  1. It's a personal decision, and totally about a lifestyle change. The lap band is a tool, but I was the same as you, yo yo diets etc. one thing I can say about the lap band is.... It is that motivator to keep you on a diet. I've never stuck to a regimen for longer than a month.. I am now 2 months strong and 30 lbs down!!! My starting size was 5'3 217 lbs... I'm now 5'3 187lbs!!!!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs)
  2. Good morning fellow bandsters!! Has anyone had any unusual cravings that were not there prior to banding??? Mine were/are as follows: Cottage cheese Homemade pimento cheese (low fat) Peanut Butter Cheetos (more than ever before) Pick de Gallo (my current craving) Just curious!!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs)
  3. Well I'm back to normal now.... Regular eating commenced 3 days after drinking and my appetite resurged with a vengeance!! No pain or anything. I think my stomach had to "heal". Thank you all for your comments!!!!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs)
  4. Thank you all for your responses!! The good thing is I did vomit from my "lower" stomach but it was only liquid then dry heaves.... I am still trying to get back to eating right. I'm only eating 500-600 cals a day!!! But no pain!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs)
  5. Hey all!!!! I have a predicament. You see, my birthday was yesterday... I drank alcohol on Saturday, but was still within my caloric intake. Well last night, I ate according to planning on drinks for my birthday, but unfortunately, I over drank with the alcohol..... Ultimately my body is more supseptible to alcohol since being banded. I've only PBed a few times, but last night I actually threw up..... Now I'm nervous about band slippage.... I'm so mad at myself... And I am not a huge drinker to begin with. Good thing is everything feels fine. No pain, reflux or anything, am I being a worry wart? I tell ya, I will not partake in any more alcoholic beverages in large quantities ever again.... Funny thing is, I had only 1 drink and 1 shot... Guess I'm a lightweight lol. How will you know if there is band slippage? 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs). 7/24/12 (191lbs)

  13. Hey all I have been experimenting with foods to create healthy meal options for us bandsters. My two nephews live with me (13&9) and HATE healthy eating... Well I experimented sautéing with beef broth.. (totally awesome) and this is what I came up with..... Eckrich Turkey sausage (1/4 inch sliced) 2-3 squash (1/4 inch sliced) 2-3 zucchini (1/4 inch sliced) 2 cups of frozen French green Beans 1 carton of low sodium beef broth 1tbsp or more of garlic powder to taste Cut up squash & zucchini. Place in large skillet on med to high. Add 1/2carton of beef broth, garlic powder and frozen French green beans. Cook until squash and zucchini are semi-cooked. Add sliced sausage and simmer for 20 minutes. 1/2 cup serving = 138 cal 6 carbs 7g fat 11g Protein 6g sugar You can also sub chicken breast, shrimp, or all 3. Everyone loved it!!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs)
  14. Hey all!! I got a 10cc Realize band. I asked the Doc why there are different sizes and whyi got a 10cc. He basically explained it was about our anatomy. Larger stomach, larger band. As far as the manufacturers, there are different ones that doctors use. I know my doc utilizes realize versus allergen. I guess it's dependent on the doc!! I don't foresee seeing one being better than the other, just different brand of the same product!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs)
  15. Thanks... When I went for fill yesterday I explained my exercise activity and Doc reviewed my diet log, said keeping under 90g is ideal since I do work out more than 6 hrs per week!!!! 5/28/12 pre-op diet started (217lbs) 6/14/12 Surgery 1.8cc added to 10cc band (205lbs). 7/17/12 1st fill (194lbs)
  16. Thank you all for sharing... I have zero restriction, but I do notice a little bit more of a full feeling. The fill was yesterday and they wanted me on liquids for 2days but I needed some nutrition because the protien shakes and soups were not working, so I started mushies one meal earlier tonight. I was only able to eat 1/2 cup and even that wasn't finished. I pray I can make it though the next 4 weeks!! Thanks again for sharing and for all of the support!!!
  17. Omg I'm glad I'm not the only one with "deflating" boibies lol... I went from a 38d to a 36c at current and I'm 5 weeks out from surgery!!! I can handle the smaller boobs as well versus being bigger and carrying more weight!!
  18. That is awesome you two!! I am very much in anticipation to lose more weight!! I know my patience struggles!! Whatbim worried about is the fact I do work out a lot and notice inches being lost, but I think I am replacing with more muscle mass....
  19. Congrats to you!! I just came from my first fill and the doc told me that losing 10 lbs since surgery is a great thing, but the lapband is a slower process. Their target for me is to lose 6-8 lbs per 4 weeks!! You are doing great, just keep up the good work!!!!!
  20. Good afternoon everyone!! Well I had my 1st fill today! Wasn't bad at all. I'm just curious to know everyone else's statistics and experience with fills, weight loss etc!!! 5/31/12 pre-op diet started. Weight 217 6/11/12 pre-op consult with doc. Weight 210 6/17/12 surgery. 10cc band with 1.8cc fill. Weight 206 7/17/12 first fill of 1cc. Weight 194 I now have a total of 2.8cc.. The Water afterwards went down easily but I could tell a difference. The doc said I am ahead of my weight loss goals. But I can't help but feel like I'm not doing enough. I eat less than 1100 calls a day, work out on average 1hr 6 days a week. I know patience is needed but I guess I'm just frustrated with the 1cc fill. How has everyone else's experience been?
  21. I have found the Atkins Advantage shakes to be the best for me. They have a variety of flavors and it's easy, no blending!!! To each their own but I have one every morning for breakfast and they are awesome!!!!!!!!!
  22. I thought I was being super naughty on the days I take in 70 carbs.... I'm am open to try different approaches, but funny thing is, when I intake more carbs, I lose more ounces to pounds of weight loss.
  23. Thanks Mis.. I am so blessed to have found these forums. You guys are so realistic and supportive!! I just need to learn how to post my pic on here now lol...thanks again!!!
  24. Good luck to you Shereal. I am happy you found us in the forums... I can tell you to love yourself no matter what, but also think of alternatives just in case the lap band isn't an option. We are a great support system here and I hope you can think positive!!! I wish you all the luck in your weight loss journey and will say a prayer for you!!
  25. how many carbs do you take in daily? I use my fitness pal... And I rarely do the recommended. I usually average 50 per day. My guilty pleasure is 1/2 oz of Cheetos early in the day... I know its bad but I compensate with super healthy meal choices!!! It's all about portions and balancing it out!!!
