  1. it took them about 2 weeks to approve me.
  2. It might sound a little gross but I really like avacados on mine.
  3. You hit the nail on the head when you said your husband just dont understand. I had problems with people around me being jealous. A few of my friends wanted lap band but didn't have the insurance or the money, and now they dont speak to me any more. I don't know it they gave you a green book or not, but what I did was put it and any literature I had in the bathroom and took everything else out, that way my husband had to read it, if he wanted to read. I guess not everyone likes to read but my husband gets all caught up in reading and stays in there forever lol. But don't you worry about anything, Sooner or later the negative comments will stop. I too had the problem with my kids thinking I would die. Now that they see that I am as normal as I ever was, no one says anything, and I am only 3 months out. Be sure to let your family know that this is not easy, and nothing happens overnight, and It would help you alot if they gave you support. You will be ok, This is all new, Let us know how you are doing, and remember when you start to feel alone you can always come here, no matter what time of day or night, and you will always get positive support. Take care
  4. I was having pain in my port and still do occasionally . I went to the dr and he said that there is some mesh in there and it is stitched to the muscle, he said it could have something to do with scar tissue and the mesh. He said as long as it isn't constant it is probably ok. He said to call him if it gets unbearable or is constant.
  5. sounds really serious, not to scare you, but you seriously need to take everyones advise and get to a bariactric specialist quick. How long has this been going on and did it stress you out when you moved? Just take care and let us know how you are doing.
  6. yes, that is probley what it is, an allergic reaction. I had that and they were taken off and the dr said not to use anything like neosporin, just let them get air. It clears up pretty quick. But you still should ask your dr.
  7. I pulled out my instructions from after my surgery, and it said nothing about using straws. I have been using them, and havent had any problems.

I am 3 months post op. The last 3 days I have been having a stinging sensation where my port is. There doesn't seem to be anything in particular that brings it on, it just happens, it only lasts a few minutes and I can "rub" it and it goes away. It is almost like a stitch is stuck or something. Has anyone else had this problem? should I be worried? Should I wait and see if it goes away on its own?
  9. Just be your self. Its a piece of cake.
  10. I quit using chantix. After about a week, you will notice you want one less and less. It made me not even care. No desire most of the time and then if you do want one it will last about 5 minutes. I would just get up and find something to do.Hang in there it will work, just be strong. I feel so much better.
  11. Went to my first post op appointment today. Dr. said whatever I am doing to keep doing it, because I doing so well. I go back in 3 weeks for my first fill, if I feel like I need it. with the plication, I dont seem to have problems with my portion control, although I do get pretty hungry, I get full real fast too. So far so good.

It was not bad for me either. The port site was tender for several days, but other than the gas everything was good. And the gas you can walk off. I was back at work in 4 days. I have a desk job so it wasnt hard for me at all.
  13. I used true results in bedford. They were awsome, and the patient advocate really went above and beyond to help out with questions and things like that. I would go there again. and I would recommend them.
  14. I was super sore for about 3 days, it seemed when the gas let up I felt less pain. I am taking Children s Tylenol, and it seems to do the trick. Tomorrow I am going to work, but fortunately for me, I have the kind of job that if I don't feel like I can make it all day, it will be ok. Be tough, it does seem to get better quick. My thing is I am afraid of overdoing it, but I will just listen to my body. Take care.
  15. Got my lapband/plication on Thurs. I guess I did really good. My RN told me he was surprised, people dont usually do as well as i did. I just basically woke up walked to get the xray thing done and went to the restroom ( wished I had went in opposite order lol). Then I got dressed and went home. The gas has been terrible and the port site is extremely tender, but getting better everyday. Planning on going to work on Tues., I can sit around up there just as easy as here. So here I go. Start of new life, Aug,9 2012.

I think you hit it right on the head. That heifer is scared you are going to out do her. The best revenge???? OUT DO HER!!! Most people that pick on others is just insecure of themselves. I am probably a little more outspoken than alot of people. But I would have told her to shut up and mind her own business from the get go.
  17. Omgsh, I am only on day 2 of my liquid diet. I am sooooooo hungry. This is so hard, but I know I can do it. I saw a poster of a big steaming pizza. I wanted to lick that thing so bad. lol. I mean, heck road kill is starting to look good!!!!! I am eating 2 shakes and one soup a day. I also have some sugar free fat free pudding I nibble on some, and I hope I am not messing up but I have been putting a couple of whole wheat ritz crackers in my soup. I guess I am lucky because I only have to do a 5 day liquid diet, I have a whole new respect for those of you who have a 2 week diet. Just 4 more days, and I still wont be able to eat, but maybe I wont want to. I actually had a dream last night that at the hospital the Dr forgot I was there and went home without doing my surgery and then he wouldnt come back!!!! NIGHTMARE!!!!! well I know I can do this. I just wanted to vent to someone who wont say "your the one who wanted this"! That coming from a 13 year old, dont expect to much sympathy there. Haha. Well wish me luck my surgery is this thursday, Cant wait.

  19. which pre op diet are you on???
  20. Omgsh, you have been thru the ringer. The only thing I know to remind you of at this point is you know the mechanics of eating or you wouldnt have lost all that weight. Maybe you can try to live like you have restriction. tiny bites and stop when your full. I truly pray that you get good health again soon. I will pray for you. Take care of yourself and keep us informed.

    Please clarify.
  22. I use the pure protein powder. It has 23g of protein and when made with skim milk adds another 10g protein. My dr told me to steer clear of slim fast and Adkins because it has to much sugar and to low in protein. I bought a bullet blender at Sams club, It is awsome, for single servings. The dr told me I can add fresh fruit or peanut butter (eww) to it for different flavors.
  23. Don't for me!!!! Aug 9
