  1. Today is my one year anniversary (June 28) of my weight loss surgery. Yes, I am a gastric sleeve weight loss patient and I have NO regrets. I needed to do something because I was dying. There was a sense of urgency due to Obstructive sleep apnea, high blood pressure and bad knees. I am happy to report that I no longer suffer from these illnesses that were brought on by obesity. My surgery, by one of the best surgeons in Houston, Dr. Ken Hollis was a blessing from God. I am so amazed how God used him and He certainly gets the glory. I walked almost daily after the surgery until recently when I joined 24 Hour Fitness June 1. I now have enough energy to workout everyday and I love it. I'm looking for a personal trainer to help me go where I've never gone before. Yes, I want to be softly ripped! I know some frown upon surgery and say it's cheating. Well, cheating saved my life! I did what worked for me at over 40. I hope my testimony is encouragement for someone else. We am still in the struggle but no longer struggling.
  2. June 28, 2012 was the day my life (health) was saved. For two years I contemplated this surgery. High blood pressure and obstructive sleep apena gone! Arthritis in the knees, under control! Anyone in doubt of this medical miracle, I'm a living testimony. It hasn't been a year and I still have 40-50 more lbs to go but I am overjoyed. New sleevers, believe it. Congrats to all who are in this struggle and hanging in there!
  3. All things are possible! Hang in there! Still in the fight to a healthier me!
  4. Anyone have any issues with Muscle Milk? I tried it once. It was OK, low sugar and high protein. I needed a replacement protein shake until my Bariatric Advantage shakes arrive.

    Dessert anyone?

Here is a simple recipe for those sweet tooth day: Peach-yogurt parfait Layer with your favorite fruit (purée if you need to) 2-4 oz of plain Greek yogurt add 1 or 2 Truvia to give extra sweet taste Alternate layering with fruit then yogurt Optional: top with granola, chopped almonds or pecans I used a taster glass almost the size of a shot glass and I was full! I had to go this route because I can not digest ice cream well plus the yogurt is better and has protein! Bon Appetit!
  6. I had/have sleep Apnea. After loosing 100 lbs the original pressure set on the machine (16) was too much. My doctor ordered another sleep study and now my pressure is 8. The study revealed that I still had it but not severe. Sleep is important to weight loss so I was glad to be back on the CPAP...an expensive utility!
  7. At 6 months out I need to increase my vegetable intake and choices. I am tired if green beans. I have tried greens but that upsets my sleeve. I used to love cabbage before but haven't tried it yet. Any suggestions?

    oh no, cookies!

Dust yourself off and don't beat yourself up! Start over, walk, and know that your sleeve will work when you "work your sleeve!"
  9. Sleeved June 28, 2012 Work your sleeves!

It's funny how people call us skinny and we still have a ways to go. I get that and I still need to loose 80-90 lbs! I am far from being skinny lol as a matter of fact I am still considered obese per the health screening I just had with my health insurance company
  11. I'm 100 lbs lighter than I was when I got on the CPAP. I can't sleep with it anymore....too much pressure. My doc wants another sleep study so I'm waiting on that but in the meantime I was sleeping ok

    Happy Thanksgiving!

I am so Thankful for this day and for being sleeved June 28. I can still enjoy Thanksgiving just with portion control. Today I am 100 lighter that I was pre-op 357 and now 257! If this isn't something to be thankful for I don't know what is. It is a beautiful day in Houston, Tx and I'm about to go walking. Praise Him!
