    Alcohol?

I was wondering the same thing. I'm about 11 weeks out and haven't had a drink yet. Surprisingly, I don't miss it too much, but I think that's just because I've been really busy lately and haven't really had the opportunity to. I know the first time I go to Vegas, to a wedding, or out with my girls it will be an issue...lol I'm a beer drinker too, but don't want to risk stretching out my sleeve. (This journey has NOT been easy and I'm not willing to EVER do it again) I was thinking Crystal Light and Grey Goose might be a good option...

    Travel After Surgery

I went on vacation 3 weeks to the day after my surgery and while it was a little hard for me not to be able to eat all the things that my family was indulging in, there were still plenty of things I COULD eat since I was making the switch to soft foods. I was still a little week and got tired faster than I expected to, but I still had a great time.
  4. Wow! My road was a bit more rough, but finally at about 11 weeks out I can say I'm starting to feel a lot better. I still don't have the energy that I expected, but hopefully that will get better too.
  5. That sounds painful! How are you doing? I had a hiatal hernia fixed at the same time, but from what I'm learning that is pretty common...

    Will I Lose My Butt?

I'm starting to lose mine. The ONE part I didn't want to lose a lot of weight in. :/

    Leaks

I'm 5 weeks post-op and feeling pretty good now too, but I'm deathly afraid of a leak too! I also would like to know what to look for! Thanks in advance, Sleevers.
  10. I know exactly how you feel. I was the exact same way, crying all the time, miserable, and mourning my "old" life. I was such a wreck at 2-3 weeks out that I had to find a local support group where I could go and talk to people in person to make sure that it all was really going to pass and see how they looked further along in the process. I literally thought I was losing my mind. It was the best thing I could have ever done! They were so supportive (not that everyone here isn't the exact same way) but for me personally, it helped to literally have the pats on the back and the reassurance that it will pass and be feeling better than ever in a few weeks. They were right. I'm 1000 times better than I was 3 weeks ago. Hang in there, it gets better.
  11. Hi! My husband and I just got back from vacationing in Pismo Beach/Morro Bay 3 days ago! It's so beautiful there, especially when it's 105 here in the Valley. I was just sleeved on 6/14, looks like you're in the home stretch. How long has it been for you?
  12. Hey Sleevers, I live in Bakersfield, but had my surgery in Santa Barbara, CA. Did anyone else?

    Insulin Pump Settings

Hey Audrey, I also have Adult Onset Type 1. So much fun, isn't it? I had the sleeve before trying to start with the pump so I'm not much help on settings and such, but my endo is the one who suggested this surgery and gave me list of how to take my insulin before the surgery and after in the different stages of feeding (liquid, mushies, soft, etc...) I'm 5 weeks out and I will say the results so far have been amazing! I went from taking between 60-90 units of insulin a day total to about 2 units every other day. Now that I'm eating more solids, I'm just taking a nightly dose of 6 units of Lantus and it's keeping my blood sugars stable all day. This is surgery is truly a miracle! Good luck! P.S. I've never met another Adult Onset Type 1...apparently we are pretty rare! Nice to meet you!
  15. Oh WOW!! This is something that I've been pretty stubborn about thinking, "It's just water". What a visual!! I'm going to do my best to stop eating and drinking together and for 30 minutes after. Thank you so much for posting that video!
