Ok ladies...... We are women and we are beautiful. Fat or skinny someone somewhere finds you attractive. Own it and embrace your new body. Most of us have worked damn hard to lose the weight and get in shape.
Now, some of the I feel like everyone, particularly men are staring at me statements are a little in your head. You need to let that go, they are men and they are not going to bite you. If you are hit on and not interested be direct and tell that person. Guys are not dumb and they get the hint pretty quickly. Be yourself as that is all you can ever be. I'm sorry you didn't know how powerful being a women makes you.
I was fortunate enough to be raised by a total badass so no matter how ugly I thought I was she always instilled great confidence in my other abilities, so luckily I got the badass gene. Lol! It's time to develop yours.

I can't even believe some if the things that I read on this thread....
I am not a feminist. Let me first say that. I really don't know the op's experience because I've never been in the armed services. But can it be a dangerous place for women and sexual abuse?
YES!! All you have to do is watch the news the last couple of weeks and you will see.
I think some of the things said here trivialize the ops sentiments.
I think there is a difference between having men look at you and being sexually harassed and put in fear..
By the way I don't find random men judging me on whether or not I'm hot enough for them, a "compliment".
When I was younger I used to walk to work. My office was directly across the street from my house. On any given day when I was in the crosswalk I would get men doing anything from catcalling me if they liked what they saw to barking or saying mean things because they did not like what they saw....After awhile I started driving to work.
And another thing there are cultures where the woman have to cover their entire body. This is said to be done because the men respect the woman so much that they want them covered so they will not tempt the men..
As an American woman I will not change myself as not to draw the wrong attention!
(and I doubt the OP is dressing to sexy in her camo)
I know that men are capable of being decent and good. And the ones that are not? I don't think the way I dress would change them one way or another.

You guys must be hanging out in the wrong places..who said bigger women dont get hit on?...I'm pre surgery and get more attention than my stick thin friends...honestly I wouldn't want attention from men who wouldn't give me attention now. You can't love me at my worst you sure as hell can't at my best...not that I think big is worst looks wise, just health wise. I think confidence is more where your getting attention from, you feel confident with your new body.

I think at any weight, we're seen as "sex objects" haha! I used to go out a lot before I had kids and drunk men hitting on you is the worst! You do have to become somewhat of a b***h to get your point across.
As I'm losing weight, I do notice women acting differently. Like pointing out my flawa rather than being happy for me. I only surround myself with positive people but I do have to deal with jealous coworkers and clients. It's okay though, they don't bring me down. I think when you gain confidence and security in yourself, the social aspects fall into place. It might be new territory to have people notice you and it will take time to get used to, but enjoy it. Love yourself and let that personality shine! If social issues are due to abuse, counseling might be helpful. Enjoy life to the fullest and don't let others dictate how you live it!

My program included a 2 week liquid pro op diet and then after surgery 6 teaspoons of puréed adding about a teaspoon every week. During this time I should have 3 Protein shakes. I get 1/4 c at 3 months... Work my way up to 1/2c at 6 months...3/4 at 9 months ... 1 c at a year and moving forward. As my food increases my Protein Shakes decrease. I'm suppose to have 1/2 my portion Protein , 1/4 veggie, 1/4 starch. I'm only 2.5 weeks out and 7 teaspoons so I'm only really eating protein . Overall everyone program is different my cousin is 3.5 months out and allowed 1 c of food. I personally like taking it slow in portions I feel like it gives me time to change my habits and relationship with food. Best of luck to you and I hope you find someone your comfortable with.

Part of what she says makes sense. Eating small amounts like 1/2 cup of food of mostly Protein at 3 months makes sense. Your stomach needs time to heal and start functioning normally. Your body has to adjust to eating less and becoming more efficient at burning less energy. Where I get confused here is saying staying mostly on shakes. While in the early goings on, it is a good way to get the protein and some Vitamins that you need, but at 3 months you should start a transition to more real foods. At 3 months about 800 kcals would be appropriate working upwards toward your ultimate caloric goal.

Mexico is something I don't want. I want something in my own state and in my town if I can where my family can be by my side. I don't want to take a plane anywhere and I've had friends get breast implants in Mexico and didn't like it. Ill pay more to stay put.

I went with the band because I was naive and didn't research it. I was ricidulous and I should have realized it was not a good option when two cordinators I went with had revised from band to sleeve. How stupid could I be? Dying twice convinced me that the band is not a safe option to consider for most people.
RESEARCH. Go to the lapband forum and search complications. It's outrageous that the band hasn't been recalled.

    You look great.
Breast size is sort of hard to decide. I have an "athletic" build, meaning broad shoulder etc. I want implants but have been worried that going to big will make me look heavyset due to my build. I was looking at something in the 300 or so cc size.

I am choosing the sleeve because after 4 years of hell with the lapband and getting an emergency removal I am starting my journey all over again to achieve my weight loss because the lapband never worked for me .therfore I am back to square one to try to loose 60 lbs .

Maybe why no one is talking about the Lap Band is because this is a place for talking about VSG. You might ask people on lapbandtalk.com why they didn't get the sleeve. Also maybe talk to people who went from band to sleeve. For me... When thinking about the band. The chance of having a 2nd surgery for removal is high. But VSG is forever. That can be good or bad. Good luck!!!

Who on here is considering lapband? lol - not true from what I've seen!!
I chose sleeve over band because I didn't want to bother with fills, I didn't want a foreign object in my body, it has higher long-term complication rates and from what I've seen on this forum, many people are dissatisfied with their weight loss from the band and get a revision to the sleeve.
I chose sleeve over RNY because RNY makes you sick. It makes you sick if you want to enjoy something you 'shouldn't'. It makes you sick because your body can't absorb Vitamins and minerals the same way and you suffer nutritional deficits that can be life long. And I didn't want my intestines cut up. With RNY, your stomach is still there, meaning it might NOT take your hunger away and it has a chance of stretching your pouch so that you gain weight - but still have to deal with the nutritional deficits because you can eat as much as before, but your body isn't getting the nutrients it needs from your food. It's harder to find a balance with that surgery.
I chose sleeve for ME because it offers what I need: portion control! I'm 3 wks post op and I feel like I eat like I did before, as far as the size of bites. I drink the same as well, I haven't had any nausea, vomiting, food intolerance... in short, my recovery has been great. The sleeve, IMO, offers a more 'normal' post op life. Once I'm done with my stages, i can eat pretty much whatever I want, just a LOT less of it. Of course, I've made changes to what I'll eat. I'll make healthy choices more often than not, but if I want to have cake on my birthday, it won't make me violently ill (like with RNY). Plus, I wanted a permanent tool. I don't see the point (for me) in getting a band because I think the big selling point with the band is that it's "reversible", meaning you can have another uncomfortable surgery to remove the band, when I need something that will help me for the rest of my life. So between the band or the permanent surgeries, I chose something permanent. And, for me, the pros/cons of VSG vs. RNY are clearly in favor of VSG.
Everyone is different and has different opinions, obviously. It's smart to check out all your options before committing to anything.
    Good luck!

I think because most people here know that the long term complication rate for the lap band is MUCH higher?
I thought I wanted the Lap band then I started researching and found out that this foreign body they call the lap band is not a permanent solution and will more than likely have to be taken out via a second surgery because of its high failure rate.
