  1. Hi.....everyone has to decide what it the best for them. I chose to go with the sleeve as it is a restrictive surgery and does not affect the absorption of nutrients like the by pass. Good luck with you journey.

You are going in the right direction! You are 25# less than you were a while ago. If you should stall....you can always print out your diet tracking and have the nutritionalist look at. Good luck!
  3. Good luck....I am waiting to be submitted any day and I am already a nervous reck....I want this so much.
  4. Mine is just being submittted to insurance now. I have a bmi of 37 with comorbidities. I am nervous after reading all of these entries that I will be denied. I don't think self pay will be an option. I will be calling the insurance co ordinator next week to touch base and make sure she has everything she needs to submit.
  5. I just did mine this week. It was with the psych doc that works with the osf weight loss center. They wanted me to go to him cause he knows what NOT to put in a report.....as far as wording. They just want to make sure that we do not have any underlying eating disorders...like bing, bulemia etc. It was an hour long...he made me feel very comfortable....more like a conversation. We talked about my diet history...what I have tried over the years. We talked about my family, parents , children, husband....health, raised where, what they did or do as well as my life history. The hour flew by. He ended it with a talk about how I can acheive long term success and three main red flags to watch for that would alert me to falling into old habits. He gave me the best advice that I have received yet. Relax...they won't commit you!
  6. There are several of us in the Ottawa/Marseilles area.....about 1 1/2 hour from you.
  7. Hi...just wondering if anyone has BCBS of IL.? How were they with approval timing? How long did it take? Just wondering. Thanks for any input you can give.

I have to agree. I have told some of my coworkers about my plans to have VS and a few were supportive but a few had very strong reactions and stated their opinion. I will not discuss it with them again but I will with the few that were supportive. I felt it would be helpful to me to have a support system at work also.
  12. Thanks for your post.....I feel this process is soooooooooo long. I have my psych appointment next week then all will get submitted to my insurance Heres hoping!
  13. Don't worry....you will look wonderful and better yet...you will feel wonderful and be healthier. That in itself will give you the overall positive confidence you need. Love yourself, love life. Congrats on getting your date and good luck!
  14. I used it for my $370 program fee and they accepted it after I submitted the documentation.
  15. Hi...it's always a difficult decision to pick out a surgeon. I am an RN and I beleive that you are paying this person for their skill, low complication rate and compitence....not his personality. Good luck with what ever path you choose.
  16. Keep reading on this site. I have not had my surgery yet but came to site to learn more. It is wonderful. You can look around the site and get so much information from those that have gone thru or are going thru it now. At my nutri class they stressed protein first at all meals and sipping on your liquids between meals and not to drink one hour before and one hour after eating. Keep reading and looking around. I am sure some on the folks with experience can pipe in and get you some advice. Good Luck!

It helps that so many of you feel like the process is so long. I finally got a call for my pysch appointment for two weeks from now. I was told that it will be sent to my insurance a few weeks after that appointment . Still hoping for a surgery date right after Thanksgiving.
  18. I am sorry to hear that. Take care and get well soon so you can resume your program.
  19. Congrats!!! So happy for you. I have to agree...won't it be awesome to shop for clothes in regular stores?????

Yea....finally got my appointment date for my psych eval. October 9th....then all can be submitted to the insurance. It feels like things are moving so slow. I am anxious to get the approval.
  21. I was told at meals to eat protein first, then veggies and grains and not to drink with meals as that liquifies your food and will pass thru faster causing you to be hungry faster. Good luck and keep up the good work.
  22. I love this site. Soo much support and so many of you have had the same feelings and concerns that I have. We are all fearful of failing due to the history of our weight loss attempts. I truly beleive that this is a "for ever" life change and our sleeves will be a tool to help us accomplish this. I am still about two months away from surgery and can't wait! Good luck with your decision and keep reading on this site!
  23. Hey....just wondering if anyone has had their surgury in Peoria IL? My doctor is Dr. Rossi in Peoria....has anyone had any experience with him?
  24. Good luck to all of you!
  25. Wonderful! Keep up the good work. You have got to be feeling good!
