but just ready to get it done. I could kill for a drink (of water) right now and unfortunately for me, I am getting hungry...ugh!
    Wish me luck!

Four hours to lift off. Can't wait. Just want some Water. Nothing after midnight and surgery isn't till 1:30. I had bad low blood sugar reactions on no sugar liquid 3 day diet. Tell your Dr. if you are hypoglycemic. Had to load up on Snapple. Lost 10lbs though in 3 days. That's a big motivation.
Will let you know how it goes.

    Greetings All!
I'm Bibi and I am getting banded on the 20th (this Friday!)! I am very excited and a bit nervous too. I am 43yrs old and I live in Largo, FL. I am on day 9 of my pre-op liquid diet and I have lost 15lbs. I lost the 15lbs in the first 4 days and now I think my body freaked out and is holding on to all fat stores . I am happy about the 15lbs loss, but wondering if it should be more.
I have been reading a lot of blogs and lurking on the boards learning from everyone's experiences. I am grateful that there are so many people who are willing to share their successes and failures. I am really anxious about moving forward, but I know that I have to let things follow their course.
    Best wishes,
soon to be banded, but for right now...
