I also do the Maxalt dissolvable and love it! I suffer from Migraines also. I am also on topamax as a daily preventative.

I am four and a half months out and down 56. I had hoped for a more rapid weight loss initially, but now I'm happy with things the way they are. I use My Fitness Pal to track my food and nutrition, but haven't deprived myself of anything really. All things in moderation, as it should be The last thing I wanted was to be overly focused on yet another restrictive, difficult diet. Instead I treated my sleeve as a tool to help me lose weight while still enjoying all kinds of food in appropriate quantities. I eat between 900-1100 calories a day on average and can't imagine how the 600 calorie people manage. I have hit a few stalls along the way, but they always end and weight loss resumes. I'm 50 and female so I see my progress as a tremendous success. Best to all!!

I am 6 months out and have lost 30 pounds. To say that I am frustrated and discouraged is an understatement. I journal religiously, I drink my Water and am waiting for it all to come off - eventually. My cravings never stopped when I had the surgery so it is an uphill climb every single day.
My doctor says it "is not that bad" but I know that I had higher expectations. My nutritionist has suggested that maybe I am not "serious enough" - skinny b%@*% - does she think I went through a very involved surgery, etc. for recreation??? I am tired of making excuses to myself - not to mention my not-so-well-meaning relatives that just CAN'T understand why I am not skinny yet.
Ugh. I don't want to say I am a disappointment to myself, but I am. I am really grasping at straws here. If anyone has had this happen to them - can you please let me know? Also if you have gone through it and it turned out fine - I REALLY want to hear from you!
    Thank you in advance!

I have Migraines also. I take Maxalt-MLT and it dissolves on my tongue. It is not a narcotic either. I even got a Migraine after my surgery and convinced the nurse to let me take one of my own I had brought from home (she said what she didn't see didn't happen and proceeded to leave the room - ha!) and it worked great. I have been taking them for a very long time and they still work. Hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck!

Mishy, I think that sometimes people should come off the liquid diet sooner than recommended. I'm not saying you should do this, but maybe talk to your doctor. I very slowly went into purees after 9 days on liquids, because I felt starving and sick all the time on liquids. When I added in small amounts of purees I felt so much better and started going 3 hours without feeling the need to eat. Everyone does heal differently, and I think we need to listen to our bodies. I remember craving so much during the liquid phase, but as I advanced through the diet the cravings have lessened because I am more satisfied with what I eat! Having some very thin mashed potatoes at 8 days out will surely be better for you (if your doctor approves) than cake and ice cream and will leave you feeling satisfied, not scared and guilty!

There is just a way to give advice and a way to judge. There are many judgmental people on here who get snappy at people who struggle. They know its wrong or they know it could hurt them that's why they post on this site. I think people should just answer the questions asked not scold people. I've been scolded on here and it didn't help me all I got were a bunch of people telling me a bunch of crap I already knew. my point is think before you speak. Having the sleeve makes no one on here an expert on everyone else. Advice is fine, informing or trying to teach is fine. But to belittle someone because they struggled and cheated is out of line and makes me not yup even want to use this forum.

Every single person is different! I am 12 days post op today - and have felt GREAT the whole time. My surgeon wants me on full liquids for two weeks, then soft foods for 4 weeks.....needless to say, I CAN"T wait to have SOMETHING to chew!! I feel your pain! I think days 6-11 were really hard...not as bad today. SOmething I did - and yes it is a cheat, but is satisfied me without a lot of guilt! I took an ounce of hard parmesan and nibbled on it for an extended period. I figured it would be like cheese soup!! It gave me something to "chew", had bold flavor, and isn't bad for you....just a little early progression.....
I hope the rest of your days are a little easier, I know each day is easier for me....God Bless!

No need to make someone who struggles feel even more ashamed than they already are. Its one think to give advice and another to judge. just because it was so easy for you to follow doesn't mean it is for everyone else. I was eating things I shouldn't on my liquid diet and I don't feel guilty. Your body will tell you what you need to know when you eat something you're not suppose to and you will go through the discomforts and learn what you can and cannot eat. I recommend staying with your diet and not cheat but I bet we are not the only ones who have cheated. Not many people will admit when they have cheated. But reading some of theses responses tick me off cuz it always turns in to omg I can't believe you would risk your life or omg you need counseling. Just cuz you had the sleeve does not make you an expert! Just sayin!

I don't know about everyone else, but my cravings diminished substantially since I had the surgery (even though it has only been one week). I was a total carb junkie before and was always an emotional eater, but just going through the surgery itself has not only curbed my physical cravings, but the whole process has helped me feel so much more confident that I will be able to do this. Do not beat yourself up. It is OK. We all fall down and then get right back up. Good luck to you!
