Officially nervous! Sleevertobe, I sure hope you are feeling better soon!!! Take care girl! Prayers and well wishes coming your way! On a brighter note, You're a LOSER!!! woo hoo congrats!! 3. Just curious... How much is surgery in Mexico, if you don't mind me asking? I am having surgery in Charleston SC, and am self pay. It costs 18,000!!
  4. Yeah girl!!! So happy for ya!!!!!
  5. I am a recoverying alcoholic. I go to AA. I thought I would NEVER be able to stop drinking and druging until I finally made it to AA. It really saved my life. I am almost 6yrs clean and sober! I am using my AA program and our 12 steps to help me with this process as well. If I don't do the things I need to do, talk to other alcoholics, pray, follow the 12 steps (the program), I will get drunk again! Same for this If I don't stay in touch with my fellow sleevers (to help me be accountable) pray, and follow the program, I WILL gain weight again. OA Overeaters Annonymous has a great program! Even if you don't think you over eat nessisarily... they deal with all of the phychological issues that we face, I think I am going to start going to a few myself! They have meetings all over the country, I'm sure there's one near you. Just a suggestion. It really does help people!!! I have several friends who go!
  6. Me too Brother!! My surgery is July 10th, I have my EDG on Jusy 5th! And I swear if I get that close and they have to push it back, I will freak out!!!
  7. Thanks girl, there site didn't have an order form, so I asked if there was a local vendor, and asked for a sample!! Whoo ha! thanks!
  8. My dr say the same as your MinaT! Post-op I'm on a liquid diet for two weeks, have to have 2 boost, blue powerade, water, 2 protein shakes a day, other clear liquids. Weeks 3 and 4 pureed food, no more than 1/2cup per meal, 5 to 6 meals a day. Weeks 5and 6: soft foods after that regular diet, no bread, rice, pasta, steak, salad until 6months!!
  9. I am having a horrible time saying good bye to Diet Coke!!! I did switch to no caffine, but started getting Horrible headaches! I have one regular diet coke hidden in the fridge and take a sip every other day! I gotta get over this qucik because I'm having surgery on July 10th!
  10. I am so sorry for your troubles! You're in my prayers. Is it possible to go to another dr? I know you must be very frustrated and disappointed! I hope everything works out well! Keep your head up. Things usually have a way of working out... Sometimes its not how we think it should be, or how we expect it to be... but they do work out! Well wishes coming your way!
  11. Hey SleeveDreamer, do they have a website?
  12. Yes this is day two of my pre-op diet and it has most definately sucked thus far! I think I'm not getting enough liquids in. And I only had one shake today, I was supposed to have two. Tomorrow is a new day, and I have to try to do better!

  17. Hey Sandy. Thanks girl. Yeah I have Sjogrens too, which makes me a little nervous about the not drinking while you eat! Sometimes its so bad I drink and drink and it never feels like my throat is wet! So annoying! My surgeon would not budge on the Plaquenil! He said absolutely have to stop taking it! Even my Rheumatologist called them and said he though I should still take it! It's not easy! Its raining here, which is making everything hurt worse! When do you have your surgery? How are you dealing with all of this?
  18. Oh heheh, I don't know what made my husband ask, but it was great... he said " Oh I guess you won't be able to cook for a while huh? Smells and stuff will make you nauseous I guess?" I jumped on that one. I said, "you're right honey, I won't be able to cook for a long time.. I think I'll have a very weak stomach and be nauseous for a long time!" Ha, so wrong of me, but at least it gets me out of cooking for a while! I won't make him suffer too long, and God knows he can cook, so he won't starve!
  19. Oh my word! Firstly just let me say that I LOVE your screen name!!! LOL I don't know if you like Adam Sandler, but he used to do a character named Fatty MaGee! And I always joke that that how I feel, or who I am! It made me crack up to see your name. I have friends that started to do the plant based diet. They have three little kids and they're doing great! I have a pretty nice sized garden, so I try to eat a lot of fresh veggies. My husband and kids would NOT go for a plant based diet, ever! I can hear it now! My 3yr old is pretty good about veggies, the 4yr old is NOT! If its green, he's not eating it, unless its jello! When I decided to do the sleeve almost everyone was helpful and supportive, at least to my face! Anyway I have one friend who was like, "you're going to have to change everything about how you live and eat, so why not just do that!" And I'm like, well hell if I could "just do that" I would be a size two and walking around naked all the time! lol, j/k! But seriously, it ain't that easy, at least not for me! I'm having VSG surgery on July 10th. I cannot wait to be on the "losers bench" as they say! Hope you are well. Take care!!
  20. Hello all. So I have Lupis as well as Fibromyalgia! I have been trying not to think of it in regards to my surgery. However, in the back of my mind, there is the fear that having surgery will cause a flare up! I had to go off of my Plaquinil for a month, until after my surgery, which is July 10th. Its been about two weeks and I've been good until last night!!! I could feel the rain coming, my joints have been aching. And my hips are absolutely killing me! Like to the point of tears, and it takes a LOT to make me cry. My hands and arms/elbows are hurting not from typing, I have to keep stopping. I stopped taking the Plaquinil once before for a week, and it felt like I hit a wall going 90mph! That time it affected my hands and elbows and shoulders first, then I was curled up in the fetal position in so much pain I could barely think! And now its started again! Calling the doctor in the morning. And I guess they will increase pain meds, but I have done that for the last two nights and it hasn't helped! And I can't even take motrin! I want to pull my hair out! I am afraid if the increase my meds now, will they be able to control my pain after surgery? I have two little boys to take care of!! I will be staying at my parents after surgery for the first two weeks, but I can't let them do everything! My guys can wear the most entergetic people out! Getting a little upset about this tonight! I told my surgeon that nothing about the surgery scared me at all, the only thing that scared me was coming off my Plaquinil! And he said "for good reason"! AAAHHHHHHHH anyone else dealing with these issues? I could really use some support! Can't wait to get it over with and go back on my meds!!!!! And scared they will try to put me back on steroids, which have contributed to my weight gain over the last two years! Hurting, nervous, upset!
  21. I agree Melissa, we should focus on first getting the surgery and losing weight. I have started trying to work on my arms. Also I bought on of those big resistance balls (I think that's what they are called, like a big bouncy ball) I can do a LOT of crunches on those things! So tomorrow I start working out with it! Need to start walking more. I haven't in the last few days because I have been sick. But I have been swimming. We'll cross the loose skin hurdle when we get to it! And support eachother along the way! take care!!

  23. Hi Melissa, I'm Laura. I'm having my surgery on July 10th, in Charleston SC. I am very excited and anxious to start my new life!! I have two little boys who are VERY active and I want to be able to really keep up with them! I've also become very secluded. I am a very fun, talkative outgoing person, but as I've continued to gain weight I've become more of a home body. And I live at the beach!! I don't even want to go because I am so uncomfotable and embarrassed by my weight, even though my kids are begging me to go every day! I also have Lupis and Fibromyagia. So trying to deal with both diseases and chase kids with all of this extra weight is really hard! Oh my goodness I am glad to hear you have the same image problem as me. Often I feel smaller than I actually am! Its shocking to see a picture of what I really look like! I have never been a small person, but when I was a 16/18 I felt a lot smaller and had a flat belly!!! Man I miss that!! Are you worried about loose skin? I am so afraid I am going to have a lot of loose skin, especially under my arms! And I have NO money for cosmetic surgery! I hope you are well! Take care!
