I Dont Know What To Do

Thank you so much for your positive advice. I knew when I posted this I would probably get some negative opinions about my husband and it is nice to see someone that seems to understand a little better. I talked to him about this tonight, after he got out of his mood. He said he would never leave me because of that, that he didn't mean it that way. I think that he is scared that I am gonna lose a bunch of weight and leave him. I have heard a lot of husbands feel that way. But honestly, if I wanted to leave him, I would do it now. It wouldn't take me losing weight to do that! lol Thanks again!
  3. I am planning on having my lapband surgery after the holidays. My husband wasn't overly enthused when I originally told him about the surgery but he came to me saying he would support me. In the mean time, every time I have Dr appointment or anything that has to do with the surgery, he gives me a hard time about giving me gas money for the car. (My Dr is about 40 minutes from me) Today when I told him I had to go there on Monday, he told me I should start taking the bus! This isn't even the main problem though. He told me that when I get this surgery I am going to ruin my body. I said "what do you mean?" He said "your going to have a ton of loose hanging skin." I replied that I didn't think I would have a lot of loose skin and he said "you better hope not." I then said "even if I do, I would rather have loose skin than be this big." He sarcastically said "yea because you will look so much better with skin sagging all over!" I am pretty confident that if I have this surgery and end up with loose skin, he will leave me. I know I am going to have some loose skin, my belly already hangs down some so obviously when the fat is gone, the skin will still be hanging there. Same with my upper arms. So now I don't know what to do. I don't want to lose my husband over this. I just don't know what to do. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  4. Kay, thats exactly what my husband said! I assume he isnt the only spouse to feel that way, now! Thank you all for your help and advice! I really appreciate it!!
  5. Thank You all for your advice and words of wisdom! You have made me feel so much better. I know I can do this, I was just scared by all of the information I heard yesterday. Do I want to be able to pig out on any and every thing I used to? No but I want to be able to eat healthy but be able to still have things like that on occasion, when its a holiday or a Birthday or something. And my husband and I are in love with each other, we are best friends, sole mates. SO I do believe that we will be fine. Thank you so much for all your help. :-)
  6. I began my journey in August. I have done almost all the things required, before being able to get my surgery date. I just have to lose 8 more pounds and go to one more support group meeting. Yesterday while at the hospital, waiting to have presurgery tests done, I overheard some women that had weight loss surgery done already. They were saying how horrible their skin is hanging and how they miss eating bread and pizza and pasta. Then one was talking about her sister that is very sick after having the gastric bypass, she has lost to much weight, is losing her hair and looks horrible. Then I saw my Dr later that day. He told me that with the lapband, you only average losing 25-30 pounds a year! And that most people only lose 40-50 pounds total. I am worried about having tons of loose skin and feeling even worse about how I look and my husband finding it to be nasty and not wanting to come near me. I thought after you had the surgery, you could go back to eating most things? I didnt realize you could never have bread, pizza and pasta (among other things) again? I see people on this site that have lost a lot of weight, so I dont understand how the Dr is saying you will only lose 40-50 pounds total. I was hoping to lose arouind 80-90 pounds total. So now with all of this information that I heard and recieved yesterday, I am starting to have second thoughts. Anything anyone could say to me, to make me feel better and be as excited as I was before yesterday, would be great. Oh and another thing. Sunday my husband (who is supporting me in this) said he was worried that after I lost the weight, that we wouldnt last. I didnt understand why he said and feels that way. Then yesterday at the Dr, my Dr said a lot of people end up divorced or seperated after losing the weight. This scares me. I dont want to end up divorced. All I want is to lose weight and be able to do more with my children, feel better about myself and avoid any health problems being over weight can and will cause in the long run. And now I have all this scary stuff thrown at me. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.
  7. Maybe I am refering to it as the wrong thing? This is the diet they have me on, to lose the required 10% before I can schedule my surgery.
  8. The lean and green diet sucks! lol I can only drink water, tea or coffee. I dont drink tea or coffee so I am stuck with just water. I cant even drink diet soda or crystal light. I am not a huge water drinker, so its hard. The food part, the things I can eat that I like are tuna, tilapia, pork and turkey. The rest of the list is gross stuff that I wont eat. Then there is a bunch of green vegetables. I can have a 1/2 cup of fruit a day. Thats what I look forward to the most! Your diet sounds awesome compared to mine lol
  9. I went to my Dr for my 1st appointment about a month ago. But I do my grocery shopping once a month and had already done my shopping for the month. (My appointment was a last minute appointment because there was a cancelation) So the Dr said it would be ok to do Weight Watchers for a couple weeks then to start on the Medifast Lean and Green diet. Well I didnt lose any weight on the Weight Watchers, because of the medicine my primary Dr had me on (which had a side effect of weight gain) I am no longer on that medicine, it caused me to gain 3 pounds. Anyways, I started the Lean and Green diet on Monday. I hate it. Most of the foods I am allowed, I dont like. I am just so hungry all the time. When I go to the Dr on the 22nd I plan on getting the Medifast shakes which from what I hear, will fill me up for a few hours. I am started to get cranky and I am just so miserable. I cant make this feeling of hunger go away. And to top it off, my husband comes home with pizza for himself for lunch! Now I know he has every right to eat whatever he wants but did he have to eat it right in front of me?! I dont know if all Dr's have you do the same pre surgery diet, but if any of you did this lean and green, please tell me what to do to make myself feel full. I am so scared that I am just gonna get to the point where I am so hungry and I am gonna pig out. Thanks for any advice.
  10. I went to my Dr about a month ago and was told how much I had to lose before I could have the surgery,( 26 pounds) and how much I had to lose before I could schedule the surgery. (13 pounds) I thought to myself that day, wow this isnt going to be very hard at all! They recommend you do the medifast shakes, but I cant afford them. They are about $60 a week. I have a big family and only one income right now, and we just cant afford it so the Dr told me another diet plan to use. I have been doing this diet and walking 2 miles almost everyday. On the other hand, my primary Dr put me on a new medication around the same time as I went to the surgeon, for my headaches I was getting. Little did I know, a side effect from that medication is weight gain. So here I have been, trying so hard to lose this weight while being on a medicine that causes weight gain. About 1 1/2 weeks ago when I wasnt losing any weight, I went online and looked at the side effects of this medicine, after a friend suggesting maybe it was the cause. I have since seen my primary and been weaned off of it. I just weighed myself and I have only lost 1 pound in the past month because of that medicine. I guess I am grateful that it didnt cause me to gain weight, it just kind of caused me to not lose any, but I go back to the surgeon in 2 weeks and I feel like a failure because I thought I would be going there and would have lost that 13 pounds and would have been able to schedule my surgery. Thats obviously not going to happen now. Does anyone have any tips on ways to lose the weight quicker? I feel like this is never going to happen.

Went To See The Therapist, Need Some Info

I havent seen the nutritionist yet, I go on the 22nd, thats also when I see my Dr.So far I have gone to the seminar, the therapist, had tons of blood work done and had a physical by my Dr's assistant. I have most of my appts on the 22nd. I am just trying to get all my little required appts taken care of before the 22nd.
  12. So, last week I went to the required therapy appointment. The good news is, he says I seem like a good candidate! :-) But I have to go back in a couple weeks and he says before he will give teh Dr his ok, he wants me to have some more information on a few things. The first is, he wants me to know what foods and beverages I wont be able to eat and drink after the surgery. And the second is, he wants me to know what all the risks are. He also asked me why sometimes the lap band doesnt work for people, and I wasnt sure how to answer that. So I am hoping some of you can helpme come up with as much information on these topics as I can get, before I go back to see him. Thanks so much!
  13. Thanks! That makes sense! They didnt really explain much to me, just gave me a bunch of packets to read.
  14. So I FINALLY got to go to my 1st appointment since the seminar, today! I am very excited to finally be able to begin this journey! I just have a question. They gave me info on something called a Lean & Green Diet, to help me lose the pre surgery weight. I was wondering, do I have to go by this diet to lose the weight or can I do something like weight watchers to lose the weight? Thanks!
  15. I went to the seminar for the Lap Band on August 9th. At that time my husband was not on board with the surgery. Since then, he is ok with it. So thats a big sigh of relief and I feel so much better about it. But I was told at the seminar that I would hear from the Doctors office within a week to schedule my 1st appointment and its been over 2 weeks and I havent heard anything yet. I called them this past Thursday, when it had been 2 weeks and they said they are running behind. Well I wanna get the show on the road here! I have to lose 10 % of my weight before I can get the surgery (like I am sure most of you had to do) and I was told not to start trying to lose that weight until my 1st appointment! I am just starting to feel like this is never going to happen. First my husband didnt support it,now he does and now the Doctors office is taking its sweet time! Did anyone else run into this issue? How long does it usually take once you start your appointments and everything, until you had your surgery? I just want to get this new chapter of my life started!
