  1. Oh yeah, the first 3 or 4 days I was sleeping on and off like crazy and still was able to sleep through the night. I'm not really a nap person and this was unusual for me, I don't know if it was the medicine or just the fact that I had surgery, but I wanted to sleep a lot. I got back on track through the next week when I went back to work.
  2. Here's the thing though, we paid attention to how much and what we are eating, I believe that is the difference. We are taking into account what we are doing, but still enjoying ourselves. I too had a bite of everything and did left overs the next day, but stuck to the 1 cup portion and that turkey really makes you tired no matter how much you eat, lol. But now back to the healthy eating lifestyle and we are good til Christmas .
  3. And you may have some pre-fill instructions, I have to not drink or eat anything 3 hours before a fill and like Cheznoel said, the liquids after this, but I have to go through all stages like surgery time after each fill (liquid, mushy, soft, solid). If they have problems finding your port (my first time they did, but had an inexperienced nurse) a tip that has worked every time I have gone for a fill (lot of my weight in my belly) is to put your arms straight over your head and do an ab crunch with knees up as you are lying down, it's not easy, but better than them sticking you multiple times. And you may not feel the needle, the place that does mine uses a numbing spray so I can't tell she is doing it and I'm terrified of needles so this was very important to me.
  4. I too have a desk job and took off a week just to play it safe, everyone has a different level of pain tolerance and you never know how you will react to having surgery, so like I said to play it safe if you can afford a week, I would do this. Your doctor may even have a suggestion.
  5. Thanks for the recipes Steve!!
  6. Thanks all! Cheryl, wicking is where the clothes help with "wicking" away sweat I guess it dissipates it faster or keeps it drier somehow, I get heat rashes really easy and this would help with that.
  7. So I just got off of the treadmill and I can't stand my flab jumping around when I'm trying to run (doing the C25K program), does anyone have any suggestions on supportive active wear to help with this? Like something really supportive that has wicking capabilities?
  8. I noticed some mention of crashing between days, are you guys still experiencing this, or has it eased up?
  9. I noticed a recipe for Wendy's chili, so I imagine some dinners are on here too. I just ran into the website looking for a low carb granola recipe and it popped up
  10. Swai fish with tarter sauce, doesn't smell fishy, taste fishy, and is really moist, goes down good. Lately I've been on a kick and breading it (low carb bread crumbs), cook it in the oven, and made my own tarter sauce and it's delish. Even if you hate fish, I would give this a try and it's cheap too!
  11. I do 2 cups of regular coffee a day and I still do creamer but I did switch to sugar free (powdered has more flavor) and use stevia (but have always used this). So not really stopping what I used to do, just being smarter about it, like I actually measure how much creamer I'm using and pay attention versus before when I just used the fat free (high carb) and just poured away.
  12. How did you know something was wrong? Couldn't keep anything down? Pain?
  13. I'm trying the black bean chocolate cake for Thanksgiving and if it's bad, I'll just chock it up to being a healthy cake (I'm not hosting so other desserts will be available)
  14. I know after surgery my throat was hurting from being dry for about 2 days, I ended up sucking on some lozenges or I imagine hard candy would work too, to help out.
  15. Great for you! It took me 2 years to decide on getting lap band, but as I finally realized I was getting nowhere, here I am 4 months after lap band with no regrets. Let us know if you have any questions.
  16. I thought I would share this as I was a bit excited by the sugar free, low carb recipes this lady is making, some really yummy looking stuff, even cadbury eggs! Here's the link: http://healthyindulgences.net/, look to the bottom right for links to different recipes.
  17. Yes, please keep us posted on other things, I wanted one of these too. I wonder if breading on say fish or chicken gets crisp, but keeps the meat moist? I live alone and hate warming up the oven to cook up 1 piece of fish and I thought this would be perfect.
  18. Chili with the on and off cold weather (I have some in the crock pot cooking up right now )
  19. I had mine done by Dr. Curry at Journeylite, how about you? I know that there is a doctor in West Chester that has them, but they are on Saturday's too, so this may not work any better for you.
  20. Awesome Jason, welcome to the Forum, great support and people here! Glad to hear all went well!
  21. Woohoo Jo, I'm happy for you! Nice Steve, just what I need a swift kiss in the a** . Well I hit the treadmill today, so baby steps Plan B sounds scary, so I don't want to find out, lol. So do you exercise on a regular basis, how do you maintain?
  22. Does anyone know of any support groups in Cincinnati and/or Northern Kentucky? The place I had my surgery has them but half the time they don't post them, change the day they have them, so if I forget to ask about it, I miss the meeting, or they have goofy meetings about things that I don't think offer good support. It's frustrating as I understood that they had these great monthly meetings and as we all know support is important, and so far, not so good. When I finally made it to one, I was the only person that showed up. LBT is great and has been a life saver for me, but I would like to talk to people in person who have the same concerns as I only know 1 person (my step mom) who has lap band.
  23. Haha Steve, of course you are important , thanks for the information! As far as a class, um, that will have to wait until I have confidence again, my work actually has Zumba for free, but no way am I shaking my butt in front of people at work, lol. That stuffed mushroom recipe that someone else asked for sounds pretty damn good. And the ground turkey is good, I just made chili with it about 2 weeks ago and couldn't even tell the difference. Where's everybody else at, how is everyone doing?
