Well I've had a bit of a set back, and honestly it made me think if this was the right choice for me. On surgery day they found I have an infection and would not operate. Needless to say I was extremely upset and said I was done and didn't want to go through with it. But I pulled on my big girl panties and went and picked up my prescription. So I am almost done with my first week on the antibiotic, I will be on it for one more week and go in to see if the infection is gone. Which I am praying it will be if it is thy will reschedule surgery.

    Surgery day

Hi everyone, let me start by introducing myself. My name is Tamara I'm 27 living in the greater Houston area. I decided on the lap band about 8 months ago when I stepped on the scale and it said 299. Since that day I have been doing all the nessecary pre requirements my insurance requires and after 6 months my surgery day has finally arrived. Once I'm home later today I'll post again on how everything went.

    Today is the day

Just want to say thank you or the support, today has finally arrived about to head to the hospital to get banded. I'm super excited about the thought of the new healthy life that I have been starting and can't wait to continue on my journey. I'm also a bit nervous about the procedure itself and the first couple of weeks after surgery. Once I'm home I'll post on how everything went.

Brown eye how was your first day of pre op diet? I go in for my pre op tomorrow and surgery Thursday. You will get through this phase and you will be so happy when you get to your surgery day. I am so excited I can't wait.

Oh and my doctor said I just need to be getting 60 grams of protein a day from my shakes. So I drink 2 a day with extra protein in them to get my 60 grams a dy. I would ask your doctor about how much protein you should be getting a day.

Steph are you on a completely liquid diet or do you get one small meal a day? If you can only have shakes add more protein powder to each so you are getting your protein in for the day. Hope this helps.

Steph it does get easier I'm a week into mine, the first couple of days are rough but it gets better. Hardest part for me was christmas and not being able to really enjoy it. But I know that this is what I have to do to reach my ultimate goal. Good luck to all the jan. banders.

I will let you know how my surgery goes. The first couple of days are probably the worst for the preop diet. Mine weren't so bad because for a couple of months now I have been replacing 1-2 meals a day with a protein shake just to get used to it. And online there are so many awesome protein recipes so your just not drinking the same thing all the time. I'm 5 days in and have lost almost 10 pounds. You will do great.

Well I got word yesterday I will be having surgery on jan. 3. I'm excited and nervous but I can not wait to start my new life. Any tips on the pre-op diet every one I have talked to say the first couple of days are the worst. Good luck to all the other jan. banders and all goes well. Tamara
  12. Hi everyone my name is Tamara and I live in the Alvin/Pearland area. I am completely new to this I have gone to my first consultation and with my insurance it requires a 6 month supervised diet. I have already met once with my nutritionist. I'm just wondering what other questions I should be asking. And if anyone can tell me what kind of struggles I may face after surgery. Thanks to any one who responds Tamara
