Hey sleevers! Question for you experts- how will I know if I get a leak? What are the symptoms? I am almost 3 weeks post op and feeling great but I am scared of getting a leak and not knowing it! Any insight is greatly appreciated!!

I'm 5 weeks post-op and feeling pretty good now too, but I'm deathly afraid of a leak too! I also would like to know what to look for! Thanks in advance, Sleevers. :)

Seriously, no joke intended at all, if you get a leak or other complication, you will know it! Symptoms vary, but most people who have leaks have severe discomfort, vomiting, paid, fevers, and HUGE problems being able to eat. Not everyone has the same symptoms, but they are basically in bad shape from the start and never feel any better.

There have been two people that I've seen who didn't have "major" symptoms, but those folks still knew something wasn't right very early. At 3 and 5 weeks, you're not out of the woods, but I'd say you probably don't have a leak if you're not having problems already. If you're truly concerned about it, discuss it with your doctor, either at your next appointment or make a call to the office Monday. For most of us, aftercare is a big part of the process.

Good luck!

Another question. I am six months out and the last two days I have had some soreness

Where my stomach is as well as some pain like "stitches" feel when you run and you get them in your side. this is right under my ribs. Any ideas?

My symptoms were left shoulder pain, I had a consistent fever over 101, I felt like I had a bad case of the flu,,sick to my stomach..it wasn't pleasant.

cscake,,right under your ribs..it sounds like gas trapped up under there..try gas x. Or it could be acid backing up..a little reflux..are you taking a ppi? This area is where the liver is lifted to get to the stomach,,could be tender and sore from that. It doesn't sound serious but if it becomes very bothersome and not getting better, I'd call your dr.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
