I just got sleeved on Friday 14th by Dr Ponce de Leon! I am sitting in my hospital room at INT waiting to go get my leak test and then I'm getting discharged! yay!!! I have had a GREAT experience and definitely recommend Dr Ponce and his coordinator Trish! I was VERY nauseated the first night but that is typical for me from anesthesia.. the other ladies here were totally fine and came to check on me LOL the nurses are AWESOME! they are so encouraging and were here around the clock with whatever meds I needed. I only needed pain meds the first night and haven't had any since! Anyway I'd be happy to answer questions, will be home on Monday and have a bunch of pics I'm going to share of my experience

I need to change the heading to "second surgeon says yes". I went to see Dr. Shikora at Brigham & Women's today and he actually thinks the surgery will help alleviate some of the other issues I have! So excited-now I just have to figure out how to tell my husband!

I don't want to go to regular restaurants anymore, just fast food. I can find something small off each menu. If i do go out to a nice restaurant though, i just eat my kids and husbands food. I get an appetizer plate and get a couple of bites off each of their plates. You figure it out as you go.

I find it very awkward going out to eat now. I do t want kids menu food. I don't to have to change my food choices because of my small stomach. I want to eat normal. We went out yesterday and I ordered the appetizer fried calamari. I rarely eat anything fried so this was a treat. My hubby (also sleeved) ordered a chicken panini. The portions were huge. The price for each meal was only 9.95. ( diner ) so after we're done, the waitress comes and looks puzzled as to why we ate so little. I guess it's because we're still big people and well it just doesn't make sense to her. But I want to order what I want, and I'll just take it home. I actually love having restaurant leftovers. Lunches for a few days .....

I have thick skin - so what some people may consider "negative" comments don't bother me
If you look at what I actually consumed in the 2 days there, it isn't bad...
I DESCRIBED alot of food, but what went into my mouth was:
ONE crispy corn taco with about an ounce of finely ground (not greasy) beef and an ounce of shredded cheese and one bite of a bean and cheese nacho.
ONE meatball (2-3 oz) that unfortunately had some bread mixed into it (I did not eat ANY of the noodles or saurkraut)
About 3 oz of Quiche made from eggs, cheese, spinach, carrots and Tomato - none of the crust
1 and a half of the egg roll ruebens that equaled about 3-4 oz.
    I drank lots of Water.
    I walk A LOT!
    I lost 2 pounds.
The point of my post was to show actual, real food I had to make decisions about - and I am happy with.
My surgery date was July 2nd - I am free and clear on my diet. I have not thrown up once, had any nausea after the 3rd day post - op, and have healed wonderfully.
I have had zero pain - but can feel a cramping like sensation when I am full.
I am extremely thankful for this board, and I welcome any/all questions. It has been a life saver for me - literally! I would not have had the surgery without it.

I was eating like nothing happened by week 2. I felt almost like i hadn't had the surgery. I just can't eat near as much! I am so thirsty all the time too! I drink a lot and seek out fruit, especially watermelon. I never ate watermelon before this. I don't eat sugars because they make me sick. Also, i go out with my family to eat and take food from their plate. Or i have 4 chicken nuggets at mcdonalds or a soft taco with no lettuce at taco bell. I haven't had soda or caffeine since my surgery either. I miss it
