2012 got a reaction from PattyGirl66 in Chocolite - anyone try?
I think I will too , wish I had seen them last week when I put in an order for Blue Diamond almonds to get the free shipping. If you like almonds, the habanero bbq are awesome, low sodium, great net carb and good for you in moderation (I only eat 1-2 servings a day). The cadbury commercials have me hunting for chocolate, I love cadbury eggs, I found a substitute (here's a recipe if you are interested: http://healthyindulg...ury-creme-eggs/, the filling is a little too good), but these looked good too .

This might make you feel better, I work with a bunch of RDs and even a bodybuilder, so you can imagine the feedback I get . I'll listen to what they have to say, but I go by what my bloodwork and nutritionist tells me and I've been losing consistently, 87 as of today (woohoo!) and obviously I'm doing something right.

I personally just don't think it's anyone's business, it's my personal life, so I choose to not tell people, except for 3 people. My own brother doesn't even know because I know how he reacted to my mom getting gastric bypass. I'm not embarrassed at all and the same tools I use (HRM, MFP, walking, etc.) can be applied to others if they are willing to use these tools, but I know my history and needed my little friend to help and so far, so good.

I am not ashamed of be banded and I don't feel like I am cheating. However, I only told a few people about my WLS because I didn't want to deal with the stigma of "taking the easy way out". I have very hard by watching my portions and exercising. It has not been easy for me, yet some people that know about my WLS still think that I "took the easy way out. I can't be concerned with their opinion. I don't feel like I am being dishonest when someone ask me what I am doing to loss the weight and I reply Portion Control, exercise, etc... because that is the truth. I personally didn't feel that omitting the fact about my band gives someone false hope. I know plenty of people who had WLS (gastric bypass and the band) that failed!!

Asheigh you are correct it is a very personal decision and everyone has to be comfortable talking about how they lose weight. There is so much stigma attached to WLS and so many people do expect people who lose weight to fail at some point or back slide and gain weight back or revert to bad habits. I do understand how you feel and we all chose to deal with these feeling differently, I am one who was totally honest from the beginning and I knew others would be watching. My being honest kept me honest with myself and I needed the accountability in order to reach my goals. Good luck to you, and always remember there is only one person you need to be totally honest with and that is yourself!

Thanks all. I'm not ashamed but I do feel it is a personal topic and wanted to know if anyone else understood what I was feeling. The band has made weight loss very easy for me whereas in the past I'd never lose more than 40 lbs before it would start to creep back on.

I know people who answer with I am doing a high Protein diet and exercising. It is your choice what you choose to share. The only one you really have to be accountable to is yourself. Way to go on your journey!

Thank you Missy, I agree with you, but do still kind of feel the same way as Ashleigh. Since I've lost 85 lbs, I get a lot of attention, even from people I never talk to at work and when they ask, I just tell them I eat high Protein, low carb, and track every little morsel that goes in my mouth and that I'm walking for exercise. But in the back of my mind, I know my little friend around my stomach is helping me too. Yesterday was insane though,I finally wore pants and a shirt that fit and everyone, and I mean lots of people, were calling me skinny, I just wish my head would catch up and sometimes I really don't like all of the attention, I know they are being nice to me, but I'm not one that likes to be the center of attention; although, I left a very happy person from work yesterday, so maybe I do like it a little after all, lol.

They never gave me a frame of time. However when I told them my goal was 140 she told me (not in so many words) that it was a bit of reach...she told me to try to get to 180. That particular women no longer works there so I will never be able to show her I did it. It doesnt matter though! I know I did I couldnt be happier either

Ok so I see all these posts where people are ready to give up before their journey truly begins and it makes me sad. So I am sharing my store.
I was banded about 4 years ago. I didnt get it. I knew it would be hard but it was even harder then i imagined. And I did not have this forum or the chat room where I have made such good friends so I quit. I just stopped trying. It was too hard. I felt too bad. I suffer from depression and I just tucked the guilt from failing away and led a life of junk food and sliders. That is until I really reevaluated my life. Found this site and spent time reading posts. I came up with a plan. I talked to my family first and once I had their support I made a visit to my doctor. They made me get a flouro because it has been so long and when that turned out ok they gave me a small fill. This was the end of last October.
I got a sugery book from the np. I followed every one of my doctors guidelines and spent a lot of time on this site. It took me a while to realize that the senior banders just cut to the chase. They give advice from their own experience and we can either take it or leave it. I also cut out all carbonated sodas and quit smoking. You see on here a lot about "want power". You have to REALLY want this bad. You have to follow the directions your doctor gives you. I truly believe you must at some point see a nutritionist. You also in my opinion once you are on solids that is what you eat. You have to work very hard to manage your band. It is not magic it is a tool. This is not a sprint its a marathon.
Anyway, since back on track I have lost over 10lbs a month. I only started exercising last week. If I can do it anyone can. I know i keep mentnioning that I have a recipe group. I cant work right now so I really enjoy it. It is open for anyone all you have to is friend me at hely lb. I am there if you want to chat or if you are looking for specific foods. Let me know.
Please remember you are doing this for you first. Everyone you love and care for will reap the benefits once you find your path. Thank you to everyone on here who has supported me and kicked me in the ass when I needed it.

I just had to share with people who would understand, but I finally went shopping for pants today as mine are all too big and I didn't keep anything smaller, so it was time I got out of the "droopy butt" (as I call them ) pants. So I went in thinking, I'm probably and 18, nope, too big, I'm a 16, woohoo! I'm really happy, I was wearing size 24 about 7 months ago.
