  1. I can feel for your daughter. Although, I didn't have any issues with insurance, I had to do a 6 month supervised diet. I'm 21 years old and a college student! My mom like you has had the lapband done. I was supposed to have the lapband done in July after doing 6 month diet, psych eval, etc etc. I've been in the process since December 2011. Well, in June they found I had gallstones. My doctor agreed to take them out during surgery. My gallbladder ended up being really bad and he couldn't place the lapband. It would have to be postponed 3 weeks. Come August and the next surgery date, I have an infection and hematoma. My surgery can't be done and I start in less than two weeks. My lapband surgery now has to be postponed until I have a break from college, which is in Decemeber. I completely understand how your daughter feels and how frustrating this process can be. Keep her motivated and inspired. Have her exercise and eat healthy while away for college. Any weight she can lose on her own before surgery will help. I believe she can go to any doctor for the 6 month diet, as long as they record her weight. That's what the insurance wants to see. I'm sure her school has an on site medical center or she can find a PCP near by. Tell her to not give up hope and it will come sooner than she thinks! How exciting! I think it's great she is starting this at a young age and taking control of her weight! Best luck! If she needs a friend to talk to, I'm here! I truly understand how she feels...just tell her to not give up! everything happens for a reason!
  2. Were you sore a month out of surgery? Especially getting out of bed, up from a chair, bending, etc? I'm sore, especially underneath my breast bones. I'm not sure if it's from laying on my back or not wearing a bra because of sore incisions or because of surgery...
  3. Ahh you look greattt! What an amazing feeling!
  4. Thank you, Heather. That's what I was thinking too.
  5. Oh my, I hope there's nothing wrong internally! But this pain is unbearable! Each day has been getting worse pain wise. Thank you, Mis73! You truly are a sweetheart! I'll call my doctor and see what he says. If he can't help me, I'll make my way to the ER.
  6. Thank you, Mis73! I just don't know what else this can be? I'm on antibiotics and painkillers. This is ridiculous. I'm fine when I'm laying down, but any other position kills me with the incisions...
  7. I have a painful infected hematoma incision. I can't stand walk or sit. All I can do is lay down. I've been on antiobiotics since monday and Vicodin and nothing seems to help. I had surgery July 12. It's my port incision but I don't have a lapband (long story)...what should i do? I called my doc yeaterday and spoke to his associate all he said was to increase Vicodin. My doc isn't in his office til tomorrow. Should I call now or wait til tomorrow and see him then? It's so painful, if I stand for to long it starts killing me and I feel like I'm being ripped apart and stabbed. It's so painful I cry. More than post op recovery.
  8. Is it red? Swollen? Hot to the touch? Mine was burning for a week and then the following week I found out I had an infection and a hematoma. My incisions still hurt like heck and I had surgery July 12. Do you have any drainage? I can't sit or stand for a long period. All I can do is lay down and Vicodin does nothing for pain. I hope this goes away soon. If you have any redness, swelling, warm to the touch, or drainage id let you doc know ASAP it could be infected and you may need antibiotics. Otherwise, do you have glue or steri strips over your incisions? They made my skin really dry and made it burn too.
  9. I have a hematoma at my port scar but I don't have a lapband. I got it after having my gallbladder removed. I was supposed to have my lapband placed but my doctor didnt place it because of the risk of complications. I now have an infection at the hematoma spot and I am on antibiotics for a week. I was supposed to have lapband surgery yesterday after the first time failed because of my gallbladder, but now I have the infected hematoma. I hope yours heals soon! Are you cleaning it with anything? Or putting a bandage on it? I'm not sure if I should
  10. But I hope it never happens to you or anyone else! I just didn't have the luck to get it. Thank you to all who replied! I hope I can get it December. I hope nothing else pops up I sure hope the insurance doesn't give me any trouble either, because I've been dealing with them since last December. Plus the 6 month supervised diet. It's been a long process...
  11. Thank you! You are all right. Thank god for everything. I'm alive. I'm overall healthy for everything else. It could be worse. I am blessed in many ways. It's just I've been waiting so long and struggled so much for this...Everything happens for a reason though.
  12. Omg now that you mention it, I did have some crazyyyyy dreams. I just thought I was crazy though... Haha weird! We should conduct an experiment on how it effects the brain and win the nobel peace prize or something
  13. Thank you so much, dolls! I hope it all works out in the end
  14. August, 6th 2012. I was supposed to be banded today after the first time failed in July. I didn't get banded in July because I had my gallbladder removed the same time as lapband surgery was scheduled. Well my gallbladder was bad, acutely inflamed, leaking and it exploded inside of me. My doctor couldn't place the lapband in due to risk of infection and complications. However, I have the lapband incisions because he was planning on putting it in. Today I wake up and my port scar is in puffed up and pus is coming out of it. It has been sore and burning for the past week. The doctor thought nothing of it. The surgeon notified me today that i have an infection and a hematoma formed. He can't perform surgery because of risk infection and complications with the band and with the incision not healing correctly. I need to be put on antibiotics. It should heal in a week or two. I start school in two weeks. I won't have a break until Christmas time. So now my surgery is postponed until then. I've done this awful pre op liquid diet twice. I'm weak. I'm tired. I'm still recuperating from my gallbladder. I'm really sad. I'm just breaking down in tears. It's as if God doesn't want me to have lapband. I want to be healthy. Oh boy sorry for any typos...I'm sorry, I just needed to vent.
  15. I can't wait to eat popcorn!
  16. I want to shop at all the trendy boutiques and stores. I also want boots to fit my calves. I want to get a cute hair cut that I can actually wear down, because right now I just get too hot and sweaty and my hair style gets messed up. My dream is to be able to fit into a Chanel suit.
  17. Hii! I can relate! I was supposed to have my gallbladder taken out and be banded at the same time. However, when my doctor opened me up he saw my gallbladder was really bad and acutely inflamed. So he didnt place the band. I had it taken out July 12 and will be having lapband surgery August 6. I think it is best to do it this way so that you aren't healing from two surgeries at once. Good luck! You will do great!
  18. My swelling went down about two weeks after surgery. Good luck! Hope you feel better soon!
  19. Around my incisions, my stomach is peeling and chafed/chapped and it is burning? Can I put some aveeno on it? Did anyone else have this? No redness or anything. I'm 3 weeks post op today.
  20. So when doctors say we "overdid it", what exactly do they mean?
  21. I honestly didn't think this surgery would effect me the way it did. I've had a very slow healing process and im about to have lapband surgery next week. I can't imagine going through all this again. All I can hope for is a healthier me in the long run.
  22. I had my gallbladder taken out about 2 1/2 weeks weeks ago, I was supposed to have my lapband placed but my gallbladder was acutely inflamed and too bad to have my lapband put in. So long story short haha, I have lapband incisions plus gallbladder incision but no actual lapband. I have two incisions that hurt really bad. They just started today. The big scar, maybe thats the port scar? And the one that is to to the left and under the port scar. They aren't red and nothing seems to be coming out of them. But they hurt like crazy, especially when I walk, sit, etc. anyone else experience this?! Thank you in advance for listening to me! I don't know what I would do without my lovely support group from lapband talk! Xoxo
