ashiashley got a reaction from Fair2bslimLady in January 2013 Sleevers?
I have slept like a baby every night since surgery UNTIL last night. I had horrible nightmares all night and my husband had to wake me up three times from my "blood curdling screams" as he put it. I rarely dream that I can remember and it shook me to the bone last night.
I start back to work tomorrow so I am a bit afraid of the kind of sleep I will get tonight. I hope your sleep pattern improves. I really believe a very important part of a successful recovery is the proper amount of sleep. Best if luck. I'll be thinking of you!

Chewing is a big deal with this sleeve thingy. Long chewing makes for better tolerance for the food you eat and also makes for more time between bites and gives your little bananer belly a chance to deal with the previous bite.

We also collect money for surgeries, babies, and funerals to be able to send flowers, balloons, etc at my job
I have never received anything from my office for the surgeries, childbirth, or family funerals.
I no longer contribute to this fund at my office.

My Debbie was the gift coordinator and party giver of her workplace. When she got surgery and also when she retired from work....nada. She made note of it but totally forgot it. We moved to Florida, now laying in the sun, giving each other gifts, partying on our own.....who needs 'em.
Go on with life...expect nothing from them..let anything the least bit classy that they do be a surprise.

JuliannaJ - please send me your mailing address....I would love to make this right for you!
Sadly, you work with a bunch of insensitive a-holes. Not only would I no longer contribute to the office fund, I would tell EVERYONE you work with why you are no longer contibuting to the fund...because it's only for some of the people some of the time.
If they continue to call and email you, I would simply tell them that you aren't really in a position to help them right now since you took time off work specifically to recover from surgery.

You know I do feel for you,. First thing if you are not required to answer your emails from work I would stop. You are home recovering and having to deal the silly people I wouldn't answer a one. Second, they may be some jealousy there on there part and that is their problem not yours. The one thing I have learned over the years of being overweight is you can't change people their character nor their attitude, the only thing you can change it you and yours. This is the time for you to focus on you and be happy that you now have a new lease on life and enjoy it to the fullest. Also since it is not a requirement to put in a collection box for the office (at least I hope it is not) I wouldn't do it anymore. When work is over your stuff up and say goodnight and head on out the door and enjoy your life. they owe you nothing and you for dog on sure don't owe them a thing. What am I am saying: Julianna DO YOU, they don't matter, remember this is all about YOU....I hope I said something to help you on your wonderful journey of weight loss.....BIG SMILES GIRL YOU ON THE LOSER BENCH AND THINGS ONLY GET BETTER FROM HERE.........................

I understand the lonelyness. I feel it since I've been home. No one to talk to really that understands what I've just been through so guess that is why I'm speaking up here cause there are so many here that can give us the support we need... Thank you all for being here...

I was sleeved on the 24 th went home on the 25 but I had the "spider" method so I only have 2 small incisions which has been great.. As for the gas pain I am going through a ton of the gas x strips they really seem to help. I have also found that hot tea works wonders. I have never been a fan of tea, but I drinks at least two or three cups a day now. It is soothing and settling to my stomach.

ashiashley reacted to Momonanomo in Here's my unusual story as to why I'm here
Your story IS an unusual one! I feel badly for you, because a major decision was made for you without your consent, and I feel badly for your husband because he thought he was doing what you would want but he was wrong so he probably feels horrible. Can't say I feel badly for the surgeon though, because he really should've known better....
I can only imagine how you're feeling. If it were me, I would seek some counseling because something like this would shake me to the foundation.
Chances are though, that after recovering from the band removal/repair (ay yi yi that sounds like a mess and thank god you got through that) chances are that you would've done your research and ended up wanting the *sleeve* in the long run, but it would've been YOUR decision. And you would've at least been mentally prepared for it. That wasn't fair for the decision to have been made without you (major understatement).
At this point, you need to concentrate on your recovery. Try not to live in fear, because while people say that worrying doesn't change the outcome, I think it CAN have a negative affect your healing. Be cautious while you're healing, follow the guidelines, and try to stay positive. And it wouldn't hurt to talk to a counselor.
I don't presume to know you, your husband, or your marriage, but try to find a way to forgive him. Carrying that burden won't do anyone good.
    Best of luck to you.

hi first congratulations....I was in the hospital for 2 days as well. The most important thing is keeping the liquids going. I drank premier shakes when I got home. Drank 2 a day that counted as 22 oz of Fluid. I had cream Soups (low fat and strained) that was more fluid. I had a hard time with plain water and still do 3 Months out. So I drank diet snapple ..... I would use a timer and set it for every 15 min. In the beginning so I could get in all the fluids. It was hard for me in the first two weeks...it got easier. As to bowel movements.....It took me 12 days to have one and it was dark as well...... A long as you are having one about every 2 to 3 days I was told that is normal. I had pain as well. My Dr. Priscribed liquid medicine.... And pills that dissolve on the tongue for nausea. If you we're not prescribed them I would call and ask for them. It was hard to tell the difference from pain and gas.... However, remember that you just had a major surgery and there is swelling involved. Gas and swelling is painful.....As the swelling goes down so will the discomfort. When I felt gas I would walk around and it helped. I also bought some over the counter "Gas X Strips" those have been a life saver and still are ...... I hope this info helps... Best wishes! Tina

So sorry to here this, and yes, not everyone's esophagus is 100% straight like they look in the charts on the walls. I also have this problem - fun fact, its nearly impossible for me to burp because of it. I burp maybe twice a year? It blows my mind when I do because its such a rare thing for me.
My office allows for us to come in for IV fluids at any time if we think we need them immediately post op. All we have to do is call and tell them whats going on and come in and they will give us a unit or two in the office. I wish that was more common, people get WAY too sick before they deal with this problem, and everything feels worse when you are dehydrated.
