Just Got Back From Pre-Op.

Upper GI test is nasty. It went in pink and milky and came out pink and milky and explosive! Not cool :(. I do love my nutritionist. She is awesome. Anyway. Sorry with the TMI. For the first few days of liquids only what are the brand of protein drinks you are using? The clear liquid protein drinks??

Hello Cb2. I use PureProtein (100% Whey Protein) in Vanilla Creme and Frosty Chocolate. Can be purchased at Kroger in the Natural/Organic section. There are also different brands of unflavored protein shakes. However, not sure of a "clear" protein shake. If your doctor said "clear" liquids that means beef/chicken/turkey broths, Sugar Free apple juice, etc.

I'm on day 4 of the Preop diet. I have tried 3 different Protein shakes so far. I bought a 2lb container of the Body Fortress whey protein at Walmart for $14.97 (Strawberry). It tastes ok. The Isopure Dutch chocolate is pretty good, but my favorite is the Atkins Cafe Caramel! It is awesome! The hardest part is the mental and emotional part of eating..As an example, I went into a convenience store for my husband on the first day and the smell knocked me down when I walked in! Fried food and more fried food...It did smell very good. But at that moment I knew I had just had my protein shake and was NOT hungry. It was mental! Physically, the shakes, broth, sugar-free Jello and popsicles are sufficient. Can't wait till August 10th. I will be getting the lapband with plication. Such a wonderful journey! God bless You and I hope you find a shake that you like :)

Also I've found that adding a capful of extract (vanilla, coconut, pineapple, etc) improves the taste of the shakes tremendously.

The easiest one for me is the Pure Protein ready to drink shakes available at costco or Sam's Club. The best bet is to find low car and fat and high protein. Unfortunately most pre-made shakes (think Atkins or slim fast) are too high in carbs and fat and low in protein.

I use the pure protein powder. It has 23g of protein and when made with skim milk adds another 10g protein. My dr told me to steer clear of slim fast and Adkins because it has to much sugar and to low in protein. I bought a bullet blender at Sams club, It is awsome, for single servings. The dr told me I can add fresh fruit or peanut butter (eww) to it for different flavors.
